    Nice to see Wade moving up the list. He was quite a find in the ninth round. I love Walker but the K's are a killer. I think I am on to rooting for Palka. He appears to be a bit more well rounded. Bummer about Thorpe. I have been anxiously awaiting his return. Was hoping he could get himself moved up to high A by the end of the year. With all the past arm problems does this mean Meyer is officially a bullpen arm?

    I am hoping there is value at our slot for a High school pitcher. Given the way our pitching is stacking up I think that makes the most sense at least long term. I also wouldn't mind a high school bat there but not sure the value will be there either. It seems like the value will be college pitchers where we pick but who knows how the draft will go. I am OK with a college pitcher there but we could have quite a glut of starters in High A and AA next year. Not a horrible situation but not ideal either. Not in love with a lot of hitters for pick 15, but would like to use second round picks on hitters if value is there as our system is in need of better hitting at most all positions except maybe SS.

    I am sure you are right but have the Twins ever had a pitcher with a K9 rate that Chargois has? I don't know how much more Chargois can do to get his shot and I don't know how much more desperate the Twins can get for help in the pen. Considering all the other crazy moves they have made why not Chargois? I guess after the draft we will start to see changes as short season ball starts and they make room for more players.

    Wheelhouse pitched almost as well in 2014 and made a believer out of me. I thought he had things figured out back then. Then came 2015 and he really looked bad. Maybe he was injured or something I don't know. All I know is I am not sure who the real Jason Wheeler is as a pitcher. Good to see the strikeouts up but he is still a bit too hittable IMO. Could be a good potential pen arm. I hope he continues to do well because they pretty much picked him over Gilmartin and Gilmartin has done well as a reliever for another team.

    I agree that none of us know the exact right time to promote players and the Twins Coaches have a much better feel for that than than the box score fans. However, you start looking at what those guys are doing are high A and you start to wonder what more do they have to learn at that level? It just doesn't even seem challenging for Gonsalves, Stewart and Jorge there. Sure promoting to soon can be detrimental and the jump for pitchers from High A to double A is a tough one but life is full of challenges and risk. In many ways you either sink or swim as you move up. There is a lot of support for players and a lot of these guys have tough mental makeups they aren't really made of glass. Promoting too slow has it's own risks. It can create a sense of over confidence and can stunt growth as the player is no longer challenged. It also wastes the Orgs potential use of that player over time if they make it to the MLB. So there is risk either way. Can't argue on Eides it is just my opinion based on box scores. He has a good game and then a bad game and he gives up a lot of hits. Just seems better suited to the pen to me. Something could click but he seems to have been the same pitcher all the way up so I personally don;t see him changing.

    I think you took what he said the wrong way. it seems to me he is simply stating those types of players shouldn't stand in the way of the young pitchers that are showing potential to be number 1, 2 or 3 starters. I don't think he was saying get rid of every pitcher who is a non-prospect. Right now the only interesting prospect pitcher at AA is Slegers and even he looks like a four or five to me. You could say Eides but really in the end he is just too hittable. They really should move him to the pen unless they just want him to be filler. The rest of the spots appear to filled by guys that have peaked and at best would be number 5's. Why have those guys block the prospects with greater potential? You can say it is early in the season and it doesn't matter but these guys are only going to throw so many pitches\innings this year and it makes more sense to challenge them and acclimate them to a new level as soon as possible so that you can decide what they can do at the upper levels and if they are worthy of being added to the forty man or helping the Big club ASAP. A lot of us don't see the point in delaying the young pitchers when there is no one of note blocking them.

    I am a big Jay fan but I was worried about early this year. he seemed to giving up really good contact early in the season. Maybe he was working on stuff but he was very hit-able. Lately his result seem more in line with Stewart and Gonsalves. Hoping he has turned a corner but he still has me concerned. It is just his first year in pro ball but he was a high first round pick so am expecting great things.

    I like the idea of going High school pitcher in the first round. It should match up well with where our pitching is at at each level. As long as we get some bats in the second round things should even out. We have three picks in the second and we need more productive bats in the system. We should have good pitching at all levels shortly so hopefully we focus on bats in this draft.

    Have been a huge fan of Gonsalves since the Twins picked him. If he continues to pitch well he has the best opportunity to move to the big club first as he is left handed and it seems the Twins are always looking to get a lefty or two in the rotation. Really a lot of great pitching prospects in the system right now. That big grouping in High A is gonna push that excellent pitching all the way to AAA and then MLB. Most of those guys look to have the stuff to make it if they don't get injured along the way.

    Man if Gonsalves hadn't given up three runs in the first inning of his first game he would have a sub 1 ERA. He needs to be moved to AA. The more time he spends there the more likely he can help the big club next year. Does anyone know if Romero and Thorpe are ready to pitch yet? For promotions to happen they need someone to step in at Low A and move someone from Low A to High A.

