    I think they wait until expansion occurs. Makes no sense to shuffle things up until you add those two extra teams and figure out what is happening with the A's and Rays. Until their stadium situations are resolved (one way or the other) nothing is going to happen and no expansion or re-alignment will occur. Manfred knows this and the league knows he wants to expand. Part of this exploration of the Rays splitting time between Montreal and St. Petersburg is to put pressure on them to resolve the stadium situation. That said, I could see a scenario where the Rays move out of Florida to Charlotte, North Carolina and thereby staying in the AL East (at least for the time being) and the A's finally getting a new stadium once they secure a piece of land to build on. Once that happens then Manfred gets to expand adding a team in Nashville and another team in Portland or Vegas.

    I wonder if adding two more teams to the league and instituting a DH in the NL, the MLBPA might be willing to make that compromise.

    I agree on this point. MLB just needs to bite the bullet and buy out the Rays from Sternberg and move them to Charlotte and be done with it already. That way the Rays (or whatever they are renamed too) can stay in the AL east but are simply moved further up the Atlantic seaboard towards Boston and NY. Nashville could also be an option as well.

    I beg to differ on the point that "Montreal had lousy teams but good support". If by support you mean good attendance numbers. Other than 4 or 5 years in the late 70's & early 80's they never drew good crowds throughout their 35 years in Montreal. My opinion, just move them already to Charlotte, Nashville, Portland or Vegas. Those markets are growing population centers and likely could sustain a major league team.

    Maybe, maybe not. And the more games I watch the more I'm convinced this team needs another solid starter as well.

    Does not look promising heading into the all-star break at first glance. Twins have signed Ian Krol, Drew Hutchison and Cody Allen to minor league deals with the hope that one of them will turn it around and help solidify the bullpen. Yikes!

    Striking out at a 38% clip is a big problem. No excuses.

    Exactly might thoughts as well. I've always been a believer in leaders who are strong and firm, but also fair be it in sports or on the job. You have to know when to pat someone on the back vs. kicking them in the ass to get them going because some guys and gals need a kick in the ass not coddling or hand holding. Just my opinion, but I played 3 sports in high school and went on to play a sport in college and i've seen locker room behavior especially football. Believe me those guys don't need nap rooms and excessive hand holding. Baseball is definitely not the same on the field but you still have that dynamic in the clubhouse and those guys don't need cry rooms and soft talk from the manager. I'm not really into the catering to this generation or that generation as people are people and everyone is different. The golden rule is always a good place to start.

    I agree. I've been waiting for the Twins to give this guy a call for quite some time now. Hopefully he gets it soon the BP needs help.

    Also want to add that I don't have a problem with sports franchises taking a harder stance against smoking and dipping, meanwhile encouraging users to quit. It's not a matter of "IF" it's "WHEN" you eventually get cancer and then a roll of the dice whether or not you die. I've had multiple relatives pass away from lung cancer and I admit I was stubborn and dumb to do it myself. Encouraging our youth NOT to smoke and dip should be a high priority among-st us all, especially considering how difficult it is to quit. I did it cold turkey but a lot of people can't do that and Chantix has bad side effects for many.

    Never got into dip myself but i smoked for 15 years and quit a couple of years ago in my late 30's. Man i'm glad i stopped. I feel so much better and breath so much better instead of huffing and puffing whenever i do anything outdoors. Lung cancer due to smoking and mouth or lip cancer due to dipping ain't no joke.

    Eades looks promising. Man i wish we could have signed keuchel to a one year deal instead of the braves.

    From what i've seen of him he doesn't have the "heat" to blow hitters away with his fastball so that means pin point accuracy, deceptive delivery and good offspeed stuff to compensate and get guys out multiple times through the order. Not really sure he's got enough to be a starter in the major leagues but time will tell.

    I think it's difficult to compare these teams to the 2002-2009 era teams and still a long ways to go before the postseason to draw any conclusions. It's late May so way way too early yet, but I think should the front office make some moves to solidify the bullpen and possibly add a starter this team could make some noise in the post season. I'm cautiously optimistic.

    That would seem to be the logical next step. I never was a fan of Gonsalves from what i saw of him. Romero has better stuff, just needs refinement.

    I agree they need to add one more reliever.

    I'm not into the this generation is this and that generation is that but we'll see how Baldelli handles a struggling team in the future (hopefully not any time soon). All of this coddling talk and nap rooms? I mean comeonnnnn, were talking about grown men here playing baseball not a bunch of 2-3 year old kids that need a nap everyday at noon other wise you have to plop them in a cry room with coloring books, crayons and play-doh.

    I'm willing to let Pineda work the rust off at the back end of the rotation for now. I've seen enough Yankees games on the YES network to know that when he's on he's a 8+ strikeout per 9 inning pitcher and most teams would kill to have a guy like that as a #5 starter. When he's on he can do some serious damage to opposing lineups. I remember quite a few Yankee fans telling me that Twins fans will like what they see if he gets healthy and can work out the kinks.

    If this team keeps this up through the all-star break the front office has to go for it? I mean they would be absolutely crazy not to try and solidify the pen with another arm or two and try and possibly swing a deal for another starter.

    I kinda disagree here. They had some good hitters and power hitters too. Their starting rotation was not exceptional but certainly wasn't mediocre in my opinion.

    Well they better start making plans to trade him to the Yankees or Red Sox. In a year or two he won't be affordable to Pohlad and co.

    I think your right on. It appears that they are still heavily betting on Sano and Buxton rebounding and becoming the core of this team that we all dreamed they could be minus the inconsistencies. That's a BIG gamble and a leap of faith if you ask me. It looks to me that Falvey and Levine are just content adding a few cheap pieces (albeit good bargains), thereby saving the owner a few bucks in the interim and just seeing how things go. I'm not impressed with this strategy at all, especially now that Mauer is officially off the books. Don't get me wrong I'm encouraged that both Sano and Buxton appear to be heading in the right direction this off-season with their conditioning, but will that help them overcome their deficiencies at the plate? Only time will tell. Now that Mauer is gone the Twins have a MASSIVE hole in the lineup regardless of whether people liked him and his plate approach or not. These three additions are at best stop gap measures, nothing more.
