    MLB is incredibly profitable. The Rockies are one of the more profitable teams.

    The Twins do have a couple spots open and I fully expect them to grab a couple free agents who will be happy to have a spot on an MLB roster instead of getting an NRI. That's not really a plan to compete.

    I will contradict my previous comments just to state that there is one benefit to signing a good relief pitcher - they're really tradeable at the deadline. If they give the money to Seranthony Dominguez they will have no trouble selling his contract in July.

    I don't blame them at all for not paying retail prices for relief pitchers. It is the worst value for the money of anything you can buy on the free agent market. There are bigger holes on the roster that would be a better value to fill by free agency.

    I think the Ranger Suarez contract (5 years, $130M) sets the floor for a Joe Ryan extension. The Twins will also need to buy out Ryan's arbitration in 2027. That would mean 6 years, $145M. Are people prepared to guarantee him that much money for his 30s? That would be the 2nd biggest contract in franchise history.

    They promised no half measures. This isn't a half-measure.

    I'm not saying this will turn into another Willi Castro move, but this is about exactly as well as Willi Castro performed before he came to the Twins. Castro was a couple years younger then than Brujan is now, but Brujan is young enough to have a career year performance. Good job getting younger, more athletic and better on defense. If someone better becomes available, they can send him on waivers again.

    If they give Joe his money, then they're out of money and the rest of the roster has to be rookies and waiver wire crap.

    There are a lot of people projecting their feelings onto Joe Ryan.

    Jordan Lawlar is extra blocked now.

    MLB absolutely should expand. The talent level of the worst players might be the highest in MLB history. Each expansion team brings in another $300M worth of topline revenue each season.

    This is not a particularly young team at the moment. It has the potential to go young, but Josh Bell will be gone if they turn the roster over.

    Wagaman was DFA'd when the Twins acquired him. The only thing useful about Wagaman is his 3 options. If he's the 18th position player on the roster, he's useful. Unfortunately, the Twins have 8 guys like that.

    Buxton has a chance to actually win something and show off his talent on a national stage in the WBC. With the Twins he'll be playing for 4th place with a couple thousand fans in the stands.

    That would include every move they've made this offseason.

    It means New York can have two divisional pennant winners instead of just one. If the two teams are rivals in the same division it forces the fan base to choose. There will be a winner and a loser. If the teams aren't in the same league, then people can be at least a casual fan of both.

    Who are the top LHP in the WBC? I'm guessing there aren't many. I haven't seen Framber Valdez, Jesus Luzardo or Ranger Suarez announced for the Dominican Republic, Peru or Venezuela.

    I still wouldn't count on players who were bad in AAA or weren't even at AAA for bullpen help. Bad at AAA is usually a good indicator that the pitcher will be bad in MLB.
