  1. So if no one drafts and develops their own pitching, do these elite pitching staffs grow on trees? Does every team rely on other teams to identify the talent for them and they sign or trade for them? If everyone fails, then how is there quality disparity between teams? If everyone fails, why is scoring down and strikeouts up in mlb? There's a logic missing or some other acquisition method, but I just don't get it. When LEN says the Twins suck at drafting and developing pitchers , I buy it because the results suck compared to all of MLB. When the op says everyone else sucks too, then why do the results say otherwise? Luck? Poor free agent signing? How many free agent signees are on a typical rotation? I'll bet fewer than MN. Poor trades? You just don't see that many trades. If the conclusion is everyone drafts and develops the same, then how does everyone else get quality pitching?
  2. isnt it both? And also the developmental part. You draft a million pitchers but if they don't learn the right tools, they'll never pan out, no matter how talented
  3. and Pat Dean should have been the on the Rochester shuttle to be the stop gap. That's why you have guys like that on the 40. You don't jam a prospect in and out of the 25 man on a whim.
  4. stick a fork in Hughes. He'll still be around, but he's done. He got the Hail Mary pass of surgical procedures. Here's my depiction of the diagnosis Hughes: are you sure you didn't find anything? Dr: not a thing, you're just old Hughes: you must have found something, I'm only 30 Dr: ok, how about Thoracic Outlet Syndrome? No one can refute that Hughes: sign me up!
  5. picking nits but Nunez was DFA'd and traded to the Twins for Miguel Sulbaran. But yeah, scrap heap moves will pay off more frequently due to the low risk and shear volume of them made by comparison to bigger name trades and high end MLB free agent signings. Sample size makes all the difference over time
  6. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/twins-outright-darin-mastroianni.html 40 man spot opened up? Who gets added?
  7. according to mlbtr he's been dealing w/ a cracked rib. As long as this has been going on, August waivers might be the trade window Van beat me to it! Or great minds think alike
  8. lets not get carried away. Just cuz TR has made a couple of logical moves lately doesn't mean he'll make a third
  9. i just assumed EE was going to the DL. Too bad Jeppy took such a sharp decline. The BP is fresh now and the all star break is right around the corner, but I wonder how long til the short starts cause another reliever to be added
  10. I can't jump to the conclusion that the Twins value Nunez's defense. They value is bat, and he's been the best hitter on the team for ~75 games. If Rosario can regain his 2015 form the outfield could be a young strength very soon. If Polanco isn't going to play every day, and i don't see how you bench either Dozier or Nunez, AAA is where Polanco belongs, for the time being. If a trade can be pulled off for either Dozier or Nunez, bring up Polanco
  11. Interesting. The infielders in the outfield movement takes a turn for the traditional. Since Polanco needs all the playing time he can get, and Nunez seems pretty entrenched, there didn't look to be much time for Polano. I hope Rosario can take this opportunity and run with it.
  12. the problem with this is you won't have anyone left in AA/AAA to backfill injuries
  13. true until we get the "total system failure" line which has been in full effect for 18 years
  14. those tshirts don't just appear
  15. its very possible that Pohlad's position has changed in the last 10 weeks or 5 years
  16. dfa Jepsen or D Santana
