  1. ...as potential interim replacements include Jayce Tingler, who has considerable managerial experience, as well as Hank Conger and Tommy Watkins, who lack that experience but are very well liked. I'm not sure another "well liked" manager would be the best idea. ...series against the lowly White Sox and Angels, who were the two worst teams in the American League last year... When you play like you don't care I don't think that will matter.
  2. Hope so because I don't think Correa is going to be.
  3. Not worth what is is paid. Two teams were going to sign him then backed out after physical. I guess they were smarter than the Twins. With this latest injury my long shot dream of him agreeing to a trade are dashed. Who would want him, especially at that price.
  4. Since they are attempting to put a team together from random pieces does that make him The Bride Of Frankenstein ?
  5. "Big-league managers have relatively little control over events that occur in games." Managers can't will events on the field but they set the tone. It's clear that Baldelli does not have the respect of his players even though they apparently like his laid back style, or rather is detachment from the team. He should not be there. We don't know the degree to which the FO pulls his strings but either way the combination of the two clearly has not known how to manage players, especially new players from the minors. This is one of those area with strong opinions both ways. Managers have little impact or managers set the tone and are ultimately responsible for what happens of the field. I'm in the later camp. In our current situation the entire organization has been a miserable failure. There is talent there but the organization doesn't know how to nurture it. Everyone, manager to FO, needs to go. With all the injuries right now there is greatly reduced chance of getting it together and winning. Why delay until the end of the season? Unfortunately Falvey would never fire the manager as that would be an admission of his failure. That would leave it to the owners. Do they even care at this point? Does the drop off in attendance mean anything to them? Is there any chance of selling the team at this point?
  6. Hamate. Since it has "Ham" in it probably.
  7. Twins certainly are hamstrung.
  8. I don't even like to see a Baldelli closeup in the dugout but made myself listen to his post game interview. My brain glazed over. It's like he's not even there. It's like he doesn't have a strong connection to what is happening with the team.
  9. This is like a bad car accident. I decided to watch something else but then I just can't not look.
  10. Even without him the Twins still Blewett big time.
  11. $15,000,000. Doing what he does best.
  12. If they use a blanket response wouldn't they be warm?
  13. Miranda became one of my favorites in 22. He had a very good rookie year. In particular I remember that the Twins prima donnas stars, Correa and Buxton, went into a slump after the All Star game and most of the team followed. Miranda was the one that kept getting clutch hits at least until September. After that he's thrived some but struggled mostly. I hate to see him go but can't argue with the move. I wouldn't count him out completely. Who knows.
  14. I like Morneau because he is sincere and thoughtful. Provus is great. I would think it's in their contracts that they not speak ill of the players, manager, FO, Owners, etc. I don't think they have a choice.
  15. Is he capable of getting vocal? He can blow up at an umpire but otherwise it's hard to tell if he's even breathing. Set aside his managerial decisions. If the manager acts like he doesn't care it's bound to rub off on the players.
  16. Is there any real chance Baldelli will get fired soon? It would seem doing so would be an admission of failure by the FO. Would the owners step in and make that decision? Do they even care what's going on? He can't be gone too soon for me.
  17. Coulombe is a good name for a relief pitcher. Blewett isn't.
  18. Everyone has to be good at something. Correa is good at two, Striking out and hitting into double plays. A real leader.
  19. In my fantasies Correa agrees to be sent to St Paul, another team picks him up on waivers, along with his salary. Lee takes his place and is allowed plenty of time to make it or break it. Can't be worse than what we have now. Maybe on defense but it would be nice to try. I can dream.
