  1. At some point it will be too late to trade Santana. His effectiveness will decline with age. This is similar to Josh Willingham. Trade him now before he's untradeable. This is a seller's market and the Twins have an asset that multiple teams want.
  2. A 50-100 prospect who pitches plus some sweetener like a decent international bonus slot or an A-ball reliever with a live fastball would probably get me to bite. I think the Twins will have the luxury of multiple bidders driving up the price on Ervin Santana. They could do very well.
  3. Granite would not get selected. If selected he would likely be returned.
  4. Adds: Mitch Garver, Stuart Turner, Daniel Palka, Fernando Romero, Lewis Thorpe, Felix Jorge Possible: Jason Wheeler, Zack Jones
  5. I hope the Twins keep Nunez to mentor Sano and Polanco. I doubt they get much in return for trading him since he will be a pending free agent next season.
  6. JT Chargois looks good but he wouldn't have been the #15 pick in this year's draft.
  7. Vielma needs to play multiple positions. His potential future in MLB is as a glove-first futility infielder.
  8. My guess would be Palka has trouble with the curve but can hit a fastball if he knows it is coming.
  9. Plouffe, Dozier, Santana and Park or Arcia. These are the only guys who will bring back the pieces they need (catcher, more pitching depth) and there are replacements for all of them on the roster.
  10. "Anthony McIver earned his first save, a two inning version" Resourceful guy, that McIver.....
  11. Even if you plan on using the player as a reliever it makes sense to start them to get them innings until AA
  12. An "average" pitcher in the Florida State League has a 3.40 ERA. It is not a high run scoring league. Gonsalves is doing well but it is only 6 games in Ft Myers this season. I don't see a problem with him finishing the month there. His walk rate has improved from last season but is still high at 3.1 BB/9. Look at 2015 - he pitched similarly well in Cedar Rapids and was promoted after 9 games.
  13. At what point do they send down Rosario? He's been almost as bad as Buxton and has lost his starting spot to Santana and Arcia. Rosario needs daily ABs as well.
  14. I really hate when people start questioning the work ethic of a 22 year old who has already made it to the major leagues. He's miles ahead of nearly all of his peers. Do you know how hard it is to hit major league breaking balls? He's had about 550 plate appearances at AA and above. He needs more at-bats.
  15. I want to see Buxton bunt for a hit. He needs to develop that part of his game.
  16. Give him a call. He's not doing much at the moment and the Twins have an open roster spot.
  17. Michael Bourn would have been a good fit. Find any veteran who can field to sit on the bench for a few days. Then cut them when Plouffe returns. Will Venable has a May 1 opt-out with the Phillies.
  18. Right now I'm assuming Glen Perkins doesn't come back in 2016. Frayed labrum is not a good injury for a pitcher. I think he has been struggling with the same shoulder issue for some time and it is gradually deteriorating.
  19. If you don't want to option O'Rourke, the other possibility is to cut Casey Fien. Then you can call up whatever starting pitcher you want.
  20. Say what you will about Tommy Milone, he's a much more effective pitcher than O'Rourke. Option O'Rourke and move Tommy Milone to the bullpen if it is time to open up a spot in the rotation. The Twins have a need for a long reliever and nobody else fits that role as well as Milone. I also don't think trading away competent starting pitching is a good idea this early in the season. I agree that the decision to call up Meyer or Berrios isn't an easy one right now (which is terrific). Meyer is already on the 40 man roster so they wouldn't have to move Perkins to the 60 day DL to open a spot on the roster like they would for Berrios.
  21. "Nunez is pretty good at 3B." Mauer saved a bad throw from Nunez just last night. His stats are nothing special there also. Nunez is just adequate at 3B. He's just adequate defensively at SS and 2B too. He's a bat-first bench player and there is nothing wrong with that. I would guess an extended injury for Escobar would mean Danny Santana is the everyday SS again.
