    Palacio would have my pick as well. He has a chance to be this years Orlando Arcia or he could just as easily fall to earth in A ball. Hard to say as several guys do well until they hit A or High A and they find the off speed stuff too much to handle. This guy seems like a fantastic hitter though so I am betting on him doing well. I would also like to think the Twins paid Javiar 4M for a reason. I have heard there are potential holes in his swing but that he hits the ball hard. I would like to think he will do well and be ranked top 10 before long. I am a big Jay believer as well. Scouting reports were glowing for him but transitioning to starter is a guessing game. he has the pitches just hope he has the endurance and no Tommy John in his future.

    Was never a big Eades fan but hope you are right about him. I hope he will turn out to be a valuable player. I still think you have Vielma too low. He was hitting really well at the end of the year and his defense is likely elite. He really has to be in at least the top 20. Love how you cover some of the more unseen guys. Thanks for the write ups!

    Initially I was not a Tommy fan but after what he did when they dropped him to AAA and then up to MLB I became a big Tommy fan. I think he has earned his place in the rotation and yes it is nice to have a lefty arm. I think this Milone, May debate comes down to depth and how the Twins want to use said depth. If I was a GM I would want to try and build or continue to build the value of the guys I brought in via FA. So yes I would start the season with the vets give them a 4 to 5 start leash and re-evaluate from there. I can come up with all kinds of numbers to create positive and negative scenario's but I think in the end you have to give the vets first crack. What if Nolasco pitches great this coming year? What if Hughes has a huge bounce back year? What is Santana is unhitable out of the gate? We don't know how these guys are going to perform until they start. If they start off badly then yeah look at moving Hughes to the pen. Replace Nolasco etc. Move May back to the starting rotation. If the older vets get hurt or are ineffective then the plan B's can come in to play. In my mind we are going to need all the pitching we can get and if we don't then that means the old guys are doing just fine. I don't care where they put May as long as we are winning. If we aren't then the FO needs to be ready to be on the hot seat because I believe we do have younger better options.

    Although for the most part I like your starting pitching lineup I don't think that is what the Twins will do. They will let the Vets start. They stated they wanted to rebuild Nolasco's value and Hughes was our best pitcher in 2014. I think all the high paid vets will start the season as starters baring injury. So I see the starting rotation as Nolasco, Hughes, Santana, Gibson and Milone. A pen of Perkins, Jepson and May, likely Pressley, Fein and Tonkin, Maybe Darnell or maybe Duffey unless they want to keep him stretched out. If they really went with who is the best in the rotation that list would change but I am fairly certain they will start with vets and make changes from there.

    I am kind of with NicksaViking on this one. I would like to see the Twins use the hard throwers we have in the pen. Lets see if we can build a pen like KC using the farm. Odds are the Twins will use May and possibly Duffy in the pen to start the year and they should be solid there. Then there is Chargois, Burdi, Meyer and Reed that could be ready soon. Gotta believe one or two will make it up this year. Due to this site and many posters on it I have come around on the spend for good players theory as there is little downside spending to make your team better. However, I wasn't in love with many of the relievers on the market and felt they got way over paid. Also it doesn't seem like a great idea to spend major dollars in the pen as it seems like the least bang for your buck. I didn't care for the Boston or Arizona trades for pitching where the cost was extremely high and maybe that is my weak spot as I love the prospects we have more than I probably should. I just don't see the point of losing that level of prospects for one guy. I also didn't like what the A's did essentially giving away player for lower ceiling prospects. To me the market at the winter meetings was variable in all the wrong ways for the Twins. I know several disagree with that as there is money that can and should be spent but I just don't feel like criticizing too much just yet.

