I can't believe the Lookouts came back and won. After the Rosario debacle I totally had them losing that game. It has been a magical season for that group this year. They just need to win the championship to finish this off right.

Don't forget Bechtold. He has cooled recently but I think he is only 20 years old as well. Seems to have a good eye makes contact. Add Kirolof to your grouping and you have a darn tough lineup.

Article: It's OK To Get Excited Again, Twins Fans!
Dman replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This article was timely and yes I am more excited about the Twins than I was a week ago. Yes I had conceded the season and that they had virtually no chance at wild card spot. There are a lot of tough games left but this team still has fight in them. After the last several years I am just happy to have something to cheer about. If the pitching holds I believe they can stay there until the end but will it hold up? That is the question. It would really be nice if Enns looked good in his debut but Milwaukee's homer prone lineup will be a big challenge for him. We'll see what happens. Feels good to have this team at 500 this late in the season.- 59 replies

Yep I agree he can't be any worse than Gimenez and likely will be better with the bat. He could be a situational pinch hitter and he can play several positions so a good bench player to boot. Twins still have a chance for the wild card make this team a strong as possible, please.

I totally agree. There is no one at third to throw too. I would have to look again but he was already over half way to home. Granted he was bluffing but it was a good bluff. I honestly think given the shift he could have stolen home with the pitcher looking right at him. He just needed to time it right. I really don't blame the pitcher I would have been nervous the way Eddie was running around as well. If they cover third he can't take that kind of lead. If the other team didn't think he would take off for home at some point they don't know Rosario. They might have nabbed him trying to steal home but I wouldn't bank on it. I think the Brewers should have been smarter there and they might have pulled the game out in the end.

Rosario creating that balk was a thing of beauty. That shift has to be on the manager. Their manager helped lose that game for them. Rosario can make me cringe and make me smile. One thing he is consistent on is his passion for the game. I do love watching him.

Still waiting for a dominant start from Littell. I am beginning to think I set my expectations way too high for him. He just hasn't seemed to pitch to his stat line since coming over. Is our league tougher than the one he came from? He has seemed very hittable since coming over. I know it is early but have liked what I have seen from Barnes. I hope the Twins found something there. I also hope he continue to pitch well so that he starts in High A next year with chance to move to AA if he continues to pitch well. Also nice to see Carrier bounce back. Maybe he can have a Jorge like surge to his career.

Tom you make reading about the Twins so much fun. I feel lucky that I get to read your stuff. You should be getting paid big bucks for this stuff as your recaps are the better than any of the others I read. Thanks!

What is the scoop on Jovani Moran? He has pitched well this year but I was surprised that he appears to a pen arm. I thought he was starter material when they drafted him. Is this just a blip or is he a long term bullpen arm?

Why isn't Gore on this list? Didn't he have a .943 OPS in E-Town?- 20 replies

Really happy they moved Gore up. He has been batting near .400 for a while now. I know he is older but would be nice to see if they found something there. I feel bad for Gorge but he has more time to develop. Pretty exciting to see Enlow pitch well so soon. If he keeps that up he could be a fast riser. Chatty is really good this year. Hopefully some of that pitching translates well to MLB.

Sounded like Leach had a long ways to go when drafted so not too surprised. Hopefully that frame will be durable and I am certain he will improve over the next couple of years. Good to see him out there getting experience so he knows what he needs to work on. Was a little disappointed in Little's debut. I was looking for a bit more dominance given some of the things I had read. Certainly not a horrible outing I guess I was surprised at the apparent lake of control since it looked like he had good marks there in his BIO. I know it was just one start with his new team but for me it was disappointing. Was really nice to see teams come from behind and find ways to win. It has been fun following all of the affiliates this year.

