  1. You don't have to pay to get into that bar either......and the selection is likely a lot better and cheaper. And the parking is less. And it is closer to your house.
  2. Ya, 41 and partly sunny now. I'm out for a bit....
  3. Start the game earlier during the week....lower prices......other than that, what? Why would a casual fan go to a MLB game? Especially for a team they can't even watch on tv and learn about? They are going to have to offer all kinds of special deals, making pre-sales even harder! Because whose going to buy tickets early in the year if they think the team will offer discounts later? I don't envy the sales department right now.
  4. Twins won't even promote guys as aggressively as the Braves when they lose 4-6 OFers.... Not one player on this roster deserves the kind of deals the Braves hand out. Arraez has bad knees. Ryan is a pitcher. That's it among the young players, isn't it? I mean, Jeffers, Gordon, all the pitchers, Larnach, Kiriloff? None of them should get an extension at this point. Lewis hasn't been able to walk / run for two years now.
  5. Pretty sure you missed his point by the distance from the earth to the sun.
  6. What's the actual difference between 10 285 and 13 350? I mean, given the time value of money, not much really. It's actually less per year. If he's awful after 10 years, just cut him.
  7. With the previous regime's players.....they weren't a .500 team the last two years. At some point, results matter. Are they getting better, or worse, the longer they are in control? They did what Ryan wouldn't the two winning years, they added to a good team. Injuries were awful last year, but they dealt for two SPs with injury histories (I liked the Mahle risk).
  8. If the Twins won't sign elite players, they should be willing to take bad contracts for better prospects.
  9. And it isn't like players they trade for don't get hurt.... There's risk too.
  10. Nothing? Casual fans show up for home runs and winning.
  11. I agree..... But weren't we taking about the market for elite players?
  12. You think they can afford 28.5 million for ten years, but not for thirteen? Swanson isn't near the player CC is, but he'll get seven to ten years at over 25 million per ..... They can afford that?
  13. For one year. That's not even close to what we are talking about. The real market is what we see. That's what's real.
  14. Bull. They had plenty of money, they chose not to spend it. What about the beginning of the deal, they would not have that either had they not signed him.
  15. Another option? Blow up the roster. They've already dealt from the farm like crazy..... And their drafts are suspect. I think, not that I want this, the best option from a baseball perspective, is to blow it up.
  16. You don't think Swanson is getting ten years? He's not close to the player the other three are. Why would you sign two cheap starters? They have plenty of back end starters.
  17. Like who? Who can they sign that is a difference maker? Last year was a record year for free agent starting pitchers, the Twins passed. Instead they dealt prospects, and still had nothing to show from two of the deals This year was a record year for short stops, they passed They've signed one long term deal with an elite player, and they traded him after two years. Nothing has changed. They won't pay market rates for great players.
  18. I don't think only looking at FA deals is a good measure of risk taking....but I get your point.
