  1. Kris Kristofferson was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2004.
  2. I agree that he's fun to watch, even if he was a less valuable player than Carlos Santana this season.
  3. Do they want to unload Vazquez? I get the feeling once they sign a player, they're hanging with them until the bitter end.
  4. Except when they aren't. It was reasonable to expect Alcala was injured and ineffective yet another season. Based on his actual results he exceeded expectations.
  5. Good luck. MLB hit .243 this season. That means .250 is a good batting average.
  6. With that budget they have roughly $100M to spend to get 40 additional wins above replacement. That means they need players to produce at an average of $2.5M/WAR. I don't understand why they signed Correa at $36M or Vazquez at $10M given those constraints. Correa is not going to produce 14 WAR seasons and Vazquez is not a 4 WAR catcher. The going rate for free agents is $8M-$10M per WAR. At those rates Correa is paid fairly. They might be able to find a large market team where he would be a better fit.
  7. I'm thrilled they traded their no defense, no power, 1 WAR in 2024, batting champ for a top of the rotation pitcher like Pablo Lopez.
  8. Pablo Lopez and Zebby Matthews get the same grade? That makes no sense.
  9. Spots filled: IF: Julien, Correa, Lewis, Castro, Lee, Miranda, Jeffers, Vazquez, Camargo (9) OF: Buxton, Larnach, Wallner, Keirsey, Martin, E Rodriguez (6) SP: Lopez, Matthews, Ober, Festa, Ryan, Woods Richardson, Headrick (7) RP: Duran, Jax, Alcala, Sands, Topa, Varland, Henriquez, Funderburk, RAYA, Moran (9) Maybe keep? Tonkin, Blewett, Helman, Kirilloff, Canterino, Severino, Winder (7) That's only 31 on the "keep" list. They need another corner outfield bat, starting pitcher and two relievers.
  10. Fair enough. If we're grading versus realistic expectations before the season began, then why does Brooks Lee, a 23-year-old rookie with hardly any time at AAA get a D grade? Why doesn't Buxton get an A for his comeback season? My expectations for Buxton were that he would never contribute again due to a chronic knee injury and he blew past those expectations.
  11. I expect 1B (or LF/RF) to be the best hitter on the team. Santana fell short of those expectations.
  12. This is the big problem with development. Contrary to what other posters have said, they actually draft a lot of toolsy shortstops. Royce Lewis should be able to field much better than what he has shown. They need to move people to their best position in the minors and give them a lot of reps instead of turning everyone into a bad utility player.
  13. His offensive contribution was about the same as Royce Lewis. Are these grades of the position player as a whole or just the bat?
  14. If anything, pitcher injuries are up. This is all about maximizing velocity. Velocity gets outs but it also limits the pitches thrown in a game and injures arms.
  15. Zebby and Festa are contrasts on what it takes to get minor league hitters out versus what it takes to get major league hitter out.
  16. Also, after 8 years of your strategy not producing the results you wanted, adjust your strategy. I have a feeling they'll just keep going with the same strategy for 30 years thinking "it's just a small sample size, eventually this will work".
  17. Is Levine going to be the sacrificial lamb? I would love to see a reporter ask Baldelli what he was wrong about this year, what he learned and what he is going to do differently next season. If he gives a rambling non-answer then he should be fired. If he can't learn from his own mistakes he's useless.
  18. Conversely, if this front office couldn't buy 4 more wins for $20M then they probably deserve to be shown the door.
  19. If you want to play everyday in the big leagues be good at defense.
  20. When I read the headline to the thread I assumed the author meant we should sit in the doorway at Target Field and not let Max leave until he takes six Cool Whip containers of leftovers home.
  21. Twins Hall of Fame? His entire list of league wide awards is: AL Player of the Week August 7 2016 AL Player of the Week May 26 2019 I like Max Kepler but there's no reason to exaggerate his accomplishments.
  22. I'm glad that Rocco is disappointed in this season and upset with himself. I have little confidence that he will be able to change his habits to address his weaknesses. Is he capable of self-analysis and changing his preparation and training?
  23. If they really feel they need to keep Rocco because he is under contract and they don't want to pay two managers then that's one more piece of evidence that the bottom line is more important than winning.
