  1. It's a beautiful ballpark. Enjoy!
  2. I agree. Knowing how to win having done it before DOES make them dangerous even if they don't have the same talent level they had a few years ago.
  3. Or sign someone better. Don't get me wrong i like Taylor but he's a weak bat much of the time and I think the Twins can do better in CF. IMO Buxton's time has come and gone in CF. The guy simply can't stay healthy and certainly shouldn't be DHing or Pinch hitting in the playoffs for this team. I'd rather he ride the bench this post season. It's addition by subtraction. Buxton has had one season where he played 100+ games and didn't spend significant time on the disabled list or out with injury and that was 2017. Now look at Aaron judge as comparison. Aaron got called up in 2016, so one year later than Buxton, but look at the difference in games played. Aaron has recorded 5 seasons of 100+ games played in contrast to Buxton's ONE! Byron simply isn't a rugged player athletically. When a critical piece of the lineup is absent as much as he has been it's disruptive to the flow of the offense. When he comes back everyone has to adjust (disruption), then he's hurt again and the rest of the guys have to adjust (disruption), repeat, repeat, repeat. The lineup seems to be doing better now offensively and tha'ts because they've finally ADJUSTED. Buxton should probably retire honestly. It's really too bad.
  4. No that's someone that just plays through an injury. No leadership is required to do that. Sorry.
  5. I don't think it was serious. Lewis is a young guy he should bounce back. He'll be sore for a couple of days, just needs some rest and additional stretching. If he had torn something he likely would have gone down almost immediately. Hammy's are often a sign that an athlete's muscles were cold and not sufficiently warmed up before a burst of movement like sprinting or running. Long term could also mean that he needs to do some squats to strengthen that muscle group a bit. Perhaps the trainer needs to tell these guys to be actively stretching in the dugout before at-bat's, and maybe he has. I don't know.
  6. HONESTLY, I don't know why you two are still arguing about this. It's a moot point now. The Twins did better than was projected (slightly) and everyone should be happy with that. Don't get me wrong I would really like to see them finally win a playoff series in the first time in a gazillion years, but one thing at a time. They still have issues with the bullpen, which I had really hoped they would have been able to strengthen at the trade deadline, but weren't able to i guess. Still they've done better than I had expected especially with a down year from Correa and a disastrous season from Buxton. Imagine how good this team could have been with those two playing at their potentials. I was most impressed by the progress of the starting pitching and what I've seen so far from Royce Lewis. That kid is a stud and hopefully he can stay healthy because he has the potential to be something special. Like I said earlier, they have some things that need to be addressed in the coming offseason, but first let's finish off the season strong and try and do SOMETHING, ANYTHING in the playoffs. Cheers.
  7. yeah. Varland has had big ups and down this season but he has the makings of a fine pitcher (be it starter or reliever), just needs a bit more time in the majors me thinks.
  8. I think that's doable. The bullpen is what scares the bee gees out of me.
  9. Honestly what difference does it make at this point. They have a decent chance at 85 wins or more.
  10. Most likely not. The Plantar fasciitis is connected from the heel bone to your toes. The most likely cause is too much running, walking or running on hard surfaces, being overweight, etc. It can even be brought on by improper shoes. All that said Correa's down season can't be completely blamed soley on plantar fasciitis. The worst of it is when you wake up in the morning and first start walking around. As someone who suffered from it a few years ago and took almost 2 years to get rid of it, the pain is manageable and not unbearable once you stretch in the morning and start moving around. I was still able to run 5-10 miles a day several times a week until it went away. Correa's offensive struggles this year are not just plantar fasciitis. He's got some other unaddressed issues at the plate in my opinion.
  11. plantar fasciitis sucks. I suffered from it for almost 2 years straight. It can linger a long time before healing and the older you are the harder it is to deal with. Running on pavements or very hard surfaces can aggravate it. There are certain exercises and roll devices that you can use to help stretch out the tendons, but it still needs time to heal, honestly downtime.
  12. pretty good article. The Guardians will remain competitive I think and Detroit has a start but it will be a while yet for them. The White Sox are a dumpster fire at the moment and from what i've heard through the grapevine Reinsdorf wants a new stadium with a retractable roof after their lease expires in 2028.
  13. You can't help but like Keuchel. Guy has competitive spirit and wants to win badly. He pitched well. He still doesn't have enough velocity and never will, but in games like this against lesser opponents he might be able to squeak a few wins off. Note: The Rodriguez and Williams called 3rd strikes were awful terrible calls. That of course is not Keuchel's fault, he did what he had to.
  14. I'm not surprised considering how far he's come in so short of period of time he was eventually gonna hit a wall. I think how he does down the stretch here and into early 2024 will be telling.
  15. I would be tickled pink if the Twins rewarded Brooks Lee with a fall callup. That would be awesome. Kid has been fantastic this season.
  16. I think it works. Losing Arraez has been painful, but I still would have liked to have seen the Twins grab another of their starters and added more players on our end to make a deal happen. Luzardo or Alcantara (even though he's having a down year due partly due to serious struggles with his changeup).
  17. I'd be okay with the Twins giving him a 3 year deal. He's certainly better than anything they have ready to come out of the minors. Varland may get there eventually, but that's still an IF.
  18. I don't understand the fascination with SWR. His 2023 minor league numbers have been atrocious.
  19. I agree and it DOES hurt. If he could at least hit well he would be an acceptable TEMPORARY DH, but he's not even doing that. I would be inclined to just stick him in the outfield and let him play till the wheels fall off. What more can the team do? This seems to be a chronic problem for Buxton. If he's hurt (which is quite often), he's hurt and goes to the disabled list. Keep it simple. If it's some long-term injury durability issue then the Twins need to suck it up, accept it, make contingency plans, and move on, but parking him at DH (a position he's not suited for) is not the answer. Would he better fit as a CF sub / pinch hitter? I don't know.
  20. So essentially figure out a way to make a square plastic filter fit into a round slot using nothing but plastic trash bags and duct tape? 😁
  21. I hope he does not get worse. It doesn't get much worse than this besides injuries. He's 1.0 wins above replacement this far into the season which is really REALLY bad. If this stretches into September it might be time to start panicking.
  22. yeah i'm glad you got over it quickly. It was a nagging injury for me. I do A LOT of running and i'm also in my early 40's so things don't heal as quickly as they used to, but none the less I switched to a rocker shoe because of my flat feet at the urging of a running specialist and boy was that a bad move. I since switched back to a name brand shoe that was not a rocker and the problem went away but it took a while.
  23. If he is indeed suffering from Plantar fasciitis, it could be a long-term issue for him. It took me almost 2 years to get rid of it myself which is not unusual for that ailment, and it was quite painful especially in the mornings before your muscles have a chance to stretch out. That said he should be hitting better than he is. I don't know.
