this is an interesting train of thought. It appears to me that this collection of misfits (outside of Bader, Buxton and Correa) have always been home run hitting, no running, can’t field, one trick ponies. it looks to me like Rocco does manage to their strengths, but so many of the anti-Rocco voices don’t like the way the players have always played.

Welcome! Vent all you want as long as it’s respectful! There are as many viewpoints about Rocco here, as there are posters. Rocco does not get to pick the roster, he doesn’t get to choose if Gasper is on the roster, but agreed!

2023 was the most innings he’d pitched since 2015, his third highest innings total season, and his single season highest WAR of his career. He didn’t repeat that in 2024. If that’s on Rocco, then Gray should be kissing Rocco’s butt for the salary boost…. I personally don’t think it is on Rocco, I think it’s on Gray

100% agreed, we don’t know what was said. We also don’t know if Ober and the training staff had a ramp up plan, or nutrition/weight gain. If Ober were injured in the 7th, every TDer would be raising pitch forks and torches with “he was sick and still ramping up, why the hell did Rocco trot him back out?” We know he was pulled after a velo dip. I have a hard time blaming a manager/training staff protecting player health, if that was the reason. Pablo is on the IL, Paddack looks cooked, Festa and Matthews are both on their way up imminently, if Ober goes down too that rotation gets real thin in a hurry with 150 games to play.

Agreed, I also highly doubt that the Twins operating deficits led to racking up $425m in debt, that has to be primarily other business ventures that the Pohlads want to offload as a function of the sale.