Article: Twins Trade Kintzler To Nationals
Dman replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Through spring training I thought it was neck and neck between Duffy and Meija for the 5th starter role. http://twinsdaily.com/_/minnesota-twins-news/minnesota-twins/tyler-duffey-shines-in-spotlight-start-r5440 I think the FO saw Duffy did not have a strong enough third pitch and moved him to the pen. I guess they could have seen that coming but if he had figured that third pitch out he could have been the 5th starter with Meija as depth. It just didn't work out. -
Article: Rule 5 Addition Discussion
Dman replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I totally get that he would be in way, way over his head but how much do rule 5 guys play anyway? We limped along with Haley most of this year and he barely played. If you are a rebuilding team I don't know why you wouldn't consider it. I will say most of the position players taken have been above A ball and SS, CF or Catchers. I guess there must be more that goes into it than just grabbing a good prospect.- 93 replies

Article: Rule 5 Addition Discussion
Dman replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If I was San Diego or some other team that is a likely loser next year I would love to grab another teams top ten prospect in the rule 5 draft. Super easy way to gain a young controllable player for nothing. Who cares if Diaz takes up a bench spot all year they are a losing team anyway. When the Twins were super bad I would have hoped they would do something like that.- 93 replies

Article: Twins Trade Kintzler To Nationals
Dman replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yeah but the alternative was to deplete the farm even more to try and fill too many holes on this team for such a small chance of success even to reach the wild card round. So if the gamble didn't pay off then what wait for another window. Staying with what we have wasn't working. We already lost a series to the A's and both Clevland and KC have better pitching and fewer holes to fill than we do. Sell was the option with the best percentage for future success. I don't get why you would be so down on the prospects we got. These are not your typical Twins deadline pickups. Most all of them are fast risers\young for their level and have high upside. Yeah lots and lots of prospects don't turn out but the odds are better when picking out of someones top 20. None of the players we traded had much value to begin with. I think they did a heck of a job to get us some compelling arms for our window. This team has more work to do and we need to find out more about how the prospects we have handle facing MLB players. This should open the door to do that. Even if you are right and none of these guys make it you have to try and find better talent if you want to compete with better teams. -
Looks like Kintzler is going down to the wire as predicted.

I am a little surprised there hasn't been more trade activity. Makes me nervous about the returns especially for relievers. There seems to be a fair number of quality relievers out there so likely a buyers market. Dozier has done nothing to make himself appealing at the deadline. I thought last year he had turned a corner but I think this is pretty much who he is. I don't see a big a return in the future either. It is nice to have his power at 2nd but he seems pretty replaceable. I agree that Belisle could get traded but for very little and that would be the appeal. When used properly he is pretty solid so I think teams would be interested for a far away lottery pick. It would be nice if some team would pony up for Escobar to remove the log jam of middle infielders but it seems unlikely as he is considered a utility player and I think the Twins value him higher than the market does. It doesn't appear that any team wants to pay big in prospects for the starters that are available so that makes me doubt Sanana gets moved as he is pretty valuable to the Twins for next year and could be dangled again if needed. Kintzler seems like the most likely to go but we will have to wait and see.

Really liking Widell. Seems like most of the pitchers they drafted this year have been doing well in Elizabethton. Might be time to get some of them to A ball. Some of the hitters especially the senior signs could stand to moved up as well. Especially since Cedar Rapids can't seem to get the offense going and the pitching hasn't been as good after some of promotions either.

Yeah some of the guys on the Yankee's site thought Enns would have been a better choice for 5th starter than the guys the Yankee's were throwing out there so he has potential. From what I can tell on Yankee site the Yankee's were going to have a tough time protecting all the guys they have so seemed to be willing to sweeten the pot. This looks like a pretty good trade for MN. Lets hope these guys don't turn into pumpkins like Murphy did.

Article: Twins Rumor Central: Sunday Edition
Dman replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Seems like we gave up very little for Little. If that is who we get. Stats make him look like a solid pitcher but he could end up being a AAAA player as well. He appears to have a decent Curve which is all the rage these days. If the Twins pull it off I would say this is a good get for Garcia. By making the Garcia trade they move on from a 19 year old in Rookie ball to a 21 year old in AA. That speeds things up. A number 4 isn't sexy but pretty good for a rental. If they get this guy some starter in Chatty has to move up, right?- 67 replies
