  1. Taylor would probably be a positive asset for CF for the Twins for at least 2024. We pay for insurance policies but hope we won't need to collect them. Try to re-sign Taylor for 2024.
  2. Give Miranda a chance to redeem himself first. There is really little need to replace Solano with players who are outside the Twins organization. There are enough players already available.
  3. Looks like the Twins drafted a talented 18 year old who is driven to succeed. He appears to be saying all the right things. He can talk the talk. I sincerely believe he will also walk the walk.
  4. I really enjoyed Donnie Barrels this past year. He set personal records. Next year, I hope he does as well or better, but that is not a chance I would want the Twins to take. In addition the Twins have too many other, younger, faster, more powerful and frankly, better defensive players, already available in the organization. The odds are against Solano returning to the Twins in 2024.
  5. I looked up stats for Walter Johnson, Sam Rice, Goose Goslin, Bucky Harris, Cecil Travis, Joe Cronin and last but not least, Heinie Manush, all Washington Senators Hall of Famers. I know Killebrew, Oliva and Kaat played for the Senators before they were Twins. I would substitute Walter "The Big Train" Johnson for Jack, "One Year Twins' Wonder" aka, the winning pitcher of the greatest World Series game ever played, Morris). I would chose Camilio "Little Potato" Pascual , who pitched for the pitiful Senators and the rising Twins, instead of Frank Viola. Pascual had one of the the best curves in baseball. Earl Battey would be my second catcher. He was a class act. I did not give much weight to former Senator's catchers, Muddy Ruel or Clint "Scrap Iron" Courtney, but I considered them. I would put Roy Sievers in LF, followed by Shane Mack as a defensive substitute in LF. I would not put Chuck Knoblach on my team, just because I did not like his persona and would let Rod Carew play ever inning of every game. However if Carew were hurt or needed a rest, I would put Brian Dozier at 2B. Thanks for mentioning the old Washington Senators, JD. They were my boy-hood team, that led me to be a life-long Twins' fan, when they left my birthplace of Washington, DC. The Washington Senators were "First in War, First in Peace, and Last in the American League."
  6. If I were the Twins, I would absolutely do something substantial to reward Duran. Seth's proposal looks to be well thought out and would be a guaranteed, life changing contract for Duran, no matter what, and reasonable for the Twins, considering the potential risks. Nice job Seth.
  7. Thank you, Peter for putting this article and the videos together. I had so much fun watching each one. It is hard to pick a favorite one. I'm glad you included Joey Gallo's HR. Gallo seems like a flawed character in a novel or a play, who can't control a bad habit or addiction (strikeouts), but every now and then, has momentary success..he hits long homeruns, and lives happily ever after. I wish him well in the future chapters of his life, be it playing baseball, or retiring from baseball so he can teach and/or spend more time with his family, enjoying the 10's of millions of dollars he has earned by playing baseball.
  8. Great job Cody. I am so glad I don't have to make these decisions.
  9. I was very upset when the Twins traded Petty for Gray. I was wrong. The FO deserves praise for this trade.
  10. Great retirement announcement. Retirement comes to most of us...if we are lucky. It is nothing to fear. It brings new opportunities to serve others, to laugh, to love and to enjoy this one life each of us has been given. Thanks for the memories Trevor. Now go make some new memories.
  11. What an awesome man-cave. Tell your son, "Welcome to North Carolina". He can still be a huge Twins' fan here in North Carolina. I am. Charlotte was a Senators/Twins minor league team for decades. Unfortunately, the Charlotte franchise has now gone over to the dark side (White Sox). Mark Davidson ('87 Twins) played at Clemson and UNC-Charlotte and resided in my hometown of Statesville, NC for years. Bailey Ober is from Huntersville, NC and Ryan Jeffers attended UNC-Wilmington and lives in Raleigh. Don't let your son forget Twins top prospect (or #2 prospect) Walker Jenkins is from Southport, NC. I need to form a North Carolina Twins fan club. Our fight song would be: "We're Gonna Win Twins, Ya'll"
  12. Really nice article which explains the most pressing offseason needs as they exist today. I look forward to the forthcoming offseason detailed TD articles and comments about each of these pressing needs. Pros and cons. Lots of variables. Interesting stuff. Thanks Nick.
  13. Difficult decisions to be made. I have confidence this FO will make the correct decisions. I hate to see any of these players go, but it is as inevitable as death and taxes.
  14. Alternating them during the season worked better than allowing Jeffers to play every game in the playoffs.
  15. Shadows and cold weather and rain and snow would not have been a problem if the stadium had been built with a retractable roof. Just open the roof during the beautiful Minnesota summer days and close it during the uncomfortable for baseball, cold and wet Minnesota days.
  16. If I were Vazquez, I would feel embarrassed and disrespected. I disagreed with not alternating him with Jeffers during the playoffs. That had proven to be successful for both catchers and the pitchers during the regular season. Rocco needs to have a long talk with Vazquez and frankly, admit that he (Rocco) had made a mistake in not allowing Vazquez to play, particularly against his former team, Houston. I know this is not Little League, but I'm afraid Rocco has created a problem for the next two years, if Vazquez is not traded to another team.
  17. The chart which is included with this article is confusing to me. Does the chart show that he can't hit pitches which are low and in the strike zone or is it showing he can't hit pitches thrown low and out of the strike zone? Where is the strike zone in this chart?
  18. After watching today's 9 to 1 loss to Houston, I have one question: "When does the 2024 draft take place?"
  19. I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE! Thank you. I feel better now.
  20. It surely is nice to be October and discussing the Twins playoff games and not discussing the June 2024 draft.
  21. Incredible amount of information in this article. Thank you for your attention to detail. Fascinating.
  22. Seth, I agree that I was pleasantly surprised with AJ and Wainwright. But then anything would have been an improvement over A-Rod and the Yankees announcer.
