Our prospect summary had only six players active yesterday and they went 3 - 24 and 11 Ks. And I do not want to comment on Balazovic. Still hoping he makes it to MN this summer. I find myself less enthralled with St Paul now that I hardly know the players over there. But I still like these summaries.

Excellent article - no more dumpster dive FA. Use the talent we have. Develop it. Let the arms work. Of course the trade deadline fizzled when we should have moved a lot more players and gotten even more prospects. Unlike Baldelli, Levine, and Falvey I do not see the pieces in place to succeed. Maeda, Ober, Jax and who make up the rotation of the team for next year at this point. Let's hope some of those minor leaguers fill in the rest and show even brighter than what these three bring. Who is BP? Alcala fizzled, Duffey is too erratic and seems to have lost something, Rogers has to come back from injury and Colome and Coloumbe are an interesting name combination, but I have no faith in them Thielbar - can he keep it going? Hamilton, Moran... Who is at SS - does Martin get it for a year, does Polanco go back there? Is Lewis able to overcome two years off? Does our OF have Kepler, Larnach, Buxton? Can Buxton stay healthy? Are we stuck with Cave again? Is Rooker DH? Can he overcome his K's. Is Sano DH? Can he overcome his K's? Will Donaldson stay on the field or do we put in Miranda? Garver and Jeffers - what to do with Rortvedt? So many questions for a team that is going to rise again - quickly.

Twins Claim Edgar Garcia off Waivers
mikelink45 replied to David Youngs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I can only say - okay. As long as he is in the minors I do not mind and hopefully he will progress to the majors. -
I agree with Matthew that they cannot compete without Berrios - they would have to spend more than they wanted to pay Berrios to get a pitcher as good in FA

38 minutes to go and a lot of players I hope that they move now that they have gotten rid of Berrios. Will anything more happen? Yes to anything for Happ, surprised to get a live arm.

Twins Acquire RHP John Gant for J.A. Happ
mikelink45 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Who cares as long as Happ is gone. Gant is 23 - 21 and has 1.8 WAR over 6 seasons. Aged 28 - that is so much more than the bag of used baseballs I expected us to get.- 67 replies

Berrios Comes Full Circle

Another x-Twin to root for. If only the Twins had more reasons for us to keep rooting this year. -
José Berríos Traded to Blue Jays
mikelink45 replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I do not know prospects - all the lists mean nothing. What percent of great prospects make great MLB players. I can only wait and see, but prospects for next year have definitely taken a hit and what will we do this year? Bring up Shoemaker? The only thing that makes the rest of the season interesting is if they play our prospects. Give us a hope for the future.- 304 replies

Pull the trigger FO - if you are going to trade Berrios, get it done, or just stop the charades and walk away and finish this soap opera.

Yes - because I am trying to figure out what the highlights will be for the rest of the season. What keeps me interested after the trades are done. Kiriloff and Buxton gone, Berrios gone???

This is painful. No game report, except the minors where I had to read about Shoemaker again. With so many parts to remove and so much happening in the marker where are the Twins. We need to do more that lose Berrios - if we do!

I am not sure - I need an up to date scouting report on Gore. This quote from CBS - "Gore has been at the Padres' spring training facility in Arizona since mid-June while working on his delivery, Colin Deaver of KTSM.com reports. Gore struggled mightily through six starts for Triple-A El Paso, and after he surrendered six runs in 1.1 innings June 18, the Padres moved him to the alternate site due to blisters on his pitching hand. He's remained there even after getting over the blisters, working on refining his delivery and his arm action. There's no timeline for Gore to return to Triple-A -- much less make his major-league debut -- but general manager AJ Preller did say "we're hoping he's an option here at some point in the second half of the season," which would seem to indicate that the team is still open to bringing him up this year if he can work through his issues. Although this season has taken a bit of the shine off Gore as a prospect, fantasy managers would do well to remember that he's still just 22 years old and has plenty of time to work on his game." Does not excite me. We do not need another Lewis Thorpe.

I am wondering what the FO is thinking. We moved first with Cruz and then we have sat back and waited. As your report shows, two potential and good trade options for Donaldson and Kepler seem to have vanished. What are we waiting for? I am very worried that when, if, they move we will severely weaken the team in ways that will be hard to fix. I am not interesting in more RP dumpster diving, or signing old pitchers who might have one more good year in them. The clock on the site is a countdown, but also reminds us of how time is running out on so many levels. When a 17 - 14 loss follows the ticking of the clock (actually I am glad it does not tick).

Game Score: Tigers 17, Twins 14
mikelink45 replied to Andrew Thares's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I keep thinking - we scored 14 runs and lost! And we lost to the Detroit Tigers who are supposed to be the worst team in the division. And all we have for a diversion is a question about which good players we will trade or as we get closer will we trade? My is this season going from bad to worse to unimaginable.- 45 replies

Imagine - they score 17 against us today - the Detroit TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then we think we might have a bullpen game coming up if we trade Berrios! Our BP is so good that ought to keep the opponent under 30.- 45 replies

Game Score: Tigers 6, Twins 5
mikelink45 replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If my old memory is correct, Sano has struck out in a potential game winning, late inning game three times in this series. No wonder Astudillo is playing 1B. Who do I trust in the twins BP? Duffey most of the time, Rogers most of the time and let the starter pitch until his arm falls off all the time. -
Scouting Twins Prospects: Jose Miranda
mikelink45 replied to Lucas Seehafer PT's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Nice good news story for a bad year. He is so promising - let's hope he keeps it up. With Arraez Knee, Donaldson's calf, and Kiriloff's injury history we need him! -
Game Score: Twins 6, Tigers 5
mikelink45 replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Colome certainly demonstrated to the scouts in the stands that he is still worthless. Nice to see Rooker succeeding. He had a great year in St Paul and waited a long time to be called back up. Garver is looking amazing which means we have three potential MLB catchers on the staff (sorry WIllians - not you) and that is some trade material.- 13 replies

Letting Byron Buxton Walk Will Haunt
mikelink45 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I have nothing to add on Buxton. I can just sit back and read the rumors and anguish, just as I have watched him blossom and then get one injury after another. I keep making the Pete Reiser comparison. Pete Reiser I hope Buxton comes back and stays healthy and gives us good baseball no matter where he is. I enjoyed watching Big Papi in Boston. But the part that still gets me is Berrios. The short note on him within the article gives him a shrug like he can be sacrificed. He is the kind of pitcher that we keep wanting the Twins to sign as a FA. He is so reliable we forget how rare it is for the Twins to have a pitcher of this caliber. -
Twins Minor League Week in Review: Second Half Success
mikelink45 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Thanks for the notes and the updated prospect list. I look forward to seeing how you juggle the new players with the ones now on the list. I assume that Ober will come off soon and before the season is over so will Rooker. I am disappointed in Sabato and like Wallner better so I would love to see another take on them. So many names to keep track of. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting Seth.- 14 replies
