You are 100% correct about the Twins not being the only team suffering injury losses. The Brewers, for example, lost their 2 best starters before the season started (Corbin Burnes to Baltimore and Brandon Woodruff to season ending surgery). The best closer in the NL, Devin Williams, wasn't able to pitch until the end of July following surgery during spring training, and they have lost their most valuable player in Christian Yelich about a month ago to season ending surgery. Oh yeah, and they have a 1st year manager. Most non-Brewer fans would be hard pressed to name a single Brewer player. And they lead their division by 9 games and are 20 games over .500.

Seems like Festa would be an ideal piggyback starter. Go 2 or 3 innings and bring in the real "starter."

Buxton was much more fun to watch while in the minors at Chattanooga when he hit the ball allover the field and used his speed. Since he has pretty much become an all or nothing hitter (similar to what Sano became) he is not using his natural talents. His strikeout % should be about 1/2 of what it is.

This might be a dumb idea but what about controlling both Paddock's and Festa's innings by piggy backing the two

Agree that the state of Minnesota is in need of a championship but doubt it will come the Twins this year. In a huge series vs the Guardians last weekend the Twins started a lineup with 4 players batting .205 and lower as well as 5 players with OBP under .300. It resulted in an 11-4 loss.

Yankees 4, Twins 0: Pablo Day Empty
Larry Janisewski replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If I didn't know better I'd have thought the Yankees rolled out Cy Young, Nolan Ryan, and Christy Mathewson against the Twins this series. The Twins have had 7 hits and 1 run; 4 hits and 0 runs, and 3 hits and 0 runs today through 6 innings. Twins are making the Yankee pitchers all look like Cy Young candidates. At least Twins aren't striking out as much as they had earlier in the year, The Twins pitching hasn't been super but not as as the offense.- 42 replies

When your team batting average is .184 as it was going into the Baltimore series a .267 average is spectacular.

100% correct: put the ball in play. Spend the money on a hitting coach who will be able to work with the individuals and provide an accurate scouting report on what to expect from each pitcher. Most at bats the hitters look clueless swinging at most pitches below the zone. When the team is starting 2 players with batting averages over .235 there is a problem.

Larry Janisewski replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
In the last 2 games vs Cleveland they have had a total of: Hits: 9 Runs: 3 K's: 29 LOB: 49 You can's score if you don't put the ball in play. Twins have started 2 players each day with a batting average of over .235.- 28 replies

What Defines Success for Byron Buxton in 2024?
Larry Janisewski replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree about rebuilding his swing and get him away form the all or nothing approach we saw last year. He needs to build on his assets or speed and quickness. He has to get away from the Sano-like swing and miss. He should hit in the .275 range or higher. He struck out way to many times last year. -
Week in Review: Wrapping Up and Moving On
Larry Janisewski replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Agree. Over the last couple of weeks he has taken some all or nothing type swings and has finished very off balanced and over twisting his ankles and entire body. The announcers have commented about it also. -
Uecker on base twice in one game??? Didn't happen often. lol. He is an awesome baseball announcer/comedian.
