  1. Mejia is turning into a pretty good pitcher. That slider is a weapon.
  2. I feel like I really only need to watch the Twins on the days when Erv and The Machine pitch. It's tough to be down about the Chicago series...we won the series! The 9-0 loss didn't bother me as much as watching Turley try to throw fastball after fastball (93 mph) past MLB hitters and then watching them fly over the fence or get smoked. And then I start thinking that there wasn't anyone in the minors better than him? That's when the depression sets in. It makes be wonder when Gimenez is going to get to start a ballgame on the mound.
  3. We've won two in a row...are we surging?
  4. "fading club"...we're 1.5 out! Rosario lacks discipline and consistency, but he loves the pressure. He's a gamer. He will get there.
  5. I get that, but I also know that it is easier to attract the pieces we need to put us over the top if we make the playoffs. Erv is also a great mentor for the potential ace that we have in Berrios.
  6. I maintain that any team in contention should not be sellers. Once you make the playoffs, anything can happen. The hot team wins...not necessarily the best team. The Astros should win the WS this year...but one stumble and they are on the couch with the rest of us. What was the Twins record in 1987? At 85-77 we were considered the worst team in the playoffs.
  7. Up or down? Whenever I find myself getting down about our Twins, I remind myself of the expectations going into the season...kinda puts it all in perspective. First place on June 6? Never dreamed it. Robby Grossman doing well at DH? I was critical of keeping him on the team over Park. As far as this series, win 1 of 3 and we are still 4-3 on the road trip. Win 1 of 3 against the Giants and we are 5-5 for the road trip and that's all you need to do AS LONG AS you win 6 of 10 at home...and that seems to be the tough part so far this year. I expect it to even out as the year goes on.
  8. Kintzler has an attack the strike zone attitude. I think his attitude is perfect for a closer and I wouldn't remove him from that role.
  9. "Gee Wally...." Not sure how many times I heard that watching Leave It to Beaver....which made me think of one of the top Angels of all time - Wally Joyner...which got me thinking to the greatest Twins of all time....
  10. For some reason, I just think a no-hitter is gonna be thrown tonight. Not necessarily in this game, but in MLB.
  11. Wait. If you're typing this on a computer, it's all just 1's and 0's. Letters can be added together. The letter i is hexadecimal 69 which is binary 1101001...it's all ball bearing these days!
  12. If only this were NFL format. Then we would be advertising that we are taking Greene no matter if we are or not. SD would then trade up with us and we would get who we probably wanted anyway along with another of their picks or we could get a prospect in the trade....but it isn't the NFL draft. Take him, sign him, and then trade him to SD for a boatload of prospects.
  13. But he looked great in the last inning!...much like that girl at the bar at closing time.
  14. Buxtton may be 1 for his last 11, but he has hit some ropes right at guys.
  15. Hitting is indeed contagious. Let's hope the O's don't catch the bug.
  16. I think this is appropriate given the weather lately.
  17. I am a believer now...a converted negative Nelly, I suppose. That said, I just want the rain to stop, the sun to shine, and our Twins it win one of these games in Baltimore. While I'm sure the guys could use a days rest after yesterday's double header, I'm not sure a rain out is the right answer.
  18. Almost forgot. Yesterday, my wife went to a meeting where Ron Darling spoke. They gave out prizes and she ends up with a baseball signed by Ron Darling, Keith Hernandez, and "some other guy". I ask who and she says "I don't know, but his signature looks like Santa Claus or something with an S". I spend the day wondering who played with Hernandez and Darling and I can't figure out anything until she comes home with the baseball and I see the signature with the #34. It's signed by Noah Syndergaard....uhm yeah...he's one of the best pitchers in the game. #Thor....her response - "oh, he has got to cut that hair, that's just unattractive".
  19. No there isn't...matter of fact there aren't any French restaurants here...except that the origin of the word restaurant is French. So, I guess you could say there are a whole bunch of French restaurants here...and everywhere. Minerva's is probably the best in Sioux Falls, but there are a number of good eateries here.
  20. Living near Sioux Falls and working for one of those banks, I can attest to the population imbalance and the existence of rogue oranges, basketballs, and automobiles...basicly anything that rolls. I've found many rogue golf balls and have lost many that simply rolled away into oblivion. The bank thing actually started in the early eighties when then governor Bill (Wild Bill) Janklow shook hands with Citibank when they were expanding their credit card footprint. South Dakota removed the limits to how much interest could be charged that were in existence in New York. The avalanche of credit card companies (banks) began and still exists (although it has calmed down considerably as other states caught on). Not only do we not have a corporate income tax, we don't have a personal income tax either. Property taxes on the other hand....
  21. Here's what I would do about Hughes - not put Robbie Grossman in the outfield behind him.
  22. Interesting that the Yankees have a home OPS of .871 (I hate that little league park) and an away OPS of .740 (still a good road OPS), but between them and the Rockies, those have to be two of the largest home/road OPS disparities. ...and now that I've checked - Arizona with an .886/.608 split. Impressive!
  23. Foster Brooks - I remember that dude. I think I read once that he didn't drink any more...or any less!
  24. Sorry, that's what happens when I post around lunch time.
