  1. I've only been to Chicago once. I found it really gray and drab. Went for a run every morning to the Navy pier. Road the L, visited my cousin, road it back at 10pm and didn't exactly feel safe (understatement). Went to the top of the John Hancock building to kill some time. Ate a great pizza, can't remember the place, but it was a really popular and really good deep dish pizza. Outside of that, I'd say one of the more interesting things I've read about Chicago is a guy by the name of Horatio Spafford. Won't go into details, but google it sometime.
  2. The beauty of this is that it was against the Red Sox and will be all over the sports highlights.
  3. Whoooooo! I'll take the win!...and Audra Martin....jk. I'll just take the win and stay married.
  4. Maybe these Springsteen lyrics will best describe our Twins - "Show a little faith, there's magic in the night. You ain't a beauty, but hey, you're alright".
  5. Also, always liked the up tempo No Surrender - "we learned more from a 3 minute record baby than we ever learned in school".
  6. Good point but for some reason I find it less irritating when it's put to music.
  7. I am a huge fan of Springsteen's music, but like many entertainers, wish he would keep his political views to himself...shut up and entertain us. I've always though Born to Run was a candidate for the best rock and roll song ever. Love Jungleland. Agree on Thunder Road. Favorite lyric from a Springsteen song - "Poor man wanna be rich, rich man wanna be king, and the king ain't satisfied till he rules everything"
  8. LOLOLOL! Obviously, I'm not Catholic.
  9. Just curious but if a player is Catholic and goes to mass on Good Friday before the game, do they play the game with the ashes on their forehead? Has anyone ever seen that?
  10. Remember boys, you really don't know what you've got until June...unless you start 0-9 and only score 14 runs, but even then we went on a 4 game win streak. The goal is to go .500 on the road and win 2 of 3 at home. Do that and you get meaningful games in September. So, just win one in Detroit and you are on track for the .500 on the road. We will score runs. Right now, Sano, Castro, and Polanco are kind of carrying us. The focus might be on Buxton, but there are plenty of guys who have yet to find their groove.
  11. Don't put it on a T for V-mart. Rather walk him.
  12. If Cabrera doesn't win this, he's in slump. That's right...I'm being over dramatic.
  13. When you're in a slump, every pitch seems like a pitchers pitch and catches the corner.
  14. Regarding Buxton, about the time I start writing him off, he hits a single to left center that he and only he turns into a double. I think eventually, he will be fine. I don't want him sent down as he is a game changer on the field. I would like to see him bunt more...especially during a slump.
  15. Why would they put on a pull shift for Castro? Dude has hit opposite field about half the time this year.
  16. Lots of the things that have already been mentioned - Sano at bats, Polanco, Castro, etc...and this. Our pitchers are challenging batters inside more than I can ever remember. We used to pitch like we were afraid of hitting guys. Now we are serving notice that they better not get too comfortable in the box. That has opened up the outside corner and allowed our pitchers to have success. Also, it seems like the plate has shrunk. The corners aren't being called as often. It's early for the umps too.
  17. It's one game and I'm not peeing on the parade. Considering it's been 9 seasons since we won an opener, let's take it and run. From what I can see in one game, we have some issues...but the outfield isn't one of them. DH is. That will need to be fixed. Having a DH that isn't a threat to hit double digit home runs for a year is an issue. Agree with the left side of the infield assessment - do the routine, catch the balls that you should catch and make the throws that you need to make and we are good. Fly balls are an adventure for Sano though...and that will come back to bite us. It seemed to me that the ump had a pretty small zone. While Buxton didn't get a hit, he did have one really good at bat that drove up the pitch count. If the young guys can have quality at bats, it really helps to wear down a pitcher and Duffy was clearly the tougher pitcher...but he didn't win. That's baseball.
  18. Robbie Grossman at DH...that's all you need to hear to know that the roster needs to change quickly.
  19. The thing that I'm struggling with on the Park decision is that he struggled with guys who could throw 95 mph heat last year. By all reports, he has worked on it and made big improvements. His reward? Back to the minors. What kind of a message does that send to him and the rest of the guys in the minors? Work hard and improve on your weaknesses and you won't be rewarded....but work hard and improve on your weaknesses!
  20. I'm with spycake. I jumped off the Tonkin bandwagon quite a while back. He isn't fooling anyone with the heater and no one is swinging at the hook. His fastball has no movement...other than moving into the seats rather quickly.
