  1. The only question that matters to me is if he's signed to a long term deal or not. I would endorse that.
  2. If they want Ryan up at the start of next year, he'll pitch in MN this year to get acclimated. If they don't do that, I would bet money he's not on the opening day roster next year. He's 25....no need to baby him. Now, he might need work on certain pitches, that's different. But, there is no reason to protect him at this point. Me? I'd call him up to get him acclimated to the majors. But I don't know what they'll do. I am not worried about losing a fringe player at this point, so I'm not worried about the 40 man.
  3. Those other guys could field, even steal a base. This can't be a real comparison.
  4. One request.... Let us know what position Martin plays in the future.... Thanks. I do love these.
  5. He should be moved to the bullpen soon. It's his best chance to make money, and he's not young. I do love these profiles!
  6. Of all the moves I'd make right now....I'd promote him to AAA for a day, then MN. See what he's got. It isn't like they can hide him...and they'll need to do something with him at some point. (well, that and a certain RP getting time in MN.....). I'd even DFA Simmons to do it at this point.
  7. Can you name anyone that has said errors don't matter? What people say is that they are not sufficient to gauge defense. Those are two very different things.
  8. 260 .... That is way over the MLB average this year. Also higher than his average in general.... So he's better with men on base then not.
  9. Rooker is much worse. I would prefer Larnach DH or be traded, but that's a very different discussion than someone saying he's awful and shown no future.
  10. Like how someone feels about Larnach.....
  11. He's been bad at hitting two of the last three years. This year? Worse than bad. He's below average in fwar three straight years now. I really hope he's not brought back. Gordon should be there the rest of this year.
  12. Which, imo, is the fallacy of "you can wait until next year to sign a guy" talk here.....if you have a hole, and there is a great player you can afford, sign him. Even if you "won't be good" until a year later.....that hole is filled. Trying to time your contention with when the exact player you need is there in FA is like trying to time the stock market.
  13. Given their youth, experience, I'm not worried about catcher with Jeffers and Rortvedt. SS? Big issue. It's a much deeper system now, which is great.
  14. Meh. Gordon is on the bench, and Simmons is in the lineup.....
  15. So it still counts they won the division? Also, it is a counting stat, so giving a raw number is quite misleading. He was much closer, as a percent, to the maximum fWAR than .5 seems it would be.
  16. No biggie there either. All 6 are replaceable, IMO.
  17. Great week! I think we are learning three things at the end of the year: Polanco is a very good 2B (with O, D, baserunning....maybe not a good D, but very good at the others) and should be a 2B. Arraez is not a fielder, and should be a DH or traded. Ober is a lock for a SP spot next year (assuming health). I'm not sure we are learning much else with any certainty at this point.
  18. I count maybe 6 guys on that list I'd protect for sure. That leaves plenty of room. Rob Refsnyder, OF Charlie Barnes, LHP Danny Coulombe, LHP Edgar Garcia, RHP Ralph Garza Jr., RHP Juan Minaya, RHP
  19. I'm not even a little worried about his offense at this point. But I understand why others might be. My point was that I'd rather have him at DH than OF......putting up another blocker for Rooker.
  20. Heck, I'd prefer Larnach at DH over Rooker, with an OF of Martin, Buxton, Kepler.....Reifsnyder as the 4th OF for now.....and Larnach and Kiriloff available if needed in the OF.
  21. I admit part of my opinion is emotional....I hate early picks on bat first, no fielder, players, and really disliked this pick. A lot. I really did think he'd hit better..... Maybe he will. Sano, in a terrible year.... Is still hitting very slightly above the average MLB player. Not great.... Clearly.... But still. That still leaves Arraez, who no championship team would want as a fielder. And Garver.
  22. Sano. Donaldson. Garver. Arraez. All are better hitters. All could/should DH. Maybe Miranda.