    Yep I think a lot of people on here felt that way last year. Somehow the Twins saw the Value (i.e. two years of control) for themselves and apparently didn't want to give that away. If the guys in AAA keep pitching well and they move Milone to the pen that value will be gone. Not that is was much to begin with after all we got him by trade off of a waiver claim, and his peripherals are not great so i don't think the Twins were going to get much for him anyway. If Milone doesn't pick it up in the next couple of starts maybe the Twins will make a move sooner than I think but they seem the patient type to me. I think Berrios or Meyer would look better in his spot just have to wait and see what they decide to do and when.

    I don't think Tommy Milone is the future for the Twins. I just think the FO is going to give him more time to straighten out especially since they demoted him to AAA last year and he was lights out down there. If they can trade him right now I think they should but again I think they will be patient. They will play things out and see where they are by June or July and then make the tougher decisions. Lot's of young pitchers seem to struggle when they hit the Majors. I think Trevor May walked about half the batters he faced when he first came up. Gibson wasn't great either. Duffey was pretty good but had a tough first game out there and got sent down. I just think odds are there is an adjustment period. How long is anybodies guess but usually there is one.

    Like most everyone else I would like to see the young guys up because they are this teams future and they need the experience to get better. Why waste a year on the young position players learning and then next year on Young pitchers learning their craft? Just bite the bullet and move forward as fast as you can. And yet I get why the FO won't do it. First there is the small sample size for the MLB and MILB pitchers involved. Second the FO needs wins to put people in the seats to pay for the team so its not easy to go with the young guys who might struggle. Third it wouldn't be a bad idea to build trade value for the starters you have and with such a small sample size it is hard to do that. Fourth all the other teams are waiting to see what they have before feeling a strong need to trade for players which is why a lot of trades don't happen until June and July when teams better know where they stand in the playoff chase. Verdict to me is the Twins are not going to make any quick moves with the starters. Someone is going to have to be really bad for several turns or injured before any early changes will be made, Unless they decide to move starters in AAA to the pen I don't see anything happening until June or July.

    Yeah that HIgh A to Double A jump does seem to be a tough for pitchers. Probably best to make sure they have their pitches as refined as possible. It is early but they all seem to have been dominant so far this season. Can't wait to see them move up and see if they are for real or not.

    Well at least we have the fabulous five in High A to keep an eye on this year. Given how the guys in double A have been pitching they should move one or two of the fabulous five up there.

    I was one of the posters to write Meyer off last year. He seemed such a mess I didn't see him ever getting things back together. I mean even from the bullpen he couldn't seem to miss bats or find the plate. He looked done to me even though the stats guys on here said things didn't look quite as bad as they appeared it was tough to watch him last year. These past two outings are encouraging and I never thought I would ever in my lifetime see a game where Alex had zero walks. He typically has to give up at least three free passes a game if not more. My mind can't fathom the Zero walks and no runs allowed from Meyer. Hope he keeps it up. Looks like Alex wants first crack at a Major league spot right now. If he has those demons behind him look out.

    Yeah I know but I am a big Gordon believer. Just want to see him do well and like Mike I think there is a good chance he will continue to do well. If Vielma can't be moved then that would be a problem for Gordon to move as they both can't play the same position. I am guessing they will leave him in high A but I can dream bigger than that.

    Or Vielma gets promoted to AAA by the All Star break. Who is really blocking him in AAA? I thought Polanco was playing 2nd base more now and Beresford was in a utility role. If Gordon is doing well keep him moving. Oh yeah that's right the Twins are typically one level at a time I always forget that.

    I'd go pitcher in the first and take some bats in the second round as we have three picks in that round. So I'll go with the best pitcher available when we pick.

    Sure but did Bonds hit 30 his first couple of years? Sano has things to learn yet. He might make 30 we'll see. I certainly hope he does but it won't be as easy as some think it will. I think with anyone on base or a close game they will choose to pitch to someone else or try and entice him to swing at junk. He might start fast but once he proves himself I am betting there will be a big slow down in homers.

    I tend to agree with you Mike. I think once he starts abusing baseballs he isn't gonna see anything good to hit. Pitchers\teams are gonna game plan big time around him so I think he will have a hard time topping 30 homers this year. He has surprised me with how mature he is as a batter so maybe he goes over thirty but I doubt it. I would be impressed if he does at least this year. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

    In many ways I agree with your sentiment. After following these guys from the minors up to MLB and being so invested in their success it is hard to give up on them even if they move to another team. Do I follow them as closely? Probably not but I guess there is part of me that wants to believe I was right about that player. That he would be good or great if given more opportunity. At any rate I get your point and agree that I spend far more time worrying about the players on the Twins than Ex Twins players. So I think in many ways you are correct in your analysis.

    Yeah a lot of us liked the moves the Sox made last year myself included. Your pitching is good but defense and timely hitting always seem to fall short. I for one think the Sox are due for a little extra luck but I think others are waiting to see if they will break out of their funk Despite your analysis I still question the hitting side of equation for your team but if they do find a groove with the bats they have the pitching to take the division. As I said earlier a lot of us here have liked the Sox moves in the off-season but just haven't seen the results so there is a little extra skepticism there.
