    2nd least WAR among position players. He hasn't been horrible but he's not helping them win. Miranda needs to produce or Royce Lewis will take that starting position at 3B. Julien will go down first because he's not a good fielder and they don't need a DH right now.

    I hope so. It would be kind of dumb to start Headrick rather than one of the other pitchers in the rotation.

    That actually never happened which makes it very confusing to see in a game recap. They're still the Indianapolis I N D I A N S. They are considering renaming the team but I am pretty sure they won't ever call themselves the Guardians. edit: I tried typing I N D I A N S and the website did a find and replace with Guardians automatically. That's probably the same issue with the article. Bad code.

    Not surprised at all to see Randy Dobnak struggling this year. Woods-Richardson has decent K/BB numbers, he's just been very hittable.

    Surprised nobody mentioned Jose Miranda as a possible demotion. He has not been playing well enough to keep his position when Farmer is healthy.

    Ugh, bad uniforms. Could be called the Wichita Eyesores

    The top end talent is about the same. Mike Trout is about as good as Mickey Mantle or Ty Cobb. The worst players have gotten a lot better. The big jump in talent happened in the 1960s through integration. Expansion kept things in check for a while but the leagues haven't expanded for 25 years. This I could see as possible, but I think teams want a "throw" day in the middle for practice. In the playoffs they shorten rotations and get rid of the "throw" day in between starts.

    I was waiting for someone to go negative. Joe Ryan shut down the Yankees offense. Even if you ignore the big inning this team still wins the game.

    They threw 3-5 MPH slower and faced shortstops and catchers who hit .200 with no power. The level of skill in baseball has never been higher. The "worst players" are clearly better.

    I actually prefer the fastpitch softball rules for HBP - if you are in the batter's box and get hit it is a free base. You don't have to try to avoid getting hit. If you don't want to put the runner on, don't hit them.

    They're winning with half of their offensive starters on the injured list, Correa and Miranda struggling and Buxton limited to full-time DH. Vazquez has nearly earned his salary for the year and we're halfway through April. That was one of the best free agent signings by any team this offseason. The Farmer trade has also paid off very well so far.

    The bullpen has been very good too. Pete Maki should get a lot of credit for having his staff ready to contribute on game 1.

    Unfortunately it seems to be at the cost of playing less than 50% of the game (no defense) when he does play.

    He's rehabbing the injury on the off day. That's the best explanation for the rigid schedule.
