  1. With Correa and Lewis both injured we should have seen the debut of Brooks Lee. Unfortunately that will have to wait a little longer.
  2. I expect they will need both of them and probably more to get through the season.
  3. I like Okert, he's been good and they control him for two more seasons after this one. They didn't give Nick Gordon away for nothing.
  4. Another good example of why WPA is a total garbage stat. Farmer lets a playable ball through and Jax gets all of the blame.
  5. Bowman doesn't have any options. It was option one of Alcala, Sands, Funderburk or release somebody.
  6. It's important to realize that the week-long series means a minor leaguer can feast off favorable pitching matchups for an entire week. All we know right now is he can hit Springfield's pitchers.
  7. Wallner had an extended period of consistent play last season. Do we know exactly what we have in him?
  8. This is not the battle I would choose to fight. Fungible relievers are fungible. Tonkin has benefitted from relief pitcher churn more than it has cost him in his career.
  9. The 80s teams had TK throwing batting practice (lefty).
  10. Wins are a great stat for teams. They belong in the standings, not in individual pitcher statistics. We don't assign wins to anyone else on the team.
  11. I agree with this. It's also important to note that not all OPS is equal. It's better to lose power and maintain OBP against same-sided pitchers than the other way around. If you aren't making outs then you can get a more productive hitter to the plate.
  12. That's a problem. If they can't practice batting against lefties they'll never get better. They pay a guy to be the bullpen catcher. There have to be some unemployed lefthanded pitchers they can hire to throw batting practice.
  13. I am assuming Funderburk. Do they want three lefthanded relievers in the bullpen?
  14. If a lefthanded batter can't hit lefty pitching in practice they won't be able to hit it in games. They get a lot more reps in practice.
  15. Mets are adding Tyler Jay to the roster. Yes, the one who never stayed healthy enough to pay off on the Twins selection of him in the first round of the draft. Mets To Select Tyler Jay - MLB Trade Rumors
  16. I am going to guess he is still here when Thielbar and Staumont return (Funderburk and Sands to AAA).
  17. Are Ted Williams’ Hitting Philosophies Still Relevant Based on the Data? | Community Blog (fangraphs.com)
  18. Ted Williams Looks Back | Baseball Hall of Fame
  19. Montgomery Burns platooned and he's about as old school as they come
  20. Gibson is 36 and his past 3 seasons posted an ERA+ of 86, 79 and 82 (WAR of 0.9, 0.4 and 0.3). You must not think much of Louie Varland.
  21. Can't tell the players without a program
  22. No, he pitched 3/31 and 4/2 with an off day in between. The innings leader is Duarte with 4 innings over 9 days. How can the bullpen be depleted with everyone pitching 4 or fewer innings over 9 days?