    I don’t love the idea of Sano in the outfield but I also don’t know how good or bad he will be out there yet. Do the Twins really need to keep Plouffe? I don’t think so. Even if Sano got hurt and needed to DH Nunez could play third and probably be close to as productive as Plouffe was. If the Twins want to maximize their return for Plouffe I would think trading him now or before the deadline would be the best value you could get for him. At the same time there isn’t a burning need to maximize Plouffe’s trade value as the 40 man is filling up with young players and we are gonna have a hard time keeping everyone we currently have as it is. Also the rumored Trade with the Angels doesn’t appear to bring back anything outstanding either. Given those scenarios maybe Plouffe just has more value staying with the Twins. The other thing brought up on this board is that an injury to Mauer, Park, Plouffe or Sano and there is no real log jam there. Odds are someone will get injured and be out for a while. So to keep or not keep I could go either way. Maybe depth is the better way to go this year I don’t know. At the same time I don’t think it matters much what they do right now. If things are going well or poorly for the team in June they can trade him then. If he ends up being a key cog in their success then they made the right choice hanging onto him. If someone offers the Twins a deal too good to pass up then go for it. I doubt the offers will be good to great for an average third baseman but who knows.

    I agree with your assessment of Wimmers. Thing is I believe Gilmartin was pretty much the same way the year before and yet the Mets were able to look past that and see the potential. I don't think Wimmers has the stuff to start but I think he can be a very good bullpen arm with just a little bit more consistency. A risk to be sure but one I think some team will take.

    Nice job! Lots of great information there. Thanks for putting that together. I agree with you on Wimmers I think he will be a very good reliever. Looks like twins are going with younger age and upside for guys they are keeping with the exception being Dean.

    IMO Wimmers might be the Gilmartin of this year. He might stink as a starter but I think he has the pitches to be a good bullpen piece. Will be interesting to see who gets plucked.

    Not that prospects lists are everything but Jones is at number 23 on MLB.com. Dean isn't even listed and I don't even remember Dean being on anyone's top 50 either. How often do teams give up top 20 prospects to the Rule 5?

    I think the only player left I am worried about is Zach Jones. I am pretty certain he will get picked in the rule 5. There were just too many guys to protect so they had to lose some guys I guess. Achter is a bummer loss as i really like him but his upside seems lower than other relievers we have in the system. So losing him is probably best for everybody concerned. Same for Pinto if he isn't going to catch. Michael is nice but there are four guys ahead of him and three guys with greater potential behind him. He is lost in this system as well. I hope someone picks him up but I doubt anyone will.

    I'm not a huge fan of putting Levi on the 40 as I think if we are keeping both Nunez and Santana we have enough utility infielders. Even if everybody got hurt I would prefer Polanco to Levi anyway. I don't think there is enough upside there to put him on. I felt like Pat Dean had a great year last year but I Like what NicksaViking had to say about Dean. Again I don't think he is someone worth protecting but the Twins do know him better than I do. Would be nice if they could work out some sort of trade with him added in. I really do like Melotakis. I know it is hard to say how he will come back but he had outstanding stuff. I liked him as a starter but in the Pen he should be dominant. Seems risky to leave him out there since it seems guys can be hidden in the pen for other teams. I like Zach Jones too. Might be a tougher call there but if it were me I would add him. Not sure what to think about Harrison as he does have good plate discipline but he hasn't shown power so I would think he would be safe if they don't protect him.

    Hmmm I thought the Twins were pursuing Murphy and not the Yankee's pursuing Hicks. Shouldn't we have gotten a little bit more in this trade then? I mean the Yankee's get a player that has All Star upside and we get a player with solid upside? I am not sure I am down with that unless the Twins really believe this is likely Aaron's highest upside or close to it. If the Twins were pursuing Murphy then I could see the slight overpay but not the other way around. Couldn't the Twins get them to throw in some A ball lottery pick player? I am starting to feel like we didn't get full value here.

    I don't love the trade but don't hate it either. My only problem with Hicks is I don't think he is ever gonna hit from the left side. He has had a lot of time to figure it out and I don't see it happening. I do see more potential in Hicks than Murphy but I think we need more promise at catcher than outfield where we have several guys coming up. It didn't seem like Hicks was ever gonna have a future in center field for us. We always berate Ryan for not taking chances and here he is taking chances and we still are not happy.

    I was one of the people against signing Hunter this year. In the end my feeling is that the signing could not have worked out much better than it did. It was really a great way for Hunter to go out. He should and will be remembered for the great baseball player that he was. If you want to pick your time I think Hunter is doing his right. On the other hand I think he can still play and should play for a couple more years. Not with the Twins but on another team in a diminished role. He really didn't look completely done to me. I guess 19 years is maybe hanging on long enough. For me I love all the things about Hunter even the controversial statements as they make him unique. You don;t have to agree with anything that he said outside the game. he was just willing to say what he thought and I can respect that. In the End I will miss Mr. Hunter and I am happy he will retire as a Twin.

