  1. Right. Baseball is practical finance, not theoretical.
  2. I don't see Camargo as a must-add but it's probably easiest if they do add him. He'll have 3 options so he makes for a good backup plan. They'll have a tough call to make with players like Kiersey who are on the bubble as adds and Nick Gordon who is on the bubble as a drop.
  3. Front loading a baseball contract fails Finance 101
  4. It would be beyond stupid to remove a bidder before free agency even begins.
  5. He's not an abusive jerk and the abusive jerks of the world don't like him because of that.
  6. Basketball and hockey are niche sports. Got it. Some cities don't even have an opportunity to rack up 118 seasons. Many cities are either/or for NHL and NBA. Portland, Oregon only has the Blazers - is that better? Would you rather have 3 of those 4 teams leave town?
  7. Must protect is Martin, E Rodriguez and Severino. The rest look like potential bullpen guys or backups but you can find those in a lot of places.
  8. It has nothing to do with the Twins. I'm exhausted with people being mad at the Twins because the Vikings suck. If you wanted to watch a championship sports team play in Minnesota you had several to choose from in the last 20 years. It's not my fault you ignored the champions in order to follow the other teams.
  9. They're equally relevant to the Twins, which is not at all. It's a random grouping of wholly unrelated sports teams.
  10. The Lynx won four (2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017). Gopher men's hockey won in 2002 and 2003 and the women have 7 championships in the last 25 years. They're equally as relevant to the Twins as the Vikings, Wild and Timberwolves are to the Twins.
  11. The Twins should be willing to go 3 years $75M for Gray. He just put up a season worth $45M. Ultimately, I think someone gives him $100M. The Cardinals have already signaled their interest. I think trading for a starter has some merit, especially if they can trade offense for pitching. I would be interested in seeing what it would cost to get Cease from the White Sox. The Brewers might also be ready to sell pitching.
  12. Defense first to keep the Astros runs scored down
  13. A paddock is a pen, though it is a horse pen, not a bull pen. We may see Paddack emerge from the paddock tonight.
  14. Rocco has 6 relievers rested and available: Paddack, Varland, Thielbar, Jax, Stewart and Duran. Pagan is available but he pitched yesterday. I wouldn't be surprised to see ALL of them pitch tonight. I'm only reasonably sure we won't see Ober, Gray or Lopez tonight.
  15. Sitting here smiling that I don't understand any of these references.
  16. The same people overreacting to one playoff game were overreacting to one regular season game. Some of them even had trouble containing themselves in spring training.
  17. Over/under on innings from Joe Ryan? I don't see him getting a 3rd time through the order with a fully rested bullpen available. If he pitches 4 innings you'll know he's done well.
  18. If the Twins lose today they'll have a .500 record in the postseason.
  19. Ober came in on short rest to eat innings so Rocco didn't have to use any short relievers. He's literally taking one for the team there. I fully expect Rocco to empty his bullpen today to keep the game close. Expect a long game with a lot of pitching changes tonight.
  20. The Dodgers likelihood to win in the playoffs cratered when they lost Urias. Baltimore is a very young team and Texas has a great playoff manager in Bochy.
  21. If MLB doesn't want the lower seeds to win they shouldn't put them in the playoffs.
  22. You act like the plan was to pitch him middle-middle. I agree, that would be dumb, but I'm sure they're not trying to do that.
