  1. I'm not in the trade Dozier camp...UNLESS it reaps major league ready elite talent either at SS, catcher, or SP. That said, I'd love to see what Polanco can do at SS after an offseason of work to prepare him for the position. I don't think it's fair to put him at SS when he hasn't had any real time over there any more than I think it was fair to put Sano in RF without any real time out there.
  2. Yeah. The entire MLB has gone the way of the big throwers and the Twins are late to the party. I wish they would buck the trend. I'm not a proponent for the the following reasons: 1. More elbow and shoulder problems. 2. The faster the pitch, the further it goes. Make the hitter generate their power. Late movement is what the Twins should be looking for in a pitcher. A 95 mph fastball that goes straight is easier to hit than a 90 mph fastball with late movement.
  3. I get my hair cut by the daughter of a former World Series MVP. Shout out to my girl Donna.
  4. Word on the street is that you were out when you lifted your leg during the interview.
  5. I don't know that it's a given that there will be house cleaning. I know that the "total system failure" line was used this year, but, if you look at what it takes for a championship team, the entire system has to work - scouting, development, statistics, coaching at every level, medical/trainers, etc.. If even one of those areas fail, the house can tumble down in a hurry and when the house crumbles like it did this year, I don't think it is a given that every area failed. I think that is the biggest challenge for the new person/people. Figuring out what parts to keep in place and what parts to replace.
  6. I'm OK with them staying in the dugout except for special occasions, but don't sit on the bench. At least show respect for the flag and for those who died to give us the right to protest our imperfections. Nuff said. Don't need to start a debate.
  7. #18 - because the players still stand for the national anthem at baseball games.
  8. http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/03147/Jess_Smith-Teletub_3147215c.jpg This is what the Teletubbies sun baby grew up to be.
  9. Wait a second! Am I the only one to notice that you used the baby face sun from the Teletubbies? The season truly has spiraled out of control.
  10. Well, third base may be troubling, but what do you do with Polanco if he can't play short? I don't see them trading Dozier to put Polanco at 2nd unless they get a treasure trove for Dozier in a trade. I don't see that happening. Trade Polanco?
  11. Don't mean to get off topic....we NEVER do that! But am I the only one not buying into the Dak Prescott hype? It's preseason...vanilla defenses, etc. and people are all worked up over him.
  12. but 7 percent alcohol...it's cheap when you compare the amount of alcohol.
  13. As I have said before, the more IF's a team has, the less likely they will have success. So, expectations for next year are very low. I would say that Plouffe get's resigned and he and Sano will split 3rd base duties in an effort to keep Plouffe healthy and to let Sano continue to develop while keeping his bat in the lineup between DH and playing 3rd....which leads to one more question. Will Park come back from surgery and showcase the power that he flashed at times? Another if.
  14. I yelled at the TV when I saw him charging in to make the throw...and as crazy a play as it was, if JRM catches the ball, I think the guy is out at home.
  15. I like the idea of expanding the scouting department and hate the idea of trading away prospects, but that might have to be done to get pitching. I don't want to trade Buxton, Sano, or Kepler.
  16. Here's one of the issues that is tough to calculate. Dozier is a home run threat and that affects not only how he is pitched, but also how the guy in front of him is pitched. For example, if Dozier is leading off, the #9 batter should see better pitches especially with 2 outs. Walking the guy in front of a home run hitter is a recipe for disaster. If we trade Dozier, it can't be for a prospect. It has to be for a really good short stop, a really good catcher, or a really good pitcher.
  17. I think the more interesting thing is to think ahead to your predictions for next year. Yikes!....52 wins...uuuuhhhh...8000 runs allowed...5 sleeping fans killed or injured by rockets hit to the stands in the oufield.
  18. If Rob Antony is making the roster moves, I think I've seen enough. Why are we bringing up guys that really don't have a future with the MLB team (Albers, Shafer) over guys that either need the time up in the MLB for them to have a better future (Buxton), or guys who we need to get a look at at the highest level (Wheeler).
  19. Then they need to pound more monkeys!
  20. There we go! Now if we can get a log of everyone's favorite Canadian beer. Used to be Molson Ice back when they made Molson Ice and I was listening to Loverboy. Nowadays, I'd probably try something a little more out there like Flying Monkeys Acadian Groove Canadian Maple Porter....it sounds like fun!
  21. First of all, the polar bears all stopped looking for Seal after he and Heidi Klum divorced. They, like many, are now focused entirely on Heidi Klum and are watching America's Got Talent every night that is on. Apparently, polar bears have a good eye for "talent". Secondly, no mention of Nickelback or, for us older gents, Loverboy? Blasphemy!

  23. OK, so once again, we have the worst pitching in the majors going by BAA...and it isn't close. One can argue that a better defense could cut that down, but if you've watched any games recently, our opponents are hitting rockets. If you go all the way back to 2011, the highest the Twins have been in BAA is....wait for it....28th! There are only 30 teams in MLB and in the last 7 years, we have been dead last in pitching 4 of those years, 29th one time, 28th another, and there was that one glorious season where we ranked 24th (2010). Now, I'm no rocket scientist, but it would seem to me that we have a problem in the pitching area. One would think that a GM should probably turn his or her focus to that area of the organization...just a thought.
  24. One of the key mistakes that Terry Ryan made was to give long term contracts to guys that were 30+ years old. The numbers will show that guys not named Roger Clemens tend to fall off a cliff at or just a little beyond the big 3-0. That goes for relievers as well as starters. Yet we kept making the same mistake over and over hoping to defy the odds. It was the definition of insanity. At some point we need to cut the cord on the pitchers that are 30+ and go with youth. Rather than sending them down after 1 bad start, we have to ride it out...especially in a season that was lost in April.
