    They should be more than willing to eat $15M of the remaining $115M. That's essentially what they'll do just by paying him the rest of the season to play for a non-contender. Correa is playing like a $10M player while drawing a $32M salary 2026-28. Ironically, that makes him more valuable in trade as time passes. Today he has a value of -$60M, next season at the deadline it will only be -$40M. By the end of 2028 they should be able to trade him for a prospect.

    What happens the rest of this season is irrelevant. They're not a contender. The rest of this season should be about developing players for the 2026 team. Which is weird. If he sincerely believes the players are underperfoming to the point where a 90 win team is playing at a 78 win pace, then he should fire Rocco.

    Two years of additional team control aren't worth much for Stewart. He's 33 and has an extensive injury history. I'm not confident he makes it through the rest of this season without another trip to the IL. Like everyone else on the team, he has zero value for the Twins for the remainder of 2025. Stewart is also the worst on the team at controlling the running game, which makes his pitching stats less valuable than they appear on paper. I think they're better off finding a trade partner. It will be quite disappointing if Stewart is still a Twin on August 1st.

    This is how a team plays when nobody cares about winning. Keeping the expiring contract veterans would be toxic. At least rookies have something to play for besides their next contract. Playing for a contract means you're only going to do the things that show up in the stat sheet.

    I hope that means the Twins have a better bid in hand than what the Yankees were willing to offer.

    Who is the top of the market right now? Is Suarez the guy who has to move before Castro gets dealt? I think Bader will move after Mullins and possibly Laureano. Coulombe might be the #1 LHRP. Paddack should find a buyer but I'm not sure the Twins will find one for France or Vazquez.

    I think every playoff team can fit Willi Castro onto their roster and onto their payroll. His versatility and relatively low salary make him a valuable addition.

    What you're really getting at is whether the new owner should be able to decide that they want to try to win in 2026 and 2027. I think that is why the Twins are asking such a high price for Duran and Jax. They want a trade that any GM would make under any circumstances.

    I sat behind two Twins fans at the Rockies game. One lady had a Clemens jersey and the other had a Keirsey jersey. I assumed they were related to the players.

    Who’s buying on these players? Not a contender, and that’s who is shopping. I saw Julien mentioned as a bargain pickup for the Astros but otherwise a contender is going to want good players instead.

    I expect Martin to get another shot when Castro and Bader are dealt. Miranda is having an awful season. I don’t know why anyone would want him. He might need to go to Japan or Korea for his next job. Julien could return a reliever like Adams, which could be useful. Better to deal him before they lose him on waivers next season.

    I think 2B is a clear place to add speed and defense. 1B is a clear place to add consistent offense. LF would be nice to add both with Jenkins but he’s a year off.

    Ultimately, I want the Twins to use Jax and Duran as bait to trade Coulombe and Stewart. Brock Stewart is basically a scratch and dent version of Jax and Duran. You can’t afford the payment for Jax? Let me show you this beauty I’ve got out back, runs like a dream and you can drive off with it today.

    These deals seem fair for Jax. For Duran I want another player. A-ball with upside. Closers demand a premium.

    What exactly do you think the three athletic trainers and two strength and conditioning coaches do all day? Are they just sitting in the clubhouse playing cards?
