  1. Which had nothing to do with the fact the Twins generally have had less money to offer. But the fact that Cruz, Shoot, and Perez all signed here means someone wants to. Just not maybe always who we want, one way or the other.
  2. the point was, we don't know what any of these guys want, but people keep making assumptions that they don't want to sign here, as one of the explanations, when we literally don't know. Because maybe they do. maybe not. we don't know.
  3. I don't even know what integrity of the game means.....they are all playing by the same rules. The only thing about the game that matters in terms of "integrity" is if it is a fair contest at the time it takes place.
  4. It's partly the ball, but are other teams on pace to shatter the record?
  5. Well, the data is clear. ERA has less correlation with future performance than FiP.... No one believes Odo will lead the league in ERA,I wouldn't think. This pitching staff has produced results that aren't likely to continue, given their underlying talent. I hope the FO acts on that knowledge.
  6. They traded three players in their top five, so maybe we have different definitions of top? That said, agreed, this year they are in a similar position to Houston a couple years ago. Of course, they keep calling up guys who do well, so something is still different in the systems.... But, they have the capital to make deals. We'll see soon.
  7. I'm pretty sure you missed the point of that post.
  8. I read the whole thing every time. Love these. I always look at the WPA. I usually watch any highlights. I never watch the manager talk. I like the win expectancy chart. When the bullpen is being used a lot, I look at the chart, but maybe only once a week.
  9. I only get to watch on gameday or gamecast or whatever.... The budget no longer allows paying to watch baseball.... But it would be great on two fronts if true. One, they need someone to be better. Two, it provides evidence that what they are doing is working!
  10. Love your categories. Not sure I'd rank them identically, but good approach!
  11. I keep hoping on him. He should be, imo, more successful than he is.
  12. I like how people are mocking the Cubs,a team the twins can only hope to be.
  13. I was an early proponent of moving Rogers to the pen. I'm not sure which AAA guy right now I'd do that with. And, that's not the point. How has the back of the bullpen faired, because that's who would not pitch if they had brought in help. People always point out the bad free agent performance relative to pay, but don't look at the just straight up bad performance of the next three guys that bounce up and down while teams try to find the next Rogers....
  14. That's not his point. Chief is all for trading prospects. He doesn't think multiple, or even one, Pressley types is out there and will be traded for medium prospects, or at all.
  15. How has relying on the AAA pitchers worked? What if those teams had to drop into their minors, would that be better? What is the better alternative?
  16. I was wondering how close those three would be in WPA. I wonder what Max would have to do to be ahead by even more? It's clear, to me, Berrios is a playoff pitcher. And Rogers. I still think Gibson is fine, now that he's recovered. I'd like one more good relief pitcher that everyone trusted.... Probably another starter
  17. Try the Sano threads, and maybe don't take it personally when I don't agree with parts of what is being done. Or do. Your choice.
  18. I did. Then later I saw the comment and didn't go back to verify. Maybe assume positive intent, and not whatever your are?
  19. I was just responding to the post above mine.... And should not have trustedd it I guess?
  20. Houston has made several trades involving multiple players in their top ten prospect list. So, maybe aim higher than only trading medium players? Or are they not at the forefront of winning?
  21. Also all college or older in A ball, I believe. Which, great for them they are doing well!
  22. If they won't trade a corner OF, they will never make a huge trade like Houston. Or other recent WS champions.
  23. Yes, that was great. It's not the individual decisions, it's the pattern. But, let's see if they break it at some point. Houston certainly has decided that trading great prospects for great pitching works..... Also, do we have to type... There is risk.... every time we want the twins to sign someone? Standing pat also has risk, just remember how everyone was sure healthy Mauer and Morneau were going to carry this team, so no need to trade prospects when the twins were healthy and winning, they'd surely be winning again the following years.... Bank the wins in good, lucky, years.
  24. No. Every expert says no, don't do that. You lose a year of development. Next year, maybe the guys you want get hurt. No. Take a player you believe in.
  25. Plenty of first round hitter busts too. Probably at a lower rate, but plenty of them.
