  1. A couple of days ago, I said I felt a streak coming on. I think we have to win one more for it to qualify as a streak...maybe 2 more...or 3...
  2. If they weren't good enough to go for it, why acquire Garcia? I get it that a tough west coast trip coincided with a Cleveland and Royals run, but here we sit just 3.5 back of the wildcard...so what if we get beat in the first round. It's playoff experience for the core 4. They didn't need to buy more, just stand pat with what they had and instead they sold.
  3. I'm feeling a streak coming on...it might be winning...it might be losing...it might be me running around the house naked...but there will be a streak!

  5. That's not right....Cindy Morgan, correct?
  6. It looks like a young Lisa Kudrow, but I'm not sure she was even born then.
  7. ...and people who follow golfers around that look like her! I might even start golfing more often if we had that.
  8. Mud wrestling? Oh wait...that's a bonus. Concert and mud wrestling. Let's hear the details.
  9. or a Twins team without a Jaime....darn it that was close. Just gotta cut off the eeee.
  10. Well, just to have my bases covered, I'm going to Mankato on Tuesday and then to the Sea of Japan. I'm afraid if I reversed it, I might miss the Vikes.
  11. Let's panic...seems like the right thing to do. This is the toughest part of our schedule which gets much better after this road trip while Cleveland's schedule gets much tougher. The Dodgers are good. They rarely swing at borderline pitches outside of the zone. They are very good at getting into predictable counts and hitting their pitch. We can learn from this and get better.
  12. Just out of curiosity, when is Joe Morgan going to make an appearance in the Joe M conversations? He could flap his left arm like a chicken wing and give advice on how to fly in a circle (kinda what happens to birds with one wing).
  13. I'd like to see a road sweep of the Dodgers...of course then there would be accusations of Russian collusion and it would just get ugly. Hmmm...maybe a split would be better.
  14. 3:04pm: It is still possible that the Twins will acquire Garcia, though MLB.com’s Mark Bowman reports that such a trade is “not probable.”
  15. I think the money depends on the prospect from what I've heard...better prospect, less money or vice versa. Not sure they are coming to terms on that part so the Braves are applying some pressure by talking to other teams. Smart thing to do on their part.
  16. Sounds like Braves are trying to pit teams against each other to maximize the return. I would hope the Twins stand pat and don't give up too much for Garcia. Walk away if we have to.
  17. Actually, if we do acquire Garcia, that could work well for a double header tomorrow.
  18. Happy Anniversary and I like today's Joe M. conversation. Montana working as a 911 operator for relaxation purposes was a nice touch. Buyers! I like it. I think that sends a message to most of the team that the F.O. has faith in them. I say most of the team because some pitcher is getting bumped from the squad. Any idea who?
  19. Let's not discount the importance of getting playoff experience to a bunch of young guys. First round exit? Probably, but we are just young and dumb enough to ignore the experts and make some noise in the playoffs. Trade away Kintzler? He has proven to be reliable. Think of how frustrating it would be to have a talented group of young players and an unreliable closer. I see a lot of people down on Pressly. I get it...but I also remember a guy who was pretty solid last year. His velocity is still good and his breaking ball can be nasty when he throws it for strikes. This year, that has been an issue and guys are waiting on the fastball. Get his breaking ball consistently into the strike zone and he'll be solid again.
  20. Well, here we are a half game out of first and a half game out of the wild card. Many of the pundits have said "Let's see where they are after facing the Astros, Yankees, and Dodgers in July. So far, so good. I'd love to stick it to the Tigers this weekend before the west coast road trip. IF we come out of July and we are within 3 games of the lead/wildcard, I like our chances. August schedule isn't bad including 8 vs the pale hose while Cleveland's schedule for August looks nasty with 13 of their games against Boston and NY.
  21. Otherwise known as Aunt Happybutt...gladass, happy butt, what's the diff?
  22. You would have thought they would have had a female chuckar with a baby in her arms....a mother chukar!
  23. Two stats that I wish were kept are wasted pitches by a pitcher (pitches that are so far out of the strike zone that they do not challenge a hitter) and wasted swings by a batter (pitches that are swung at that are not close to the strike zone). It seems like when a hitter is in the zone, they stay back, explode on the ball that is in the strike zone. When they are not in the zone, they make up their mind too early to swing and swing at pitches that they have little chance of getting a bat on. On the other side of the ball, it drives me nuts to see a pitcher try to go high in the zone and throw a pitch that is higher than the batters head or try to throw an outside pitch and watch it sail a foot outside.
  24. Baseball and the buffet been berry berry good to him.
