  1. You cannot completely blame him - the thread was at about ten pages by about 9 am. Kind of cool people are still so excited to talk about the Twins and their performance and play on the field, that the thread would generate that much traffic this late in the season. Especially when making the play-offs is not a sure thing this year.
  2. If we miss the play-offs by one game, we know who to blame.
  3. The game threads would be in trouble if one could not say this.
  4. So you are saying in five years we will be celebrating big time?
  5. I just thought of IRAC for the first time in years and the hairy hand case. If I have a finals dream tonight you are to blame.
  6. He just needs a good meal like 1980's cafeteria pizza and he will be touching 100 regularly. . http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UtMBepj-m1U/TvEjvN6h2mI/AAAAAAAAB94/R-8dZXf-f4Y/w1200-h630-p-nu/square_cafeteria_pizza.jpg
  7. We went off of the Arrowhead trail north of Grand Marais last weekend, so not exactly where I grew up, but still God's country. I actually grew up in a town called Babbitt about 20 miles from Ely, but I usually say the Ely area, because people are much less likely to have heard of Babbitt unless they are big fans of taconite mining of the 1970s. Funny - Ely and Babbitt were much closer than a lot of suburbs in the Cities, but if we wanted to call my grandparents in Ely, it was long distance and so was Embarrass, which was only separated from Babbitt by a dirt road.
  8. I could kind of see you taking a dare to drive your car on a frozen lake in mid to late April.
  9. I was just up there camping last weekend - I need to get back up there more often.
  10. I have been since graduating from college, but I grew up in the Ely area about 90 miles north of Duluth.
  11. Understandable https://youtu.be/i4FuPdMskeI http://s3.amazonaws.com/ftk-s3/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/22020648/Dancing-old-man.jpg
  12. We had a lot of mash-ups. In honor of our neighbors to the north we had a mash-up of Anne Murray-Bryan Adams that was really popular. People used to come down from Thunder Bay to dance to it.
  13. Damn - it is now going to be hard to get through the week with the anticipation waiting for the weekend, although I am surprised they did not schedule for the holiday weekend and close out summer with a bang.
  14. Add I've been working for the Weekend, one of Rick Springfield's songs, Let's Go Crazy and Footloose. In retrospect, I am not sure the school I went to was very cutting edge. I think my worst dance experience is once the school had a bus to a dance in another town where they were having a live band. They were so bad it was painful to listen to them, but if we left the dance area we were not allowed back into the building and would have to wait outside in the cold until the bus took us back home. There had to be some child cruelty violations in there somewhere.
  15. In some ways the film reels and film strips were better, because the teacher often would have trouble getting things lined up or they would have to fix something midway through, so it extended the movie time. Plus you got the added bonus of the sound not always matching the picture. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Gg1YGlIIdGE/TrC4mykIhrI/AAAAAAAAAag/FH6yA_3Jbuc/s400/Picture%2B24.png
  16. This line of posts might actually send me to check out the volley ball thread for awhile...
  17. That might be an ish. A Mauer - Ty Cobb conversation might have been interesting to listen to -- I think their personality types were slightly different (besides one being alive and one not)..
  18. Weren't they were known as Persia and Mesopotamia when you were there?
  19. I just noticed Dinger has a rap name. I am guessing his style is a cross between Falco and MC Hammer.
  20. This might be the ultimate quintessential game thread response.
  21. It involves TC Bear, Tim Laudner, and something that happened outside First Avenue. I believe there is a gag order as part of the settlement agreement, so we might never know what really happened.
  22. Is this your closest companion? http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/02/05/2561442500000578-2941985-image-m-15_1423180203481.jpg
  23. If we do trade Dozier - he might be an option. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-T6wk71Q8R6k/UDrvzUL3API/AAAAAAAAKuU/CiYycdlLAgU/s1600/1982FleerTonyMicelli.jpg
