  1. I really don't want the Twins to spend their scarce money on free agents re-signing a declining Max Kepler. I don't know if he will get a multi-year contract based on his production from this season. Maybe 1 year $8M with a team option and buyout?
  2. Is Emmanuel Rodriguez season over or is there a chance he plays with St. Paul in September? He would be a good choice for the AFL to get some extra reps. Not sure if he's eligible. Kalai Rosario is another who has missed a lot of time this summer.
  3. If they were 33-36 against teams above .500 they would have the best record in the American League. Only 3 teams have winning records against > 500 - NYY, BAL and CLE.
  4. That sounds a whole lot classier than turd polishing.
  5. He's not great, but have you seen the stats of the relievers on the waiver wire? Okert would not make it through waivers.
  6. It's another deadline where they recognized a need and completely failed to address it. The non-move is costing them games right now and will be more exposed in the playoffs.
  7. Buxton should be back in 3 days.
  8. I don't see anyone new getting a callup in September. Buxton, Correa and Lee are on the injured list. They get one extra spot. If all 3 come back in September then they need to send 2 players currently on the MLB roster to AAA. Most likely scenario is Lee and either Martin or Julien end up back in AAA. If they want to add a 3rd catcher then all three players will head to St. Paul with Camargo coming up to the Twins. If they need to add an infielder I think Diego Castillo is more likely than Eeles because they can remove Castillo from the roster in the offseason. They will want to stash Eeles off the 40 man roster this winter.
  9. There are only 40 spots on the roster. If you add someone like Keirsey or Eeles to "see what they can do" then you'll lose someone else forever.
  10. Will any of the minor league teams make the playoffs? It appears the Mussels have a chance. Wichita is unlikely but some of those players may get called up to St. Paul to finish the season.
  11. It may help Julien that he doesn't have to worry about too many different pitches for the reliever. He's been hitting fastballs and missing breaking balls. I agree that it is good that he is swinging rather than watching strikes go by when he has 2 strikes.
  12. Yes, and "among the top 10 shortstops in the American League" essentially means you're dead average.
  13. Wynton Bernard is a 33-year-old journeyman minor leaguer who is happy to be able to put on a uniform. He's not a prospect.
  14. Or the next Tony Kemp? Altuve was already a 2-time all-star at the age Eeles is now. Kemp had an 800 OPS in AAA at age 24. If he's somewhere between those two players, he'll have a decent career.
  15. Alex Kirilloff reminds me of Delmon Young. Both players were maxed out hitters in high school but not able to star at the highest level. They're also not elite athletes (compared to other major leaguers) so they don't contribute defensively.
  16. If you want to be a jerk and insult the Twins minor league coaching staff you can do it without bringing a particular player into the conversation.
  17. I am surprised they are promoting Culpepper with just a few weeks remaining.
  18. Speaking of only 3 weeks left in the season, are Fort Myers and Cedar Rapids going to make the playoffs? Are there any players from Wichita who could join the Saints for September (McCusker, Adams, Raya, Nowlin, Grace)?
  19. There's only 3 weeks left in the season for all levels below AAA. Keep them in Fort Myers through fall instructs.
  20. I can't think of any. I would be really surprised if anyone did this for a position player. If a player isn't good enough for your 26 man roster you non-tender them.
  21. How many teams keep an ARB2 salaried player just to stash him in AAA? All that maneuvering means is there is no reason to throw away an option on purpose.
  22. That's a shame. I think he's their best option at 2B and I don't think he will return more in a trade than he's worth to the team.
