  1. It also acknowledges that no human can watch every pitch of every game. That's 40+ hours of major league baseball a day to digest. Add in up to 200 hours a day of minor league games, 1000 hours a day of NCAA baseball, etc.
  2. 679 OPS with RISP, 2 outs. It's more damning of the other hitters that this is who you would choose. I think it's more short memory than anything else. Kody Clemens has done more clutch damage this season. Jeffers, Bader, Buxton and Larnach have had their clutch moments, too.
  3. Willi Castro. They're going to get 5 WAR from him over 3 seasons for $11M. France isn't even the best "value" signing of the most recent offseason. Bader and Coulombe have both been better signings.
  4. That's an interesting take on a player who had his peak 2020-2022. He's clearly worse at hitting now than he was then. He's also clearly NOT an All-Star. Buxton is having an All-Star season. So is Joe Ryan. Bader, Lopez and Duran have had good seasons. Kody Clemens has been playing out of his mind. Ty France would be about 15th-20th on my ranking of Twins who should play in the All-Star game.
  5. I think the Orioles may have thrown in the towel on 2025. The Cubs will be looking for pitching.
  6. He's a 0.0 WAR first baseman. Julien and Miranda have been awful, but that doesn't mean Ty France has been especially good. It's been a really bad season for first basemen in MLB, which makes him look better in comparison, but he's been worth what they paid for him. He's hitting about exactly the same as Willi Castro. The trendline is heading down; 567 OPS in May. If France has some magical clutchness ability, can he turn it on when things aren't so clutch so he can help the team more? Far more likely the author is reading into the randomness of small sample sizes.
  7. Why do people think Greg Maddux didn't strike people out? He had seven seasons in the top 10 in strikeouts and is 12th all-time in career strikeouts.
  8. It was pretty obvious he won't be able to keep up these results. He had the best back-to-back starts of his career. He didn't suddenly get better, he got healthy and lucky at the same time. I still think he's a trade candidate.
  9. There's an alarming split I noticed for this season Bases Empty: .303/.410/.333 740 OPS Runners On: .412/.508/.569 1076 OPS That suggests he can't pitch out of the stretch effectively. Last season he was more effective with runners on than with the bases empty.
  10. We both agree on this. I don't think he's that guy unless he's playing at 100%. This version is like Byron Buxton in 2023.
  11. We actually have no idea if stamina is a roadblock. They've never tried to see if he can consistently pitch 5-6 innings as a starter. This makes me believe they've never been developing him as a starting pitcher, but using a starter's routine to get him innings. Good to see him find the strike zone last night.
  12. https://www.mlb.com/news/matt-wallner-nearing-end-of-rehab-assignment-return-to-twins Looks like the Twins trainers had him at Target Field for injury rehab work.
  13. I agree with this. If Royce can't play at full speed then I'd rather see Jonah Bride get the playing time. This version of Royce Lewis is lousy.
  14. Will moving to the bullpen help him with location? If he can't throw strikes he won't make it anywhere.
  15. He's probably carrying more muscle than he would if he played SS. Less time in the weight room and more time doing flexibility and speed training.
  16. Random thoughts from the game Vinnie Pasquantino is very much a first baseman. He looks like a first baseman - if you lined up all the Kansas City Royals and asked me to pick out the first baseman I'd pick Vinnie. He has a first baseman name. He makes plays like he belongs at first base, not like he's learning it on the fly. Cavan Biggio and Kody Clemens hung out together when their dads were on the Astros, right? I know they played against each other in high school and played on some of the same showcase teams in the summer. I can't seem to find a picture of them together on the internet. I wonder if both dads will show up in Minnesota this Memorial Day weekend.
  17. You don't think a roof would improve the aesthetics? Joking. It's a good role for him right now. The team needs that.
  18. The inning was over. He's not going to sit down and go back in the ballgame. It's hard enough to keep Stewart healthy as it is.
  19. If he can't control the running game, he'll never be a major league catcher. It doesn't matter how well he frames or blocks wild pitches. You can't turn every single or walk into a double.
  20. Margot looks like a significantly better player than Dashawn Keirsey, even in his decline. Better stats both last year and this year.
