  1. Agreed, but there’s 1,000 big league innings to pitch yet this season and the rotation is already into the 7th man on the depth chart. Prielipp, Ober, Sim are ticking time bombs… they need to keep starters stretched out. the failure to reinvest into the bullpen last August and September and the offseason is leaving such a stain on this season. now, they need to wait until there’s fewer innings in front of them.
  2. Right now Zoll is making the coffee because the Tom won’t let him hire an admin. He runs the coffee pot on the spent grounds at least twice so they don’t have to skimp on the Folgers.
  3. Agreed, there is a technique component to it. I’m just not sure it’s “110% mental” as the other poster put it. his bat speed went from 10% above average to 4% above average. Meanwhile his fast swing rate went from 3x league average to 2.2x. So his drop isn’t in the max speed, but in the frequency of it. He’s clearly adjusting his swing, he’s off, but it could be he’s compensating for something physical. Maybe it’s the ribs, maybe it’s his legs, or something else. It’s very clear that the plane of the bat is inhibiting his ability to square it up. if it was just a mental technique thing, why would his swing get flatter?
  4. Statistical averages on “prime years” are just that. Averages, some higher, some lower, some sooner some later. the fact is, he’s running slower and his bat speed is slower. we can’t say with certainty that it’s entirely a technique thing.
  5. Love seeing Larnach perform well in the big side of a platoon advantage. I don’t really buy in though. His .426 slug against righties this year is right in line with his .425. His OBP against Righties .471 (.341 career) is driven by a 23% bb rate compared to his 11.5% career and .386 BABIP against his .310 career BABIP. i just don’t see the on base as sustainable.
  6. Schlotzkys is not what it used to be, but the last time I had it was pretty good. I would say Panera has regressed further.
  7. I would put Schlotzsky’s Deli in the top 5, as well as Pita Pit. i would also accept getting hit in the nuts as a better alternative to Subway
  8. Disagree. Wallner is known to be a swing tinkerer, and the article said his swing is flatter. He’s trying to change. Typically hitters flatten their swing to speed it up and reduce Ks, sacrificing power. his Ks went up, and sacrificed power. some of this is coaching (maybe his personal hitting coach). I think he’s tinkering too much and lost his identity, or just wearing down physically younger than I would expect.
  9. You know you’ve sunk to a new level of desperation when you’re ready to reunite with Ron Davis.
  10. I feel like this is a trick question… The runs per game is declining on both sides. So, no? But also it’s a fundamental quality thing, not just a maximize strength minimize weakness. With a 13 position player roster, 9 starters, one back up catcher, leaves 3 reserves for 8 positions. You can’t platoon 7 guys
  11. I’m sure they are. you don’t see many trades that aren’t DFA related this time of year.
  12. The dozens of Twins fans at the game will have to Uber in
  13. Jeffers won’t make it to free agency as a Twin. If the extension isn’t done (not necessarily announced) by the trade deadline, he’s getting dealt.
  14. This! The problem isn’t Buck, it’s that he’s surrounded by horrible fielders. And when you have the most extreme fly ball pitching staff in the league, outfield quality matters.
  15. For some reason I can’t edit my post… and I’m a moderator… To clarify my thought, this team is one injury away from having two bullpen games per week. They still need to pitch 1100 innings this year. They need the bulk in 2026, towards the end of the season they need to convert starters to relievers for 2027 and can afford to with fewer innings in front of them. something they should have done last year…
