    Good defense, few passed balls, strong accurate arm, baseball knowledge of what constitutes pitching success, pitch calling ability, a motivator of pitchers, a team leader. Hit .240 or above with 15 HR's and the ability and inclination to lay down a bunt when I feel it is necessary and to hit behind the runners. Finally, a 3 time batting champion would be nice, but that would fall under your term of "wishful thinking". I can sum up my description of a good catcher in two words: "Joe Mauer". I don't know where they are, but I know where they are not...in Minnesota. Ryan Jeffers is a good catcher, but next year there is no one to catch besides Jeffers and Jeffers alone is not enough. That is my whole point.

We're all pulling for Royce Lewis, not for ourselves, not even for the Twins, but because his is a young friend who is struggling with some unfortunate things in his life, which are beyond his control and he is doing he best he can. Keep fighting "Bulldog", keep fighting and never give up. Explode !

    Trade any of them or combination of them and bring in two good young catchers. I know young catchers are expensive, but the Twins need one badly. The Twins should be sellers this season. This team is a mess. It started with Royce Lewis's injuries, resulting in Bride's playing way too much, and poor Matt Wallner's inconsistency, and the team's stubborn failure to advance runners ( just bunt the damn runner over in extra innings) and then Pablo's injury, which just sunk this ship. However, I realize that just when I think I am out, they will reel me back in. Gloom, despair and deep, deep misery.

    I feel if the pitchers were unhappy with Vasky, the pitchers would not make any comments about him, but would remain silent rather that lying about it. Look at the ERA differences when Jeffers is catching and Vasky is catching. in the article. How do you explain that?

    Plus Rod Carew needs to have some bunt lesson sessions with Vasquez and Rocco needs to let him bunt runners over.

    I say we should listen to the pitchers who praise Vazquez. The pitchers know more about his contributions to the team than anyone of us.

    It was time for the Twins to move on from Acala and to get what they could, which wasn't much. Good luck Jorge. This was a smart move by Boston and a needed move by the Twins and by Jorge.

    It would be an advantage to be a young baseball player and to have Buck and C-4 as mentors. They are special players who have experienced the highs and the lows of playing baseball for a living.

    Except for steals, Gaspar's numbers are the best of the 8 players mentioned. Why is he not number 1 on this list?

    The pitch which Cal Raleigh golfed for a home run was a good pitch by Paddock. Sure, it was in the middle of the plate, but it was so low that it may have been out of the strike zone.

    Good defense helps make good pitching. I don't want any more "thumpers" who either "thump" or strike out. The Twins batting averages have been steadily improving as the weather has warmed up. Most starting position players are hitting around .250, except for Lewis. Lewis is a mystery to me. I suggest a sports psychologist and Lewis have some long discussions to see what is going on. Or Lewis could just spend some quality time with C-4, who may be one of the smartest baseball players playing today. I would not trade any pitching right now. Even if the trading of Paddock, makes sense "for economic reasons", since he will be a free agent at the end of the year, great teams win now and don't always "wait til next year". Especially during a pennant race, which would send a negative message to the rest of the team. This team has great chemistry. Don't change the formular. The bullpen has been very good. When will Danny C. return? He is an important missing piece of this puzzle.

    My eye test and the TV strike zone box seemed to show that home plate umpire, Mr. Austin Jones, was awful at calling balls and strikes last night. In fact he has replaced retired umpires, Joe West and Angel Hernandez (they were tied), as my least favorite umpire.

    It was an interesting game to watch Mike. I enjoyed Adam Wainwright's inciteful comments during the game about pitching and the interview during the game with Pablo Lopez was a classic interview, which showed the difference between "pitchers" and "throwers". Pablo Lopez has surpassed Camilo Pascual as my favorite Twins pitcher of all time.

    Thanks for that post T and R. I'm glad my observations about McC's fielding and speed were not correct.

    McCusker is a real liability in the OF. He needs to DH or learn to play 1B, and stop striking out so much.
