  1. Pick the one you think is going to be better. That seems 100% obvious. If you could only have 1, which would you have.
  2. They also just used their first round pick on a HS pitcher, sounds like taking a big risk to me.....
  3. No one said anything different than that last sentence.....
  4. The white Sox started a rebuild seven years ago, by trading off guys like Berrios...... The Twins were in a different position when this FO took over. Were the Sox shaking their heads two years ago? Do people just think other teams are badly run and won't improve sometimes?
  5. Ryan should be in Minnesota ASAP. While I think he is likely an ok starter.... He might be Joe Nathan..... I don't know what I'd do with him. Cavaco seems ranked purely on his draft spot. We'll see more next year.
  6. Agreed.... But you can't do that if you don't have any pre arb pitching..... Now they do, apparently, so they can concentrate on fewer, better, free agents.
  7. I gotta say, doesn't matter if he's good or not, ignoring your doctor in favor of who knows what, seems like a bad idea. On any medical topic.
  8. It simply isn't true that every team does this. See, MN Twins, circa when this FO took over. Indeed, there aren't even 100 starting pitchers in the entire world that are consistent number 4 types. That said, sure, real success ALSO requires even more....hopefully that is coming next year. We'll know a lot more next year. The big mistake, IMO, is not taking a great arm at the top of the draft (but then, TR proved you can be wrong there also.....not that he took top arms necessarily).
  9. Way too early to call success and say this system is working. It might be, I am hopeful, but way too early. Of the three, Jax is the most surprising for me. I really feel he could be a good RP, and I feel teams do a disservice to guys like him in general. They try to keep them starters, and they end up making way less money and way less ML appearances than they could have. I hope to be wrong on him, but I really like his odds as a RP much more. That said, sure, this year? Keep him as a starter unless you want Strotman and Ryan to get starts..... Ober has a real shot, imo, to be a 4/5 type. Every team needs that, and it is much better to have one on your team that will be with you awhile, than have to sign one every year like the Twins have the last few years. I would 100% keep him as a starter until he shows he can't be. Barnes? No strong opinion there. Me? I'd probably include him in a deal of multiple players for a much better player (say, John Means, or his type).
  10. The Fangraphs' prospect guys have said that looking at age this year is really off.....Covid messed up, in effect, two years, for many players (last and this). I expect we'll be back to some kind of normal in 3 years, assuming they play full seasons during that time.
  11. I do think it is fair to want them gone ..... and if they don't show MAJOR progress next year, I'll join the chorus. I also think it is fair to look at how far the system has come, acknowledge Covid messed up last year (and their development of nearly every pitcher they've acquired), and give them another year to show that they can grow talent and acquire long term talent (I'm not interested in more 1 year deals).
  12. Hey Mike .. All the companies you own have record profits! Let's have the prices plummet.....
  13. I think Kepler can be good enough or better. I don't have a lot of belief Rooker. But that's why they are playing them, to get more data. That's what this season is for now.
  14. They are 12th in batting average, btw..... They are getting KILLED by their "defense" and pitching.....
  15. Twins are 11th in runs scored, without Buxton.....I don't think people realize how far BAs have fallen this year. 11th isn't great, but it is fine, at least fine.
  16. If I had to guess, they are trying to get those two as many ABs as possible to see what they have in Rooker, and to get Max out of his funk (hopefully). Much more important than Ws. Also, batting order doesn't matter much....some, not much.
  17. Curt Carlson always said the best way to make money was to use other people's money.....My friends sold their UHG stock to pay off their kids' college costs. We kept ours, and borrowed. We have SO MUCH MORE MONEY now than we would have, it isn't funny. I'd much rather borrow money at 3% and invest my excess cash than not. To each, though, their own, as they say.
  18. Given this, probably time to just pull him off the list.....I get it, he's still eligible, but not for long...
  19. There is a zero percent chance Kepler is not on this roster next year to start the year. Most likely Sano also. Refsnyder has the inside track on the 4th OF spot at this point, imo. I have no idea what you think will happen with Donaldson, care to expand on that? He's signed to a massive deal, he's not getting DFAd...and is hard to trade.
  20. The impending heat must be getting to you .... Imo, Rooker is a great AAAA player. If he had defensive value, it would be different, but he just doesn't have a spot on this roster looking term. He might elsewhere. I am intrigued by these pitchers.....
  21. Who had 10 strikeouts on their bingo card? I admit to true amazement. Good for him!
  22. Concur. They need to sign one and trade for one and get lucky. More improbable things have happened....I don't think it is likely at all, but it isn't inconceivable either. They need a SS badly also.
  23. I think people forget they are nearly .500 the just two months....add Buxton. Get a real SS....boom, five more wins, give or take. It's all about health and finding two good pitchers as starters.
