  1. Since he has not been worth his salary for two years I would think he'd see he owes it to the fans to waive that clause.
  2. In 22 Correa played well enough to get into the All Star game then went into a long slump, only becoming productive in Septemeber after the Twins were out of contention and he was looking to sign a big deal with another team. In 23 he played good defense with his PF but the hitting was awful to sometimes mediocre. His specialty was hitting into double plays. In 24 he sometimes had clutch hits and sometimes breathtaking defense but nothing $33,000,000 worth. The talk of the "leadership" he provides I question. "He is critical to any legitimate hopes of World Series contention in 2025" That's not going to happen with the players they have now. If owners are going to continue to be stingy they will need some money to get some players. LET HIM GO. He is not a "Value Added" player.
  3. What is the story with no Twins broadcast tonight?
  4. They won't. They have to try to justify their expense. I gave up on Buxton last year. I would be thrilled to see him have a season like 22 shortened as it was. But I'm not looking for it. I look at Buxton mostly with dread because if he can't play CF you know they will keep him at DH. They can't admit their mistake. It's nice to think about the guy that hit the game winning HR in the All Star game. But I just can't go there. If I'm wrong then that's great.
  5. I'm not buying that Plantar Fasciitis was the big reason Correa hit so poorly in 23. PF wasn't mentioned until well into the season. I've had PF and it can be brutal but if he could play excellent shortstop all year he could have hit better than he did. In 22 he really didn't hit that great until the Twins were out of competition, then he poured it on. The only thing he accomplished was getting a huge salary that very few could ever deserve. My theory is that many players that get huge salaries try too hard to live up to the salary. The harder they try the worse they do. You can throw a lot of stats around but what I place more stock in is this... When a batter comes to the plate in a clutch situation and you always groan that says more about the player than anything to me. Correa will hopefully contribute more in 24 but he will never be worth 33,000,000 x 6.
  6. Always or almost always swinging for a home run will produce a lot of strike outs. That may win games against sub par teams and against the best teams, like Houston, when they falter during the season but against the best teams in post season, like Houston, who seem to pull it together when they need to, the Twins will be the loser. The Twins are not in the same league (no pun) as the best teams and never well be as long as the FO approves this approach. Maybe a little Cleveland and and little (or lot) Minnesota would do it. But I don't think we are headed there.
  7. The Twins may be in a position to be a weak first place contender into the future but until they can score runs without relying on home runs they will be a perpetual post season loser.
  8. I've enjoyed having Buxton out of the lineup and when Gallo was out even better. I'd love to see Buxton field and hit like he did last year but there is no reason to think he is at even 20% of the level he played last year. You have to go with who got you here. Buxton wasn't a part of that. Although, maybe having him in the dugout might bring good energy to his teammates but there is no way he can field and I don't want to see him bat. What role does he play? Pinch runner?
  9. The plantar fascia actually isn't a ligament, it's an aponeurosis which is a think band of tissue that takes the place and functionality of tendons which are thin and would tear easially on the bottom of the feet. Plantar Fasciitis is inflammatory in nature and really hard to recover from if you are pounding your feet every day. Hopefully a winter of rest will help. And hopefully they have him using the right arch support which distributes the weight across the entire bottom of the foot instead of most of it on the heel where most of the pain is. He may be running a little slower but is fielding well so he apparently can play with pain. I wouldn't think it would effect hitting as much but wouldn't know.
  10. If he can get just a few more he'll have one DP for each $1,000,000 of salary. Yes I'm one of those fans that doesn't think he's worth $300,000,000. No one is except maybe Ohtani when he's not injured. I was sorry to see him go last year but thought it was best given his asking price. He was good last year but not consistently good. He didn't really turn it on until September when the Twins were completely out of the race. Didn't help the Twins but did get him a bigger salary later. I think his main problem this year is putting pressure on himself to show he is worth the price. It can't be done. Other than his consistent, excellent fielding he's not that good. He was hitting poorly long before Plantar Fasciitis became a factor. The contract is already signed. I just wish he would focus on hitting and fielding and not being a "team leader".
  11. Sometimes it's better Bored, No Game than a Bored Game (like 0-6 loss against Detroit). Can't lose any ground tonight.
  12. Twins are more likely to win 2 of 4 with Texas and lose 4 of 5 with Detroit and Cleveland.
  13. FO for thinking Correa was worth $33,000,000. Correa for thinking he was was worth $33,000,000. Correa for apparently putting pressure on himself to be a "team leader" and worthy of $33,000,000 instead of just trying to be a hitter and fielder. You'd think he'd have figured it out by now he's not going to live up to the price tag.
  14. AND QUOTE 2 He has had 3 clunkers in 40 appearances (43.1IP). In the other 37 he has given up a total of 4 ER. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My head says one thing, my gut says another.
  15. I did not know this. I did it and it worked in less than 5 min. Thanks so much.
  16. I was sorry to see Correa go after last year but was against the Twins paying his demanded price. No one is worth $33,000,000. When they did re-sign him I was hopeful but skeptical. It takes a very special person to not let mental pressure get in the way of the expectations that EVERYONE has on a player in that situation. The higher the salary and longer the contract the more the pressure. Maybe Correa is not that special (and rare) person.
  17. A lot of comments that Buxton's medical status is not the fans business. If there was something of a personal nature effecting is work that would be one thing but since they're trying to play him every day that doesn't seem likely. Teams usually give specific reports on medical status. The fact that the organization has given so much confusing info doesn't make sense. I would think it would be in their best interest to be up front with what's actually going on. A player with a $15,000,000 contract is going to get a lot more fan scrutiny than someone making a lot less. Maybe they afraid to admit they made a big mistake in extending him?
