  1. Emmanuel Rodriguez has a direct path to the big leagues the first time Buxton gets injured, although this front office might keep him in AAA because he bats lefthanded and they'd rather call up a RH hitter for the role.
  2. Capable? Sure, but incredibly unlikely. Raya will probably be spending his 3rd consecutive season in Double-A and Canterino will probably be spending his 3rd consecutive season on the injured list.
  3. You must be visiting a different Baseball Reference. The one I visit has him +4 RField in 32 games with positive defensive runs saved at 2B, SS and 3B.
  4. The coaching staff, opposing scouts and the defensive metrics disagree with you.
  5. Lee is their 2nd best infield defender after Correa.
  6. I have no problem rooting for the underdog. It would be so much fun to see this team go in with no expectations and knock the Yankees out of the playoffs.
  7. The response should be "I'm not sure I want to sign one of your guys again. They whine too much."
  8. Larnach, Wallner and Miranda have been average, if not slightly above average. They really miss Buxton and Correa.
  9. It would really help the rookie pitchers (and the bullpen) if the defense played better. They miss Correa and Buxton defensively at least as much as they do on offense.
  10. He's been outplayed by Miranda and Lee at 3B. Other than Castro the competition (Julien, Farmer, Martin) is not as good at 2B.
  11. The Royals' pitchers didn't leave very many pitches in the middle of the plate. They got outpitched tonight.
  12. The other playoff teams in the American League are not exactly loaded with pitching. If you look at the top 60 pitchers by WAR: Out of Playoffs: Skubal, Greene, Fedde, Skenes, Anderson, Crochet, Webb, Ortiz, Houck, Abbott, Yates, Imanaga, Woo, Sanchez, Keller, Gilbert, Lorenzen, Eovaldi, Holton, Assad, Helsley, Walker, Gomber, Miller, Crawford, Soriano In Playoffs (NL): Sale, Wheeler, Lopez, Nola, King, Suarez, Cease, Flaherty, Iglesias, Scott, Manea, Peterson, Fried, Hudson, Glasnow, Myers, Estevez, Adam In Playoffs (AL): Lugo, Ragans, Blanco, Valdez, Clase, Gil, Wacha, Brown, Jax, Gaddis, Lopez, Bibee, Burnes, Ober, Joe Ryan, Eflin, Lorenzen The Royals have all the pitching, then Houston. The Twins match up fine with everyone else.
  13. I expect he will start again at Cedar Rapids. There is so much attrition as the season goes on due to injuries. In the spring teams are still hoarding players and trying to figure out what they have which makes the AAA roster full of veterans. Some of that depth pushes "org" players down to AA.
  14. Which is hilarious since DiPoto "revamped" their offense to cut down on strikeouts. The revamped Mariners offense’s biggest focus? Cut down on all the strikeouts - The Athletic (nytimes.com)
  15. Keirsey Jr will be thrilled to play 273 major league games like Andrew Stevenson.
  16. Sports are a lot more fun when you don't care quite as much who wins.
  17. Sad that it ends with a whimper but that's not unusual.
  18. He has bounced back from his rough patch but only to mediocre. I think I trust Ronny Henriquez more right now.
  19. I'm expecting he'll be batting at the bottom of the lineup. He should be the best fielding CF on the roster. Castro can go back to 2B where he is the best fielding option at that position. Lewis back to 3B. I am expecting an upgrade over having injured Max Kepler in the lineup.
