  1. People seem to be able to afford tickets to the NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA hockey, MLS, Gopher football and the WNBA. Concerts downtown are well attended. Twins tickets are often cheaper than those other entertainment options. Going to a Twins game can be cheaper than seeing a movie at the theater.
  2. He's waiting for the inevitable injury, then he'll slot into Bader's current role.
  3. The Saints are much better than the Twins at this.
  4. I think it's a massive overreaction and the Twin Cities are as safe as St Cloud. I will agree that there are people who say things like that. However, it doesn't explain why the Vikings, Wild and Wolves are still able to draw fans while the Twins are struggling.
  5. Martin is in AAA because of Bader. Are they down on him or is he playing everyday in AAA because they need depth? Keirsey has the 5th outfielder job because the job is to pinch run and play defense. It wouldn't help Martin at all to rot on the MLB bench.
  6. Paddack is in the rotation until Lopez returns. Zebby is auditioning for that spot.
  7. Larnach is selling out for breaking balls, which has allowed pitchers to get first-pitch fastballs down the middle past him. He needs to recognize those and punish the first pitch fastball when he gets it.
  8. Vazquez has reached base 3 times this year and been picked off twice. He's made an out in 95% of his plate appearances.
  9. I think the Twin Cities market is pretty saturated for sports. There are options for MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS, WNBA, Big Ten NCAA, tons of D1 hockey, professional women's hockey and soccer as well as AAA baseball. MLB is the #3 sport in the US, and it might be the #4 sport in this market due to the popularity of hockey. If you're a casual baseball fan, you'll have more fun at a Saints game than a Twins game. That's a lot of competition for the same dollar and the Twins have been losing the competition.
  10. We're still dealing with way too small of sample sizes to say anyone "failed". Do you want to keep churning the roster every 10 games sending players up and down? Ryan Fitzgerald has the highest OPS in AAA - should the Twins bring him up? Julien has been able to get the barrel on the ball. His expected stats on baseball savant are tops on the team. Gasper is at the bottom, below Vazquez.
  11. I think they need to give him regular playing time now to help them make decisions on what to prioritize when they sell at the deadline. This is a rebuilding team, whether they know it or not.
  12. It is worth debating whether the best defensive alignment is Castro 2B, Lee 3B or Castro 3B, Lee 2B.
  13. Lee gets Gasper's roster spot and playing time from Miranda and Julien who both go to the bench. I'm fine with Miranda and/or Julien each being relegated to backup infielder who might get 150 PA for the rest of the year.
  14. I would be shocked if they owed that debt to someone other than themselves.
  15. Jax and Duran will have plenty of interested buyers. I am expecting Willi Castro, Harrison Bader and several relievers (Stewart, Topa, Coulombe, Tonkin) to be traded at the deadline. A rebuild has to happen.
  16. The weak spot tonight was pitchers throwing to 1B.
  17. His best projection is .250/.310/.375 and his worst is .225/.275/.335. I'd say there's an 70% chance his production is in that range.
  18. He did not. An 850 OPS in AAA is not impressive, especially for a 27-year-old. Good hitters put up an OPS > 1000 in AAA. Alex Kirilloff had an OPS > 1100 in AAA.
  19. Easier than 3-4 innings per game and 5-15 games per season? Should they have made him the 1-inning opener for one game per week? There is NO logic involved in your reasoning. It's almost impossible for a pitcher to be used more lightly than the Twins used Canterino.
  20. If they add 30 innings to Raya's workload every year it will only take 2 more years before he's ready to pitch a full season in the major leagues. Of course, that all gets blown up if there is an injury setback in which case he'll never be ready to pitch a full season as a starter in the major leagues. I agree 100% with this. If you want to develop a pitcher you have to give him innings. An A-ball pitcher who has been turned into a reliever means the org believes there is no upside. Even if Prielipp's future is in the bullpen, they should have him making 3-inning starts in the minors. Your starting pitchers are guys who can get outs without using max effort on every pitch. The human arm can't withstand max effort for 110 pitches a game. You can't sprint for a mile.
  21. Gasper will go down for Lee in a few days. I expect Lee will become the starter at 3B with Miranda going to the bench. I think they will make the Mathews for Paddack move but it will probably take a couple more turns in the rotation. Keaschall isn't coming up anytime soon. He's still rehabbing his arm and splitting time between 2B and DH. I don't think it would help his development to just DH and they aren't going to demote Castro from 2B. At some point I think they need to address what to do with Vazquez.
  22. Thanks for pointing that out. I was flipping between the Twins and the basketball game.