    I really like Palacios. Although it is a bit early I think I would place him my top 20 maybe at number 20. A guy that young that can hit that well is rare and usually a good sign of great things to come. Hate to get my hopes up too high as he has a long way to go and much better pitching to face but I really like him as a prospect. I never liked the Diaz signing. He was one of the last guys I wanted out of that class. He just seemed slow all the way around to me. Then Again I have issue's with most 1st baseman types in general so maybe it is just me. I wouldn't have him ranked nearly this high though. I get that he is young and has lots of time to get that swing together but I fail to see large potential there. I hope I am dead wrong and he makes me eat crow but that is how I see things right now. Gibbons is interesting. I didn't think he was gonna make it through the season in Cedar Rapids but he proved me wrong. If he figured some things out maybe we have another good pitching prospect. I am still sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop on him. I need to see another good season before getting too excited. Nice to see you like him enough to make the top 25 though.

    I still like Goodrum a lot. If he could just improve that hit tool then I believe he can make it. I think he would be a really good third baseman as he is athletic and can even steal bases. Hit tool has to improve though and I wonder if it ever will.

    A lot of people on this board were not Duffey believers despite his good K9 numbers. Perhaps it was just the lack of faith in a reliever turned starter but I thought I heard several posters mention his fastball wasn't fast enough as well. Anyway he is looking pretty good right now and next year you have to decide what roles May, Duffey and Berrios will play with the Twins versus Nolasco, Gibson, Santana and Hughes. I wonder if Duffey and Berrios are gonna end up in AAA most of next year again. Nice to have some good pitching again and even better good young pitchers. Things are looking up for the Twins and Duffey is big part of that.

    Other than Gordon the Kernals didn't seem to have any real potential All-Star type players. They really surprised me this year as I thought they might have a down year. Seemed like pitching carried the team as the hitters kind of struggled. I was very surprised they made it to the championship game as so many other teams looked better on paper to me. The Kernals were solid the whole season though and I felt they were the best affiliate this year in that regard. If they can get it done with that group it seems like the Kernals should be good every year. Tough luck for them to lose the last two but still a great season for most all the players.

    With the promotions of Sano, Buxton, Berrios and Duffey and the demotions of Burdi and Reed I didn't give Chatty much of a chance in the post season. Baxendale looked broken in August and Wheeler looked like a lost pitcher in AAA. I would not have guessed that those two would pitch so well in the post season. I know there was a lot of talent left with Kepler, Polanco, Walker, and Michael among others but I didn't think they had enough pitching to get it done. Boy was I wrong. Congrats to those guys on an good season and great post Season.

    Don't forget the Twins just signed Wander Javier as well. So shortstop looks pretty stacked. for Quite a while. Palacios sure looks like the real deal to me but there is a long way to go to know for sure. Appy league doesn't prove a player will be successful at future levels. Very impressive season though and I hope he is future all star type player.

    Sign Sano to an extension before it is too late. Need to keep this guy in a Twins uniform as long as possible.

    Horrible Trade. I would have been happier if they did nothing. Tapia is going to be really good. Hu is already really good and neither one are close to needing to be added to the 40 man. This trade just makes things worse IMO.

    Did Alex Wiel sign? I don't see anything that shows that he was signed. That is tough news about Cody. I wonder what they would have found that would have put them off like that as the Twins are typically pretty straight shooters. Hope it can work out well for everyone.

    I don't think many on here questioned his bat but many questioned his defense in an outfield that looked questionable on defense to begin with. For myself I questioned why spend 10M for just 1 year on an aging player who is not part of the future of this team? Didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I didn't mind having Hunter on the team but felt they way over paid for his services and at that time I didn't see him to be a net positive for this team. From what I understand several other teams valued Hunter highly but he chose the Twins and he has been a big part of this teams success this year. Sometimes assumptions are wrong and the ole eye test does work.
