  1. Matthews looks ready. He's consistently one of the best pitchers at his level. I'd like to see him get 6 innings in a start but the Twins don't seem to care. Keaschall hasn't been of the best hitters in the league or even on his team. He's still rehabbing the elbow after surgery. There are lots of reasons not to promote him and if anyone else was healthy he would still be in AAA. Emmanuel Rodriguez also doesn't look ready yet. If you want a promotion, show that your current level is too easy.
  2. So, you're saying they're NOT doing the same thing over and over.
  3. What should we honestly expect? We should expect Keaschall to fail in his first major league playing time. That's not an indictment of his talent - most prospects fail and go back to the minors to work on their game. Pitching in MLB is incredibly difficult to hit. Keaschall has all of 325 plate appearances above A-ball. If we translate those AA and AAA plate appearances to an MLB talent level, we should expect an OPS a little below 600. The only players I feel confident he'll out-hit in his first time in MLB are Gasper and Keirsey.
  4. I think they are grooming Raya to be a reliever. It's probably a good idea to have him start in AAA because more innings now will help his development in the longer run.
  5. Repeatedly bringing up the next shiny new prospect to please the fans is not a recipe for sustained success. Fans always get disappointed with their new toy after a couple weeks and want the player they were clamoring to see sent back to Fort Myers.
  6. I was responding to that comment. It's always unhelpful to put Hall of Fame expectations on prospects.
  7. I am surprised. Adding another injured player to the roster doesn't seem like it would be helpful.
  8. They have a role they can play where they're a better option in a matchup. Keirsey can pinch run and play defense better than a starter which gives him a role.
  9. Roy Oswalt is a borderline Hall-of-Fame caliber player. I'd be thrilled if Morris could duplicate Kyle Gibson's career.
  10. Twins.TV works fine. The first couple games there were issues getting the broadcast to start but those have been solved. There are fewer ads than most sports broadcasts, which has been great. I have decent internet service but nothing special. If you're in a rural area with sketchy internet you may have worse performance.
  11. Let's emulate Cleveland, Milwaukee and Tampa and their combined zero World Series championships since 1948. I know they punch above their weight class, but they haven't been able to get to the promised land. Why not copy St. Louis? They have the same market size and a LOT more success.
  12. I am going to guess that Martin returns after Wallner. Martin's injury looked much worse.
  13. That is not worth carrying on the 26 man roster.
  14. They have to pay him an MLB salary to sit on the 60 day IL and he gains service time to put him one year closer to free agency. The service time isn't really an issue but the paycheck is. I don't know why they haven't released him. He's never been able to put together a healthy season of pitching. By sending him to the minors they burned his last option so next spring he'll have no MLB experience, a track record of terrible health and no minor league options. It's a total waste of a 40-man roster spot.
  15. They have Royce Lewis, too. All 3 guys are better than anyone they would have acquired as a free agent stash.
  16. There isn't such a thing. He has to go on the MLB 60 day or get released. I have serious doubts any other team in MLB wants to carry him on their 40-man roster but they might out-bid the Twins to give him a minor league contract.
  17. They would need to move players to the 60 Day IL or remove them from the 40-man roster to open up roster spots. Matt Canterino could easily be released, for example. Diego Cartaya would probably pass through waivers after his cold start to the season. Tonkin could head to the 60 day IL.
  18. Falvey and Levine were a team, too. If Falvey is given a choice of firing Rocco, or losing his job, he'll fire Rocco.
  19. If they're looking for a feisty, energetic contrast to Rocco, they could see if Joe Mauer is available to finish out the season for them.
  20. McCusker is probably as good as any waiver wire option. They might as well give him a chance.
  21. This team is using a roster spot for Mickey Gasper. A 106 OPS+ would be one of the best on a team desperate for offense.
