  1. You're telling me, that this organization notorious for not developing their own starters, has yet again transformed a "once promising" starter into a middle reliever? I for one am shocked!
  2. There is no way the Cleveland finishes behind the twinz I'm afraid. They always find a way to out perform projections and what is supposed to happen from an analytics perspective.
  3. And this is the bummer of it all. I like that Falvine updated some things in the organization, but they were too much the polar opposite of Terry Ryan. The key is the split the difference and I don't think these guy's are it.
  4. If the twins finish fourth it will only be because the white sox young talent hasn't developed as much as they are hoping they have in the South side. Third place or higher will be quite unlikely unless Shelton is a magician.
  5. "the Twins did indeed rank first in the American League in fWAR at the position."......"They ranked fourth in FIP but 23rd in ERA and 25th in WPA." This is my biggest gripe with fWAR. They base wins above replacement on what "should" happen vs the actual results on the field. Also, many fans very much doubted the "Best Bullpen in Baseball" narrative pushed heavily on this site. I half expected another article touting this years crop of relievers, but alas, with the new front office there are no relationships formed and can thus be more honest.
  6. I wish the article would've touched on other similar promising rookies in recent years such as Miranda and Julien. Given our propensity of failing young hitters, I'm afraid that the chances of Keaschall's developing how we would like him to seem to be small.
  7. Agree 100%. Wallner (and Gallo before him) are excellent examples on how skewed OPS+ can be for boom or bust hitters. It gives way too much weight to XBHs, and subsequently it tricks stats like WAR into thinking that these players are more valuable than they are.
  8. This is the thing that would bring my money back tbh. I have no hope with them developing any talent they may have, much less identifying talent. This is the most unfortunate by product of no sale from the pohlads.
  9. How sure are we that this wasn't a Rand Ball piece accidentally published by a different author's name?
  10. "Under Derek Falvey, Minnesota already operates like Milwaukee in notable ways. For example, Minnesota, like Milwaukee, has grown a knack for drafting college pitchers from small schools and adding more velocity to their arsenal to make everything pop" Yeah, except that instead of turning those pitchers into burned out starters turned middle relievers or flamed out from injuries, they will occasionally develop actual starting pitchers. And not just starting level pitching, legit ace starters which we haven't seen in way too long.
  11. "Right-handed Luis Arraez"?! Hold on a second. For years since the trade we've been told (so often that most of the commentors bizarrely believe it) that Arraez is all empty stats and doesn't contribute to winning. I'm old enough to remember the authors here messing in their jeans stating that Julien was going to be so much more valuable. If Keaschall ends up being Luis Arraez I'll be ecstatic; however I'm afraid most everyone on here has been led to believe that type of player is not valuable.
  12. I really hope they don't focus on increasing spin rates and getting an extra little bit of velo on his pitches. As mentioned in the article his natural "stuff" is more than good enough and imo has borderline ace potential. As cynical as I am this was their best trade IF they are able to improve his control (though as mentioned in the article, it seems our coaching staff seems more intent on improving velo and not command),
  13. This is precisely why I didn't love beating the Blue Jays that year. I knew we were so far from competing against the actual good teams, but winning one 3-game series delayed the strip down by a year and a half.
  14. I don't feel as bad for the writer's cramping as I do for the tap-dancing most of the writers will have to do. Most of them were touting "bESt bULlpen in baseBAll" and "the pitching pipeline is strong" amongst many other falsehoods. The cardio they're going to get will be unbearable for all but the most cynical.
  15. This is so good. Real teams and organizations do this all the time. Our "young" players are typically 25, 26, 27 whereas in other organizations players those ages are seasoned vets.
  16. I don't think that the trade itself would damage the reputation any further. Statements like this that pop up too often do though: "These facilities here, all the coaching staff, nutritionists, the kitchen — it’s amazing what they have compared to what we had over at the Twins." - Paddack
  17. Bro, don't give up on Eddie Julien bro. He's just a bit selective please bro. Just look at his expected stats, he's can't miss bro. -Twins daily 1 year ago
  18. I agree completely. I'm at the point now to where I hope my favorite players get traded to a competent franchise.
  19. In a word: "yes". The only sustainable part of our "pipeline" was turning "elite" minor league arms into serviceable middle relievers. For Pablo we snaked from the Marlins, for Ryan we somehow robbed the Rays, other than that we've had nothing to hang our hat on. It's disheartening seeing the Brew Crew have a guy like Misiorowski come up through their ranks, when we have this vaunted pitching pipeline that's been sold to us for years. And any commenters stating the obvious that it's not impressive are quickly thumbs'ed down.
  20. "Raises Doubts about Their Staying Power". My brother, anyone who's watched this team knew they had no staying power, except those who thought the win streak was truly who the team is.
  21. "Haha take that haterz!! The twins just dominated very real MLB ball clubs to turn around their slow start. THe haterz were blinded by their hate of the Favline/Rocco philosophies that the SMART people here at twinsdaily love! Dominating the Angels/ChiSox means that we are for sure contenderz." -Abridged quotes from most people onthis site last year.
  22. Your tweet is dead on. Anyone paying attention last year would've noticed that if it wasn't for an early 9-game stretch against the Chisox and Angels, the start of the season would have looked way different.
