  1. Almost impossible for a 5 round draft to be deep.
  2. Draft picks go bust all the time. The Twins got Wallner, Steer, Canterino, Headrick, Julien and Varland out of the 2019 draft which more than makes up for Cavaco. 2020 was a small draft but Raya makes up for missing on Sabato. I think they deserve some slack drafting based on a month's worth of data in 2020.
  3. If you look at his college numbers you wouldn't predict 140 strikeouts a season but that's what he's done in the minors.
  4. Donovan has hits like Luis Arraez
  5. Was hoping for more Sunshine Superman in the article. Husker Du Sunshine Superman - YouTube
  6. I've seen people say we don't want to put Canterino or Balazovic on the 60 day IL because we shouldn't pay a minor leaguer a major league salary to sit on the injured list. Isn't that exactly what they would be doing with Royce Lewis? Wouldn't it be even worse because they would be burning service time on their best prospect when they could option Lewis and burn service time on the older prospect Canterino (or the least valuable prospect Balazovic) instead? Isn't the service time more important than the $500,000 difference in pay?
  7. I see the battle for the last roster spot between Larnach and Kirilloff. Celestino is already penciled in at AAA. Solano is an adequate backup but I don't know how he fits into the lineup. He doesn't do anything better than someone else already on the roster.
  8. Nick Gordon for a reliever would be a good move for this roster.
  9. They're sharing 48% of revenue now. Conveniently, that's about the same revenue provided by TV broadcasting. They could decide to pool all the TV revenue and not pool the other revenue sources and get to nearly the same revenue sharing percentage.
  10. The Cubs are broadcast by a joint venture between the team and Sinclair so they are probably also affected. AT&T is rumored to want out of their contracts - that adds Colorado, Houston, Pittsburgh and Seattle. The Yankees and Blue Jays already control their streaming rights because they own their RSN. MASN is a joint venture between the Orioles and Nationals which brings us up to 23 teams where MLB could negotiate control. I think everyone else deals with Comcast or a joint venture with Comcast.
  11. My rebound pick is Matt Canterino. Hoping he comes back from ligament replacement surgery strong in September.
  12. The NFL shares all the TV money.
  13. Greinke didn't strike out 100 last year. It will probably take until 2024 for him to make it into that club.
  14. If they get to keep all of their own ticket revenue they will be incentivized to fill the stands. Right now if a team receives revenue sharing they lose some money for every ticket they sell.
  15. I agree it would make little sense to have a road announcer crew for TV but they still do it for radio and there's even less money at stake there. Maybe you get a choice between the home TV crew or your team's radio feed.
  16. Salary caps would not incentivize Oakland or Pittsburgh to spend more money. They would only limit the Mets and Dodgers from spending more money. MLB should have a $1M minimum salary already.
  17. There is already extensive revenue sharing in MLB (48% of the revenue is pooled) but the incentives are all wrong. It would be great if they agreed to share all the TV revenue and let each team keep their local ticket, concessions and parking revenue.
  18. Actually, if they're willing to put in on the major league injured list it gives them a chance to open up another roster spot by placing him on the 60 day IL.
  19. It's hard to throw any movement pitch if you can't use your fingers effectively. It's impossible to be an effective major league pitcher without a movement pitch.
  20. My point is that didn't make them the "good old days".
  21. Actually the more I study history the more I believe we're much better at treating each other with respect than our predecessors. Lynchings used to be commonplace, for example. History is full of examples of brutal violence because we couldn't get along with each other.
  22. Will he start the season at AAA? There isn't any room for him in the rotation if they keep Winder and Sands as starters. There are no expectations for Randy Dobnak this season. He's an afterthought.
