  1. Based on what? He's just not good, and hatd negative defensive value. If they keep him, where does he play?
  2. There is no evidence the Twins are banking on him for next year. So I'm not sure I understand?
  3. Last couple days an ad has stretched the site wider than my phone's screen.... No idea which one. And it is intermittent.
  4. Well. Dang. They 100 percent need two picthets from outside the org.....
  5. I'd rather take the chance Lewis works out, and have a great SS signed, than Lewis isn't really good in 2023..... Do people expect him to be good in his first full year in the majors? They aren't signing two expensive starting pitchers, imo. They probably don't need a third baseman, second baseman, first baseman, catcher, or outfielder...... And Donaldson comes off the books in two years. I guess Buxton and an elite pitcher is possible.... But I'd rather sign a SS and Buxton and one great SP.... Which they can afford. I understand others don't agree, and I'm ok with that.
  6. Good God. So I'm wrong, so all my thoughts are wrong? Then the front office is always wrong? Tedious. And a logical fallacy. People keep saying the Twins can trade for an ace..... Have they? Has any mid market team? How many have been traded at all, that had more than a year of control?
  7. That is a terrible infield defense. Yuck. Run prevention matters.
  8. Agreed. Sign one of these guys. At most, they'll sign one expensive FA pitcher this year. No way I put polanco back at SS. The D is already awful....
  9. I'm not the front office.... They need to be right. Not me. My argument is simple, the best players are at the top of the draft more often than not.... And they'll never sign an ace to a long term deal. Lewis could be bad, just as the pitchers could. I don't really get that part of the argument. I wanted Greene, and eventually chickened out and said Gore, yes. Gore looks like a bad choice right now..... So yes, I was likely wrong. I'd that somehow invalidates my opinion they should take elite pitching when the hitter and pitcher are ranked close, then I guess I'm just wrong.
  10. Of all the players to question on that play? Larnach turned a double into that. Polanco double clutched and made a terrible throw.. and Ryan threw a cookie up there....
  11. Not true. They could have paid Lewis top dollar and still signed enlow. They just saved money. They may have suffered a minor penalty, but it was in the range of acceptable. Also, I'd trade both of them for Greene right now, easy. I'd even throw in Rooker.
  12. I'm baffled at the Lewis ranking. He's never shown the ability to hit, and it's not clear he's a SS. One of his best attributes is speed, and he just had knee surgery. I don't think he's even in the top five for me, until he shows he can hit. I really want to be wrong....btw, everyone here ripped the Greene choice once he was hurt.... Who is destroying AAA right now? Take the upside pitching, because you'll never sign it.
  13. To be clear, Larnach turned a double into an inside the park HR, and he'd have been out if Polanco doesn't double clutch. Then, just bad D....so Ryan was not good, but not as bad as the boxscore would show.
  14. Where does Larnach play if Arraez is DH? Sano? Kiriloff? Garver? Donaldson? IMO, Martin is the LF by mid next year.....Kiriloff is 1B, and Sano or Larnach or Donadlson is DH.....or even Miranda. Arraez's only position is to back up all those guys plus back up Polanco?
  15. Pick the one you think is going to be better. That seems 100% obvious. If you could only have 1, which would you have.
  16. They also just used their first round pick on a HS pitcher, sounds like taking a big risk to me.....
  17. No one said anything different than that last sentence.....
  18. The white Sox started a rebuild seven years ago, by trading off guys like Berrios...... The Twins were in a different position when this FO took over. Were the Sox shaking their heads two years ago? Do people just think other teams are badly run and won't improve sometimes?
  19. Ryan should be in Minnesota ASAP. While I think he is likely an ok starter.... He might be Joe Nathan..... I don't know what I'd do with him. Cavaco seems ranked purely on his draft spot. We'll see more next year.
  20. Agreed.... But you can't do that if you don't have any pre arb pitching..... Now they do, apparently, so they can concentrate on fewer, better, free agents.
  21. I gotta say, doesn't matter if he's good or not, ignoring your doctor in favor of who knows what, seems like a bad idea. On any medical topic.
  22. It simply isn't true that every team does this. See, MN Twins, circa when this FO took over. Indeed, there aren't even 100 starting pitchers in the entire world that are consistent number 4 types. That said, sure, real success ALSO requires even more....hopefully that is coming next year. We'll know a lot more next year. The big mistake, IMO, is not taking a great arm at the top of the draft (but then, TR proved you can be wrong there also.....not that he took top arms necessarily).
  23. Way too early to call success and say this system is working. It might be, I am hopeful, but way too early. Of the three, Jax is the most surprising for me. I really feel he could be a good RP, and I feel teams do a disservice to guys like him in general. They try to keep them starters, and they end up making way less money and way less ML appearances than they could have. I hope to be wrong on him, but I really like his odds as a RP much more. That said, sure, this year? Keep him as a starter unless you want Strotman and Ryan to get starts..... Ober has a real shot, imo, to be a 4/5 type. Every team needs that, and it is much better to have one on your team that will be with you awhile, than have to sign one every year like the Twins have the last few years. I would 100% keep him as a starter until he shows he can't be. Barnes? No strong opinion there. Me? I'd probably include him in a deal of multiple players for a much better player (say, John Means, or his type).
