  1. If the Twins moderators had been around - they would have resolved middle earth tensions before things got out of hand and there would not have had to do the whole big final battle. Many lives would have been saved and there would still be elves around. Thanks for all of your hard work.and most of your wit and jokes. You have created an environment with a lot of interesting and diverse discussions.
  2. Funny how the defensive parts of the mind works - I had completely blocked out and forgotten about Nishi.
  3. Mauer trying to find ways to move on from the snub. I suspect those girls might have him wrapped around their little fingers.
  4. He does seem to talk a lot at first base - maybe he annoys the other players. (kidding - and I have heard he actually has a sense of humor in real life). I suspect the players and coaches don't have a lot of time to watch the other players except when they are playing against them, don't study their stats from the current season, and vote more on the player's general reputation rather than who actually deserves if for the current season. I think that is why it sometimes takes a deserving player a few years to get in the running and why they often are still considered after their defense has slipped.
  5. He will just have to show them by winning the World Series MVP next year.
  6. A little bit lower than the magic number this time last year.
  7. I am pretty sure I did not at the end of April. Good thing he was not pulled earlier for the slow base-running.
  8. It is great to see so many people contributing. If Sano had gone down in June, I think his absence would have been more heavily felt. (Last year is starting to feel like it was a dream).
  9. I would say last year was probably the beginning of the improvement. I think the last six months obscured that when he tanked. I never understood why they did not DL him instead of having him try to play through an injury, esp. since the season was already lost. I was glad when they DLed him earlier this year and just gave him time to heal. True and kind of funny, since in every other aspect from what I have heard he is not exactly a controversial or polarizing guy as a person.
  10. I remember when I used to catch him on the radio, his you could really tell who he disliked by the tone of his voice. Often he would have a legitimate criticism, but for certain people there seemed to be an extra personal animus that did not exactly seem professional. I think Mauer and Perkins might fall in there, but the prime example was Kevin Slowey. I remember some really mean girl comments back in the day (some of them might have been early tweets). I know Slowey was not exactly low maintenance, but Souhan seemed to really go after him at a personal level. This next statement is pure speculation on my part and has no substantive weight. I have always wondered how accurate Souhan's assessments were when he talks about thinks like his sources say Slowey is a blight on humanity (he did not actually say that - but I think it was close). He would make it sound like that was the common consensus, but it is a big organization that is bound to have a number of opinions. I wondered if he sometimes chooses to talk to the people who he knows will give him the opinion that he wants, or most of the people, esp. players, don't really want to share too much with him, so he might not always get a well rounded view of what people think.
  11. I knew those cigarettes were going to be a gateway into other things.
  12. He did have some good training. http://www.hardballtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Don-Drysdale-Greg-Brady-Flickr-2.jpg
  13. Did Lea kiss Luke at one point? I am assuming that was before the twin connection was revealed, although with that family that would be the least of their problems when it comes to dysfunctional family relationships.
  14. I wasn't a fan of expanding the play-offs for baseball, because I did not want it to be like some other sports where almost everyone makes the play-offs (although I guess that really has not been a problem for the Wolves). That said, the second wild card spot does make it interesting for quite a few more teams and their fans in September, it does not extend the play-off season by too much, and the teams that actually win their divisions are rewarded with a better chance to remain in the play-off hunt longer.
  15. If I remember correctly we did not win our 17th win for the entire year last year until sometime in August. This year has been more fun.
  16. You actually did a pretty good job with the training (this was not from Twins After Dark).
  17. [This is one image search I would not have done from my work computer.]
  18. Save that for the sister webpage - Twins Daily after Dark.
  19. I could get used to it relatively easily.
  20. I grew up near Virginia, MN (the big town where you did your school and Christmas shopping and it had two movie theaters open on weekdays in addition to the weekend - and they had stop lights and fast food). When I was little there used to be a annual Christmas special, "Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus." I could not grasp that they were referring to a girl named Virginia and it was not about the town. Imagine my confusion later when I discovered there was an actual state called Virginia. In retrospect, I might not have had the best education.
  21. I believe it has been said he is old even in a geological or archaeological context. I believe the same thing has been said about his jokes.
  22. This is probably should be on fun with numbers - but this was an interesting tweet. I was wondering if it was my imagination that they were playing better this year - but it looks like they are. Phil Miller‏ @MillerStrib 3m3 minutes ago Twins finish off Orioles 14-7, win for 4th time in 5 games. Twins are now 12-5 on the road; on this date in 2016, they had 11 wins -- total.
