  1. I'm very excited that Prielipp is getting called up to the Twins. Been waiting for this day since they drafted him. Man, I feel nervous and jumpy ... and I'm not the one pitching!. But I'm sure Prielipp is thrilled and pumped up that he's getting this chance to start a game. After battling through the various injuries, plus the inning restrictions, he is finally ready to make his MLB debut. Good luck!
  2. I like those ideas. I'm not sure how realistic it will be to make them ALL happen in the near future, but a couple of those moves would be more than welcome by the time the calendar flips.
  3. Not a great start to the season for Keaschall, but I think it's way too early to panic. He's still a very young player and perhaps still working through these changes he's made recently. But as Shelton noted, he's hit at every level and always seems to make the necessary adjustments. Like everyone else, I'm hoping for a turnaround ASAP, but we'll also need a bit of patience.
  4. How does Rodríguez force himself into the Twins lineup, and at whose expense? That’s a fun discussion, but one for another day. Ha! I think you are going to get the discussion here and now! But back to the article, that was a very helpful and informative analysis of the changes that Rodriguez has made this season, ones that I wouldn't notice as an ordinary fan. Good stuff, Jamie! And yes, I hope Rodriguez will find the opportunity to impress us on the big league club sometime very soon.
  5. The extent of Abel's injury won't be clear until the team provides further updates about any imaging taken on the arm, but right away, one must worry about a long-term absence. Inflammation isn't an injury in itself; it's a symptom of fatigue and/or damage, which has some cause. Finding out the cause of the inflammation will tell us whether Abel will be out a few weeks, the rest of the season, or somewhere in between. And that sums it up for now. We just have to wait another day or two (I have no idea how long these imaging tests will take) before we can fully understand the injury. Like everyone else on this site I was very encouraged by Abel's recent starts and looking forward to a great season with him in the rotation. All we can do is wait and hope for the best. The only silver lining to any long-term injury is that it will give another pitcher a chance (Prielipp, Rojas, or even Morris or Zebby?) to make an impression. Not an ideal situation, but like others have said, every team suffers these injury setbacks too.
  6. Refreshing to see two pitching prospects called up so early in the season. Of course it may only be temporary, but it's a start!
  7. Okay, I just read the other articles that have since been posted. Seems like both pitchers are coming up. I just they actually get to pitch!
  8. Thanks for that explanation. I read both notices and was confused as to who was coming and who was going. But ... is there any chance of either pitcher actually getting into a game this week?
  9. The Mighty Mussels wrapped up their week with a dominant, well-rounded win, led by an outstanding performance on the mound. Jose Olivares set the tone with three perfect innings to start the game, striking out four. From there, Kolten Smith, Matthew DesMarets, and Eric Hammond combined to finish things off, allowing just four hits and two walks over the final six innings while striking out nine. Nice to see Olivares look very good in his rehab start. That's the way to shut down the opposing team!
  10. Rojas being called up, or is it Prielipp? Or both? I'm confused by those tweets, or whatever that stuff is being called these days.
  11. I didn't watch the game, but from seeing the box score, that was an impressive game for Ober. He hung in there, limiting the runs and hits and striking out 10 batters. Was that a mirage, or is he finding his groove again?
  12. Good point, but when it comes to the minor league games, I care more about individual performances and don't worry so much about the win-loss records of the team.
  13. A good start indeed, If he stays healthy and finds a consistent hitting stroke, very good things will happen. A good fielding shortstop in Minnesota can't come soon enough!
  14. More nonsense rumors. The Twins would be selling much too low if they traded Royce Lewis at this point, and so early in the season. These frequent injuries of his are definitely frustrating, but I'm still willing to be patient for a few more months at least.
  15. A good day on the farm, and how about all those home runs in St. Paul? That one that Lewis hit looked more like a bloop single with the way he hit it, but there must have been something extra in that swing that caused it to clear the fence, By contrast, Schobel totally crushed his home, Impressive!
  16. Well, this bullpen is going be like Mr. Toad's Wild Ride for the near future. But my biggest takeaway from this loss was the runners we left on base. Gotta get more runs across the plate.
  17. Yes, it seems like Bradley certainly has faced more adversity in the past two starts, and throwing 90-plus pitches each time. That many pitches can tire out a pitcher, but he seems to be more poised this season and less easily rattled, at least that's my very unscientific feeling.
  18. I like Shelton's approach so far too. Maybe some of the changes are subtle, but just the fact that he is giving the starters a longer leash (okay, the bullpen may not inspire much confidence yet) is nice to see. It's only mid-April, but I can't complain about much of anything that he's done, or not done.
  19. Well said. I also have high hopes for Abel. A very encouraging start this week, more than hoped for, but let's check back in June and see how he is doing. But still, I think he may be a keeper.
  20. I'll take any and all promising or under the radar arms that the Twins manage to pick up or hold onto this season. Hopefully, guys like Acton will still and produce results, but until we find some more established arms, we will need to continue trying our waiver claims and other means.
  21. Yeah, the Varland trade was the most troubling of the bunch, but I think that Roden COULD end up being a good MLB player. It may take another year or longer before the jury comes to a decision.
