  1. "some pop"...just not enough pop to overcome the bad defense. I wish the guy well, but I don't see me missing him. Grossman at least isn't considered a liability in the outfield whereas I would have to say that Arcia is. Grossman doesn't have as much pop as teams would like...but we are the Twins. We have a first baseman who lacks pop.
  2. I think they are hesitant to send Park down because they think he can benefit from seeing more MLB pitching. The guy obviously has power and can play a decent 1B. I think the more MLB pitching he sees, the better off he's going to be for the next 2.5 years.
  3. I think this is the last time we see Arcia in a Twins uniform and possibly in a MLB uniform. The reason I say this is because he is not a good outfielder. He has some pop, but not enough to overshadow his poor defense. That makes him a bad candidate for a NL team. So, what AL team is looking for a DH?...I mean other than the Twins. Think about it. If the Twins don't want him as a DH, who does?
  4. Did you know that Thing was actually the hand of Ted Cassidy...the dude who played Lurch?
  5. "He's only 30". Look at the stats for pitchers over 30. It's not pretty. They don't get better. So, if you can get something for the guy, get it.
  6. In honor of the walk off by Kepler, I propose we all hoist a cold Shoffenhofer beer!
  7. Speaking of beer. Anyone ever had a Shoffenhofer? Grapefruit beer! I'm not big on ruining beer with fruit, but it is really refreshing on a hot day.
  8. No Bud, no Miller, no Hamn's in my fridge...only my lady friend Stella.
  9. While I can appreciate the marketing effort, the economics still don't add up. You can get tix on stubhub for roughly at 50 percent discount. Giving a season ticket holder a 20 percent discount may lessen the amount of money that he/she loses, but that's not exactly a selling point. Want me to buy season tickets? Offer to buy them back at the halfway point of the season if the team is under .400 winning percentage.
  10. One additional benny. Pretty tough to raise ticket prices or any other prices after a year like this. Now whether you want to pay the current price to go is another subject. Once could even make the case that they should drop ticket prices if they want to get people in to the park.
  11. "I'm travelin' down that lonesome road Feel like I'm dragging a heavy load Yeah, I've tried to turn my head away Feel about the same most every day You know what I'm talking about, baby" Seems pretty appropriate for Molly's situation. And it just so happens that Molly Hatchet is from Florida.
  12. Come to think of it, Molly needs to adopt Flirtin' with Disaster as a managerial walkup song.
  13. Some Molly Hatchet playing Flirtin' with Disaster in the background.
  14. I just returned from the great state of Florida. Good thing we aren't playing down there or we would be paddling between bases. No point in calling off a game for rain between these two teams...mud would make for a great enhancement to the game.
  15. When Sano comes back, why should it be an automatic that we put him back in right field? Never mind trading Plouffe or the market for him. If the Twins have both on the roster, what's the harm in putting Sano at 3rd and putting Plouffe in right? Is Plouffe gonna be worse than Sano in right? Maybe, but who cares? We stink. Is Sano gonna be worse than Plouffe at 3rd? Maybe, but who cares? We stink. Long term, Plouffe isn't in our plans. Sano at 3rd is in the plans. So, why not put the future into motion now? Why management keeps trotting Sano out to right field as if that is is future position on the team is beyond comprehension.
  16. My 12 year old just watched that pitch from Hughes and said "meatball".
  17. So.....we're not winning the World Series?....or are you saying there's a chance?
  18. Makes you wonder if Fox Sports just does a pregame meeting to discuss what both announcers will talk about.
  19. Down in Florida on vacation and watchign the game on the FSS channel with the TB Rays announcers. Kind of nice to get their perspective. They seem pretty good. They were just talking about the possibility of Nunez to the All Star team.
  20. Does this mean no Purple Rain for the 8th inning break?
  21. As an apology, I would like to offer up this 18 minute version of Purple Rain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ew4lmeebU8
  22. "I never meant to cause you any sorrow. I never meant to cause you any pain...." perhaps the Twins could actually come out of the dugout and sing it to the fans.
  23. Also, Genesis (the book) doesn't say that Noah built an ark in 7 days. Actually, it could have taken him 100 years. But I do like Genesis the band even if they say that Noah built it in 7 days.
  24. Also, Purple Rain...I think this is a year in which we need some cleansing. Not the kind that sends you in a frantic dash to the bathroom every 5 minutes after downing that nasty colonoscopy stuff. Rather, the kind that makes us forget the baseball that we've seen. Therefore, I would like to propose that in the 8th inning of all Twins baseball games, Purple Rain should be played. Hey, the Red Sox have their Sweet Caroline. Why can't we have our Purple Rain?
