  1. Great question. Headrick has been impressive so far, that's for sure. But, for now, it's Rodriguez's turn to keep or lose a bullpen job, so it is premature to bring back Headrick until he or someone else proves to no longer belong on the 26 man roster.
  2. Ugh, just now checking in on the game for the first time to see how things are going. What a dreadful line-up. Two converted infielders playing outfield who both are actually hitting like pitchers. I haven't even read any previous comments, so I suppose that I am late to the party with this complaint. Great starting pitchers and Duran are the only things keeping this team competitive.
  3. Okay, I'll bite on the Brad Peacock reference. After finishing a competitive year at AAA with Omaha and the Saints in 2022, whatever happened to him this season? Retired? Unsigned free agent? International ball?
  4. Looks like a big return to the majors for a Littell guy: Red Sox Acquire Zack Littell From Rangers - MLB Trade Rumors
  5. Gary Sanchez is now moving on after not being added to the 40 man roster for the Giants: Former despised Yankee opts out with new team not wanting him (msn.com)
  6. Billy, don't be a hero against the Twins this series: White Sox To Select Billy Hamilton - MLB Trade Rumors Actually, the same could be said for Alex Colome also just added to the roster!
  7. Rookie couldn't even finish one game due to an injury. Nobody feels sorry for the Yankees, but I bet that they will be motivated to find someone outside of their own organization and the Twins may just be the right partner: Yankees' Jake Bauers makes incredible catch vs Rangers but suffers injury (msn.com)
  8. Wow, you pretty well nailed it. Only thing to add is that it is refreshing to have our catchers be so solidly dependable that they are excluded from the discussion. Yeah, KC stole some bases but who cares if you can still beat them three out of four games in spite of that. Nicely done!
  9. Yeah, hard to find fault with this move, sure seems like the right time to move on.
  10. So far the Yankees have sure looked like a team in desperate need of an outfielder, although more so in LF than RF. But, for now, they are pinning their hopes on a rookie to be ready to make his mark. If that doesn't pan out by this time at the end of the month of May, I think they would welcome Kepler in exchange for a not-yet-MLB-ready starting pitching prospect (If they have one) in advance of the deadline.
  11. Good for Brent Rooker, but he wasn't traded from us to the A's, right? The Padres not only gave up on the two that we received, they also gave up on the two guys that they got. Yes, Paddack has been injured and Pagan is unreliable, but their existence still on our roster shows some measure of value in favor of the Twins on this trade. Rooker was likeable, but his current achievements were hard to envision. Apparently we must have had one too many oufielders in the opinion of the FO. Just look at how brilliant the play was from Cave, Contreras, Celestino.....oh never mind. I guess it really would have been nice to still have him! Good observation on the K rate. That most certainly is a dramatic contrast. Hope for all continued success for him against every team but the Twins!
  12. Yeah, this is an odd time for an issue to happen. Spring training is usually when this is most likely to occur. Perhaps he was approved on a conditional basis based on compliance with a requirement of some kind?
  13. The unasked question here is who do the Twins drop to get Kirilloff on the 26 man roster? Castro is the easiest answer to that question. It appears that they are committed to Gordon and Solano in the infield, at least until Farmer returns. Do they finally give up on Kepler instead? He as actually right now hitting at above career averages, and still playing elite defense. This would not seem to be good timing for this move. So, let's send Castro packing and give Kirilloff the chance to goose up our offense instead of the offense of the AAA team. Service time considerations are a sad reason to not make the right move. But, I suppose ultimately baseball a business with business choices to consider. Sigh.
  14. 04/27/23 Minnesota Twins optioned LHP Brent Headrick to St. Paul Saints. No replacement identified yet.
  15. According to the radio broadcast, Maeda has left the field now with a trainer at his side for 3 of his 4 starts. Sounds to me like more of a candidate for the IL rather than the bullpen? But yes, the month-log Maeda experiment needs to come to an end in favor of Ober.
  16. Impressive win against Jim Kaat's favorite rhyming Nestor! Looking forward to Maeda's best effort so far this year so maybe the Twins can add "series sweep" on top of season win honors against this opponent in 2023.
  17. Great analysis. It is certainly easy to have concerns with the results so far, but if I recall correctly he was off to a slow start last year, turned things around after his "return" and then cooled off the last month. The defensive improvement is encouraging. However I would be curious to see what his offensive splits were for June-August versus Apri-May and September combined so far. There is certainly no indication in his minor league career that he is a cold weather underachiever, but it would be interesting to see the comparison.
  18. The sad state of affairs continues to deepen for Aaron Hicks: Aaron Hicks has officially been surpassed by unlikeliest Yankee (msn.com)
  19. Hey, whatsa Motter with Taylor? It looksa like he's a gonna be home-a-lessa again: Cardinals Activate Paul DeJong, DFA Taylor Motter - MLB Trade Rumors
  20. Josh Donaldson's return date has been deferred a few more weeks: Josh Donaldson Likely To Miss Multiple Weeks With Hamstring Strain - MLB Trade Rumors
  21. I think that it is interesting that Headrick has survived! Polanco has not exactly been killing it on his "rehab" stops......hopefully a week from now that will be totally irrelevant.
  22. Looks like Trevor Hildenberger may have reached the end of the line: SF Giants release former Mets and Twins reliever (msn.com)
  23. Good news for Hendricks: Liam Hendriks Announces He Is Cancer Free - MLB Trade Rumors
  24. You know, I agree with this. But, it has been said that part of the reason that Maeda was dealt to the Twins was because he was unhappy being in the bullpen. I think that they had to start the season with him as a starter just so he could prove to everyone whether he belonged there or not. Everybody's whipping boy Pagan is off to a good start, albeit in a limited role, and Moran appears to be the one falling short of expectations. We may have to sit through one more Maeda start, but for now I like this suggestion once that "one more start" finally proves to Maeda the limitations of his value to the team..
