  1. Scapegoat implies that he is performing well and they are looking for someone to blame for their mistakes. Baldelli has not done a good job of preparing his team. They don't even know what to do for their cutoff plays. If he's fired, it will be as deserved as most professional manager firings.
  2. Call the agent for JD Martinez. Assure him you'll trade him at the deadline if the team is not a contender. There are other veteran players in the minors with upward mobility clauses in their contracts. They can go outside the organization for AAA talent.
  3. Eventually they will either trade those pitchers or they will issue qualifying offers after 2027 and let them walk as free agents. I wouldn't trade all three, but if they really want to add a good bat, they will need to part with one of them.
  4. Clearly, the manager needs to go. They've tried to change the coaches but that hasn't done the job. If the guy they want is still under contract elsewhere, they can wait until the end of the season. Next, they need to trade anyone who is a free agent or might get non-tendered. That's Bader, France, Castro, Paddack, Vazquez, Tonkin, Stewart, Topa, and Coulombe. They can lose with or without those guys this year. Some moves might be addition by subtraction. Bring up Austin Martin, Jair Camargo, Luke Keaschall and Emmanuel Rodriguez. Next, sell high on players who are older but might get a premium in trade. That's Jax, Ober. Lopez and Ryan. However, I wouldn't sell more than one of the top 3 starting pitchers. They need to open up spots for Festa and Matthews. Paddack will be gone but that only opens one spot. I think that's enough for now. That's subtracting 7 arms and 4 position players. Use the rest of the season to evaluate who you got in trade and whoever is still remaining on the roster.
  5. Yep, showcase the veterans for trade. Boston needs a catcher right now and they have a positive history with Vazquez. I'd be calling them daily to let them know he's available.
  6. I believe the Twins like to use Correa as the cutoff on as many plays as possible to take advantage of his elite arm. The only plays he doesn't cut off are down the lines.
  7. So, he's still on injury rehab and we shouldn't expect to see him in the big leagues until that's done. My guess is that will take several weeks.
  8. I really hope they aren't putting Keaschall at DH because they think he's worse in the OF than Yunior Severino.
  9. It's an exaggeration, but it's a reality check to the people who think Keaschall needs to be promoted yesterday. He's currently a part-time 2B and part-time DH - just like Julien. He's essentially still on injury rehab, though he's doing it at the AAA level. When are the positional handcuffs coming off? When are they going to get him some reps in the outfield where he has to throw at max effort?
  10. I think Gasper and Keirsey have those roles because they don't want Rodriguez and Keaschall to sit on the bench and rarely play. They don't care if Gasper or Keirsey rots on the bench for a week without any action. If we see an injury to a starter we will see someone promoted from AAA to take the starter's at-bats; Keirsey and Gasper won't get any additional playing time.
  11. I like Miranda and Julien as bench players. I think Miranda can come back and fill a role like Donovan Solano if he plays up to his talent. As starters, you'll always be looking for someone else to take the job on defense.
  12. I think Larnach has over-adjusted to breaking stuff and is letting fastballs go by in the zone. He needs to take a hack at some of the get-me-over fastballs he's seeing, especially early in the count.
  13. Another reason why spring training stats should be ignored. Cerda is on his 4th season of not hitting at Double-A. He can be released at any time without any worry.
  14. No, 2B is closer to LF than CF in terms of physical tools. It means you can field grounders, but you can't throw. There is a scarcity factor in WAR because you can't have a lefthanded throwing 2B but you can have that in CF. Regardless, they keep pulling Keaschall off the field before the game is over. If he's promoted to the Twins, who is going to play the last 3 innings of the game for him?
  15. You probably need to recalibrate your head to a league batting .230. Buxton, surprisingly, has been just slightly below league average offensively at the plate and his baserunning makes him an average contributor on offense.
  16. Emmanuel Rodriguez has two big factors in his favor 1) He can play defense at a premium position (CF). Keaschall is only playing 2B and DH at the moment. 2) He can play a full game in the field. Keaschall is still being "ramped up" because the physical demands of playing a full 9-inning game are too much for his body. Keaschall, defensively, is a mix of Julien's glove and Buxton's durability. I really hope that changes as he gets further into the season, but it makes him quite unlikely to help the MLB team right now.
  17. No, what you try to do is come up with a contrarian take and then make up a story out of thin air to try to get people to believe it.
  18. You don't have to. You're just wrong. Hitting home runs helps teams win. Not hitting home runs helps them lose.
  19. How many teams didn't make the playoffs at all because they didn't have any home run hitters? You can't win playing deadball baseball in 2025. The top 4 teams in HR at the moment are the Angels, Dodgers, Cubs and Yankees. They're 38-25. The bottom 4 teams in HR are the Blue Jays, Royals, Rockies and Pirates. They're 25-37. Hitting home runs helps a team win. It's indisputable. https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2016/9/9/12842846/home-runs-wins-correlation-2016#:~:text=Initially%2C there appears to be,%2C R%2C is quite sizable! Strike batters out, play good defense, hit bombs.
  20. He's leading the team with a .370 OBP. Isn't that what you want from your leadoff hitter? I think the Wallner as leadoff hitter experiment has been the most successful thing they've tried.
  21. I can't disagree with this move. Miranda has been terrible in all aspects.
  22. Even with Jax and Duran they can only cover half the innings they want the bullpen to cover to win a game.
