  1. I'd bring him up and lose Margot. There will need to be another move made when Royce Lewis is ready. Then they have to figure out which hitter isn't making enough progress to stay on the big league roster. But we need a better choice in CF when Buxton isn't out there.
  2. I think our top 4 starters can have that level of trust. Not for SWR and not when they have an off day following.
  3. Professionals across all organizations need to get together and talk things over; regardless of their pay.
  4. "But other than that Mrs. Lincoln, did you enjoy the play"? (I agree with your assessment)
  5. I'd like to see Margot exit the team and bring back Wallner. And I agree that Martin should be sent down when Buxton is back.
  6. I think Miranda and Larnach are two of the best stories to the season thus far. Wallner appears to be finding his game at SP and then our outfield depth will be even better.
  7. Hopefully we get a healthy Buxton back this week and the Margot experiment can come to a close. Regarding the relief pitchers, obviously Brock Stewart is needed. I am hopeful that Staumont will be a solid contributor going forward. I don't trust Jackson or Sands.
  8. Looks like a guy we should continue following. Festa had his best outing yesterday. We are going to need another starter, or 2 this season.
  9. I've been wondering the same and prefer to see Varland in late inning relief roles. Unfortunately, I think the answer is that we still need depth in starting pitching. Our 5 are going great, but we all know that injuries, or regression will demonstrate that another starter is needed. Right now, that's Varland.
  10. It will be interesting to see what the Twins do when Buxton comes back. I hope Margot becomes a roster casualty.
  11. I believe the "Sands of time" are turning against him. With Brock Stewart on the DL, they need to be more creative with the late inning pitchers...and I don't think that should include Sands.
  12. I agree with your comments. I would add that there is a saying from my business days that "the fish rots at the head". And by that I mean the Pohlads. I know that their revenue was certain to go down this year; however, they did not get it done in finding a new way to keep our games on TV. They have to own that. Additionally, it's not like the Pohlads are poor. With the Twins wide open performance window, they should have dug into their savings and kept the team salary at last year's level.
  13. I don't think I understand your comment that Julien is stuck on 2nd. That's where he belongs, his fielding has improved and Polanco is on the downside of his career.
  14. I'm right there with you. I've been negative about Santana and he is heating up! Mea Culpa
  15. I agree. I also see it as "addition by subtraction". Polanco could only play 2nd base and that needs to be Julien. I would not bet on Jorge returning to previous performance levels. He appears to be on the downside of his career with diminishing returns.
  16. Should the Twins move Duran to a starting pitcher role? No. Stated differently, NO. Put another way; Heck NO!
  17. Well said. I usually don't actively dislike players (unless they are Yankees); however, I despise Sano for wasting the Twins time, effort and money while squandering the talents he was given. It all feel apart when he had to work for it. I would not be surprised to see him fall back to his lazy ways.
  18. This has already been decided, but Varland can't have a sniff of the majors until he has had several successful starts with St. Paul.
  19. I get the revenue model is flawed as evidenced by the numerous teams that shrank their payroll. And I think you are correct about DeScalfini as a throw in. I like the trade. Polanco was, at best, an average fielding 2nd baseman with a diminished ability to stay on the field. But this reinforces my beef with Falvine. They did virtually nothing to replace the lost starters. Our starting depth is in the minors and not quite ready (except SWR we hope). Mid rotation starter(s) ought to have been the goal. None of the new relievers have had a significant impact on the team. Our best relievers are from last years team.
  20. Sorry, but I respectfully disagree. Ownership knew a new TV deal was needed and didn't get it done until VERY late...and it's not a new deal. The appears to have lead to cutting payroll. Management made the decision to get a deeper bullpen and not acquire much for our departing starting pitchers. This was a gigantic mistake. The best relievers on the Twins thus far are all holdovers from last year. They acquire DeScalfini as a possible 5th starter (I still favor that trade) but he was probably no more than a 50/50 proposition to come back from his injury plagued season. And that left Varland who has not shown he is a starter and would have made a nice reliever. Consequently, my opinion is the front office should have targeted one or two middle rotation starters either via free agency or trade. And let's not even discuss how awful the decision was to sign Santana when we could have had Solano back. Ownership and Falvine are the primary blame; and no it's not too soon to judge. I remain hopeful that the Twins will turn it around with players returning from injury. However, the injuries do not explain the off season blunders.
  21. The Sano play made me sick. He was so terrible and uncommitted with the Twins. Now he has lost all that weight and looks like a baseball player again. I wonder why the Twins couldn't get Sano to commit to his craft.
  22. I think Farmer struck out 3 times yesterday...so that didn't work out. Nothing has worked out for Farmer thus far. So weird after being a key player last season.
