    I don't buy it either. I've seen too much of this from Sano that I'm not buying all the "happy talk" excuses that are being posted here. I'm sorry Sano stinks more often than not. He may hit quite a few homeruns and display stunning power when he connects but mannnn his brutal k's, mediocre defense at first, and seemingly lackadaisical plate appearances are cringe worthy. He's just not an intelligent hitter from what i can tell and there doesn't appear to be any sort of progression from one year to the next, just a consistent 38-45% strikeout rate from one season to the next and routine "slow starts." I think it partly has to do with his conditioning, but that's just my opinion. The lack of eye at the plate is a skills thing. You can have all the power in the world but if you can't see pitches and figure out what to swing at and what not to swing at you are going to do what he does. He's always been a sucker of sorts for offspeed stuff and it's really hurting his career. I agree time to move on, i've seen enough.

    yep, this is his last year as a Twin most likely and i can't say i'll be that upset when he goes. I've seen enough of his slow months, lol. The bad outweighs the good in my opinion, time to move on.

    Trading Brusdar Graterol for Kenta Maeda still makes me cringe. Maeda is going to be 34 next season and to me it looks like the Twins are in semi rebuilding mode. I understand why they did it, but i would have liked to seen them hang onto him.

    My thoughts exactly. I mean the Correa deal is evidence enough. I mean sheesh they just signed the guy to a 105.3 million dollar deal! That's not exactly small potatoes.

    If he plays well CERTAINLY! Unless the pitching prospects make huge strides this season he's the perfect trade chip to load up on. Paddack does not get me enthusiastic. He fills a hole, but not much more than that.

    Realize this is very old, but extra draft choices are a total crap shoot. And yes it WAS assuming he was willing to resign with the Twins which he clearly wasn't.

    the low-grade tear of his UCL and the dip in his performance the last couple of seasons is a big red flag in my opinion. I don't know about the whole Union rep thing but hey whatever, it's not like these guys are making 10 bucks an hour and are fighting for .25 cent increases.

    You are assuming that he was willing to resign with the Twins, which we never got any indication of. The Twins tried at least 3 times (that we know of) to extend him and he rejected every overture they made to him. By all accounts he wanted to test the open market, free agency. That screams I want to get out of Minnesota. The Twins would have been absolutely foolish to just let him walk in free agency if that is the case. They made the right move in trading him while they still had a chance.

    sounds like the Twins have already made multiple offers to extend him and he's turned them all down. Time to trade i guess.

    Can the Twins accidently improve moving forward this season? Not likely, their pitching is the worst it's been since the mid 90's. This team will get worse once they peak on this current winning streak. They will quickly slide down into oblivion forever and ever and ever.

    Exactly. What is his average now .100? We'll be half way through the season with a sub .200 average season from him and the excuses will still be flying in on this forum. I call a spade a spade.

    I agree, at 80 pitches there's absolutely no reason Pineda can't at least start the eight inning. Facing the lineup a third time is overrated that late in the game IMO.

    I agree. I think a trade would be beneficial at some point to free up the spot at 1st or permanently move him to DH. it is what it is.

    We aren't going to see a return to pre 2020 covid attendance levels for the next few years i think. That's gonna hammer ALL sports franchises, not just MLB. I fully expect it to drag down salaries / reduce what owners are willing to spend on payrolls, and even cause contraction or relocation of many of the marginal franchises in MLB, NFL, NHL, etc. An Example is Tampa Bay which has consistently low attendance numbers and low revenue, but is being held hostage in a toilet bowl of a stadium by the City of St. Petersburg. In a few years they will be splitting games or will flat out relocate to someplace like Montreal (which i personally think is a terrible location given the LONG history of very low attendance numbers the Expos had in Olympic Stadium, another toilet bowl of a stadium), orrrr they may fold altogether.
