    that is the thing with polls... sample size matters.... good point on saves I think you can reconcile that with run differential. At plus 110 runs, they have more blow outs, fewer save opportunities.

    Qualifying a statement w/ "SSS but..." is like saying "no offense but...". Just because you said "no offense" doesn't mean you aren't offensive. Let's see if he can sustain that OPS while maintaining a 38% K rate. I'm with Brock - he doesn't have to improve much, but improvement in K-rate is a necessity or the other variables in baseball will take their toll on his peripheral stats.

    i’d look for one of each. They need two good to very good setup and closer type relievers.

    Sano’s OPS is driven by slugging that normalizes at 500 plate appearances. He’s having a great month. I hope his great month becomes 2, becomes a great season. When comparing to Ortiz’s age 26 season, it’s not fair to compare 62 plate appearances to 347. I think it’s fair to question promise of a guy who’s been injured for such significant stretches. I sill hope he can continue his stretch of recent success.

    According to the box score Berrios was lifted after giving up two runs but with at least two runners on base. Duffey let two inherited runners score. I listened for a while and indeed it was a tough slog for Berrios, but I think we do need to keep a sharp eye on those inherited runners scored. Earned runs is hiding deep flaws in this bullpen. Falvey needs to get reinforcements fast.

    I’m not sure I buy into the “leadoff hitters job is to see as many pitches as possible” narrative, but agree, a few more walks to balance the current strategy of “ambush the first pitch meatball” would really be a plus. Kepler seems more likely to develop that than Rosario, but maybe less likely than Polanco. It’s been fun watching these guys grow right in front of us like the Puckett/Hrbek group in the 80s

    Really good article. I think you may have answered why Kep’s career BABIP is low and has increased this year. Historically he hit balls mostly Right Center and Center, the deepest part of the park. Fly balls that don’t leave the park are usually outs. Now that he’s started pulling the ball more off that target field limestone and over it, he’s getting better success. Exciting to watch that young man mature. All the tools and it’s finally seemingly coming together.

    me too. I’m still waiting for hitters to figure out the cutter, but I’m way more optimistic on Perez now, than I was 2 months ago. Of course two months ago I was pretty certain Perez’s arm was going fall off.

    thanks for the reminder on my stance. He certainly looks improved since moving to the rotation, compared to his bullpen stints. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

    I can't speak for others, but personally, my bandwidth to participate in the game threads has reduced lately, especially with the earlier start to the home games. Young kids means I'm making dinner, bath and bed during the first 4-5 innings. and usually check in once or twice, but it's hard to catch up to a GT already in progress.

    2011-13 was real dark, but nothing like 1993-99 and culminating in 2001. There’s no comparison to Carl Pohlad actively campaigning to contract the team you love.

    if the outside corner is the edge of the strike zone, then Bremer’s calling is VERY “edgy”
