  1. Great, hope filled article. Thanks Cody for this article and for your many other outstanding articles.
  2. Melissa, how many victories did you see out of your 57 games in 2022? I know, I know, it's not all about a victory every game. It's the journey, rather than the destination. But you've got to admit, a ball game is more fun when your team wins, the crowd is cheering, and there are happy conversations among the fans leaving the stadium and on the buses.
  3. I guess the top rated story for TD must be sarcastic smoke and mirrors, when losing is the painful reality for Twins' fans. Reminds me of the old Brooklyn Dodgers, "Dem Bums", of the 40's and 50's, who inspired many self- deprecatory stories and articles. The Dodgers had trouble competing against their home-town rivals, the Giants and the hated Yankees, so they made fun of themselves and laughed to keep from crying.
  4. I know and understand why most of you Minnesotans prefer the beauty of your open air ball park. However, since I live in North Carolina, I appreciated the certainty which the Dome provided those of us who have to travel a great distance to see the Twins play at home. I was able to make plans and reservations and purchase advance tickets to attend the games I wanted to see well in advance, since I was assured that the games would be played in a comfortable, dry, temperature-regulated stadium, I realize the Twins' fans are mainly from the upper-Midwest, however I thoroughly enjoyed my times at the Dome. And I must say, July in Minnesota was delightful.
  5. Interesting proposal. It just might work.
  6. Front-loading a contract may sound wise, however I believe that the total amount paid out over the life of the contract is what is important to the player and his hot-shot agent. I believe it is a pride thing. But a counter to Ghost's proposal of front loading a contract is that a million dollars today is worth more than a million dollars payable in 7, 8, or 10 years. Therefore the owners will pay less in overall "value paid" by back-loading, instead of front-loading a contract which has the same total number value for the life of the contract.
  7. The Twins were on the hook for a 3 year, 105 million dollar deal. That's not chump change. I hope they did their due diligence and checked Correa 's medical situation completely. If the opportunity presents itself to sign Correa to the Twins' offered contract, I hope it works out well for the Twins.
  8. Vasquez can be a huge addition to the Twins pitching staff. Remember Gray did not want to pitch to Sanchez when they were both Yankees. Pitch calling is critical. I predict the Twins pitch selection will improve with Vasquez behind the plate and Jeffers getting more experience and learning from the veteran Vasquez.
  9. Nooooooooooooooooo. Winning is not everything. And it is not the only thing. Integrity, honor, kindness and trust still trump meanness and lies and thinking the world revolves around oneself.
  10. I agree with Squirrel. What kind of message does signing Bauer send to the families who the Twins hope to attract to the park and to watch on tv. Trevor Bauer would not be welcome in my home for dinner.
  11. I'm curious...what players have said they don't want to play for the Twins? Just asking.
  12. Seth, you have been the voice of reason during uncertainty. That is the quality of a good leader. Thank you.
  13. Great post JYT. Sounds like you may have an economics degree with a minor in psychology. Thank you.
  14. Not that Nick needs anyone to defend him, but I respectfully disagree with your statement that Nick always leaves out key details that don't fit his narrative. I don't always agree with Nick, nor any writer at TD, nor any poster at TD, but I feel that all the TD writers are knowledgeable journalists, who try to get to the truth and then write about the truth. However by nature that is difficult to do in this setting, when the FO cannot share medical information without the patient's permission and the FO does not want to share negotiation information nor who is going to be drafted or who was offered to be traded for whom. And there are things that take place on the field and in the clubhouse which need to stay in the clubhouse. We as posters on TD are given free access to post our disagreements. We have freedom of the TD press, as long as we are civil. We are fortunate to have access to this website and to be able to state reasons for our disagreements in a civil manner....thanks mainly to Nick Nelson and the other owners of TD. Happy holidays to all owners, writers and posters at TD. I love this website.
  15. Maybe the Twins has some reason to doubt Boras. Plus suspiciously Boras seemed to be in a huge hurry. Probably the Twins did not want to sign Correa without confirming why the Giants backed out, so the Twins could make an informed decision. It's called due diligence. Maybe the Twins felt that Correa would not want to move to 3B in New York, and that Correa enjoyed being the acknowledged team leader in Minnesota at SS. Who the hell knows. I'm not sure even Correa knows what happened.
  16. Good point, but the Twins had to have a decent catcher, whether they signed Correa or not. 30 million for 3 years was most reasonable for a good catcher. Twins probably would not have signed Gallo if they had signed Correa, I'll agree to that. But if true, then we are back to the debate of why sign Gallo under any circumstances?
  17. I agree that the headline was wonderful. It surely fits my feelings about Mr. Gallo. And I realize that I am probably one of the oldest posters on TD.
  18. Who is the "him" you refer to that you would rather have up with men on base? Would you rather have Gallo or Arraez at bat with men on base? I know I did not give you any facts in this scenario, such as no outs, 2 outs, score tied, 3rd inning or ninth inning, etc. I did that on purpose because I could not think of any scenario where I would prefer to have Gallo at bat instead of Arraez.
  19. Good point Mike. Right now I am asking myself, "Self, why do you spend your time with this? Why do you have your moods affected by something over which you have no control? Isn't there a better way to spend your time?" And just when I thought I was out, spring comes and they reel me back in !
