    Man, Bert is really on the decline this year. Can't say names, can't recognize pitches anymore.

    Not our night...fortunately the other teams in contention have either already lost or are trailing. Maybe it is our night after all.

    Looking ahead to the weekend, we obviously have 3 more at the Royals, but here is a look at the rest of the pack. I think we could see a few fall from the pack this weekend. Los Angeles is at Seattle Baltimore is at the red hot Cleveland Tampa is at Boston Texas hosts the Yankees I'd expect to see Texas and Baltimore fall back a bit, but it's baseball and weird things happen. Here's hoping that our Twins can keep swimming.

    Delmon's defense stunk and Eddie's arm is pretty darn good. Coupled with that the fact that Rosario is having a pretty good year and seems to be on the upswing. He also seems to be getting along pretty well with his teammates....OK, he's nothing like Delmon Young.

    Yankees finish with 14 of their last 17 at home. Angels finish with 12 of their last 19 at home, but 9 of those 19 games are against Cleveland and Houston. Orioles finish with 15 on the road and 7 at home with 10 of those games against, NYY, Cleveland, and BoSox. The key to our Twins will be the 10 game road trip against the Yankees, Detroit, and Cleveland. Make or break right there.

    Something about sweeping the Sox is really sweet...oh yeah! It's that Hawk Harrelson guy! Love to hear the sound of silence from Hawk. I'd like to think the Sox are in rebuilding mode, but I think they depleted their farm system during the "All In" era.

    We could be tied with the Yankees for the top WC spot at the end of the day. As I looked ahead to Septembers schedule, it won't be easy to hold the WC spot. 17 on the road vs 12 at home and the opponents aren't the White Sox. Hey, at least they are all meaningful games. We need to get some guys healthy and productive again.

    As an owner of chickens, I'm finding this whole chicken dinner thing kind of offensive. It brings out the inner snowflake in me and I suddenly feel the need to protest in the streets, post something on Twitter, and start a GoFundMe page while respecting the right for free speech....unless it offends me.

    Well, there's no doubt in my mind that MLB wants the ball leaving the park. So, if the baseballs are juiced, it's great for the fans and the hitters, but where does that leave the pitchers when it comes to HOF voting?

    Interesting article a while back in USA Today. Pitchers are convinced that something isn't right with the baseball this year. They think it is "juiced". https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2017/06/29/mlb-juiced-ball-home-runs/440203001/ The last time I heard this kind of talk was right before the ugly truth came out. I don't know if it is the baseball, the speed that guys are throwing, the mechanics of the swings, the talent of the players, the all or nothing approach at the plate, or....another ugly truth lurking out there, but MLB hitters are on pace to break the home run record by nearly 500 dingers. That's 500 more than when MLB was in the middle of that ugly truth era.

    Not sure that I agree with the part about flipping Garcia for a better prospect. We paid 4 million for 1 win and a better prospect.

    Helped coach my son's team to a championship and was excited that he quit football the next year. I felt like we had tempted fate and got away with it. I saw kids that were 9-10 years old get blown up and it only gets worse as the kids that develop early can really hit a smaller kid hard. Nowadays he's into basketball and likes to do fantasy football with me. If it wasn't for that, I would have no interest in football.

    Yup. Got it. Came in with a 1 run lead and left after pitching a full inning without holding that lead. Didn't take the loss but helped it along....and I still would like 4-5 more wins.

    I think Koufax also threw a perfect game...just some icing on his cake.

    Oh, that's true because it was tied in the 9th. I'd still like 4 more wins though!

    I think that's 5 blown saves since we traded away our all-star closer. I know that he didn't and still doesn't have the stuff that blows people away, but he had the attitude of a closer and made them hit his pitch. I hated that trade because I thought the August schedule was weak. Every save that we blow, I hate the trade even more. 4-5 more wins would sure look good right now.

    Beat me to the punch...now, do we have any Gardy's out there? I would say they state the obvious..."the ball is coming of his hand really well".

    I don't think we have any mods that fit the mold, but I think we do have a few Ozzie Guillen's out there. Many of us would like to let a profanity laced post fly now and then and we all know that Ozzie loved to do that. I never thought Ozzie was particularly bright and I think many of us fit that mold as well.

    Concur as well, but I will say that, last night, he hustled down the line on a dribbler back to the pitcher and got on first due to an error by a poor throw. The previous night, he had runners on 1st and 3rd and did not hustle to first on turned out to be a poorly turned double play. When your skills are marginal, you can't afford not to hustle and do the little things that can elevate your status with the ball club.

    This game will come on just in time for dinner (or supper if you grew up on a farm) and I think the Twins are having meatballs....I think I will too!

    I'd stay the course. We aren't going to win the WS this year, but it would be nice to make the playoffs even if for a game. I think we have the team to do that along with the schedule to do that.
