  1. Might as well put out a tee and save some money.
  2. So, since Santana exited, the Astros have scored 38 runs in 20 innings of baseball. That's tee-ball numbers.
  3. I'd like to think that the Astros proved they are for real.
  4. Dang! There goes the perfect ERA.
  5. Buxton is now over the Mendoza line...that's a good thing. We play better on the road and we're leaving town, so that's a good thing. Uhmmmm, that's all I got...that's my attempt at a positive spin.
  6. If it's my MLB debut, and I'm called in to pitch in a blowout, I'm really tempted to bean the first guy. Who's gonna know? I'm nervous and my heater got away from me. Who can blame me?...it's my MLB debut, and my teammates are buying me beers after the game.
  7. I get the animosity toward Pressly, but he looked unhittable against Baltimore. I gotta figure something is physically not right with the guy. Belisle never looked like he had the stuff and I've always considered Breslow the junk baller that takes one for the team in a blowout.

  9. Astro – the term means “relating to the stars, celestial objects, or outer space” For many years the Houston Astros were floating around in outer space caught in a baseball orbit that saw them flailing around hopelessly and unable to gain any traction. Today’s Astros are no longer in orbit but have gently landed in first place in the AL West. Thanks to years of #1 picks they have become the team to beat in the AL West. A couple of notes to ponder: Astroturf – It seems to be a contradicting term. I mean, grass in outer space. C’mon, it hardly grows in my yard and certainly won’t grow in space. However, Astroturf is simply a brand name. The original AstroTurf brand product was invented in 1965 by three nutty guys working for Monsanto. It was patented in 1965 and originally sold under the name "ChemGrass." It was re-branded as AstroTurf by a company employee named John A. Wortmann after its first well-publicized use at the Houston Astrodome stadium in 1966. The Astrodome was originally going to have clear glass panels covering the stadium. However, a problem arose when the fielders were unable to catch fly balls due to the intense glare. The problem was solved by painting the panels, but another problem arose…the grass died without enough sunlight to keep it alive. Enter ChemGrass/Astroturf. Astro the dog – One of my favorite cartoon characters - “Rastro”. Astro was found by Elroy in one of the Jetsons first episodes. When Jane, Judy, and Elroy proposed keeping him to George, he was opposed to it and claimed that an apartment is no place for a dog. In an effort to make his family happy, he got an electronic doc named Electronimo who was supposed to be the new hairless, non-eating “dog” that also protected the house. When a burglar tried to rob the Jetsons, Electronimo attacked him (which he did to anyone wearing a mask). Elroy tried to wake Astro to get him to stop the burglar, but Astro hides. When the burglar puts the mask on George, Electronimo takes after George. While the burglar is trying to escape, Astro accidentally runs into him and catches him. George decides that Electronimo isn’t the way to go and Astro becomes part of the Jetson’s family. And that is how Astro came to be…3 years before the Houston Astros were renamed from the Houston Colt 45’s. Coincidentally, the Houston Colt 45’s were founded the same year that the Jetsons were created – 1962. The show is set in the year 2062, one hundred years from the date of its creation. Astrology - the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial objects as a means for divining information about human affairs and terrestrial events. I’ve never been one to believe in horoscopes. How can everyone that’s a Taurus possibly have the same thing happen to them day after day? It defies logic and logical is what I am…except when it comes to my skewed view of my favorite baseball team – our still first place Minnesota Twins! Lineups - TBD
  10. For some reason, I just think a no-hitter is gonna be thrown tonight. Not necessarily in this game, but in MLB.
  11. Wait. If you're typing this on a computer, it's all just 1's and 0's. Letters can be added together. The letter i is hexadecimal 69 which is binary 1101001...it's all ball bearing these days!
  12. Totally agree. In the past, the Twins were not an attractive option for top free agent pitchers and we had to overpay. What pitcher doesn't want to pitch with that outfield defense behind him for the next few years?
  13. The defense is also the reason that Santana & company are able to go deeper into games and save the bullpen. Making the plays that they should make along with a few that they shouldn't makes for shorter innings. It has a domino effect.
  14. I'm a believer now. This team has several game changers. I'm not saying they will win it all, but they will be competitive enough to play meaningful games in September and that is a welcomed relief after last year.
  15. Was it last year or the year before when we did a 4 game road sweep of the O's?
  16. Yeah, his front shoulder is pulling off the ball bad.
  17. Kintzler looked as sharp as I have ever seen him look.
  18. Our shutdown, door slammin' closer coming in the 9th to face Mancini, Schoop, and Hardy...what could possibly go wrong? LOL! Insurance anyone?
  19. Uh oh. We got us a ball game. I'm afraid we let them hang around too long.
  20. Machado has not had good at bats the last 2 games. Beyond just making outs, taking wildly aggressive swings. Seems like a man without a plan.
