  1. They gave up stewart who pitched once and was out for the year. Outman has created more outs than i would like but I believe there is some defensive benefit with our other outfielders. Hard to call it the worst trade.
  2. It's not going to be the same Duran. I bet he averages 95-96 (which is still fast) as a starter. In the minors he was a starter and his ERA was 4.7 in majors as a closer his ERA is 3.15.
  3. A dominant closer, you would want to convert to Starter so the Topa, Sands and Cabrerras of the world could be the closer?
  4. They have struggled to develop position players. Pitching however they have done very well. Zebby, SWR, Festa, Ohl, Adams. The List goes on. The key will be getting them into the right positions, ie. Starting or pen
  5. Why not Gonzalez, if he crushed lefties, have Cody out there against Righties.
  6. I would say no. Attendance is already going to take a hit unless they do spend. Gotta go with what they have right now. I do believe they can compete.
  7. I wouldn't say Sands is a no brainer. He has been bad every year except for last year. I think Clemens and Lewis are no brainers as well. I do question Larnach, may not get much but something is better than nothing.
  8. Those two are most likely to be corner outfielders for at least one year, to get their feet wet.
  9. My comment was meant for the overall team not just the starters. I understand health issues but many times he has snatched defeat out of the grasps of a win because he takes a starter out. Guys like Alex Cora or AJ Hinch consistently make good decisions, now maybe they are finding new ways to cheat. I don't know.
  10. This maybe off the wall, I like him as a starter but I do think Matthews has the stuff and mentality to be the closer. SWR is a soft thrower so he could be pen. There are so many pieces the problem is Rocco has not shown that he can put them in the right position yet.
  11. OK there are a few flaws to your comment. 1. Saying they lack middle of the lineup power then naming Wallner (20 HR) Clemens (14 HR) and Royce (9 HR) is flawed logic. Now you could talk about the average and Wallner could be discussed. These three have those numbers in around 80 games. If you could double that what happens and Royce you can tell has been fighting things after the injury. I would like to see if he could stay healthy and bounce back. 2. Adding an experienced closer? Joe Nathan, Glen Perkins, Johan Duran. Were any of them experienced? I will agree that they need to find someone but maybe that guy is one of Prielipp, Raya, Adams, Abel, Matthews
  12. If they want to lose ALL the fans then by all means trade them both. Could I see one of them yes, but I hope not. I do believe they can compete next year if they keep the rotation intact. If they trade one of them it would be tough, both, there is 0 chance. They honestly just need to figure out the bullpen and I think Prielipp and Raya could factor in. Starters Ryan, Lopez, Ober, Matthews, and (one of SWR, Festa, Bradley, Abel) Pen Sands, Funderburk (maybe), Prielipp, Raya, Adams, Ohl,
  13. I wonder if he hits the next week or so if he is called up this year yet.
  14. Ober didn't all of a sudden forget how to pitch. He will not have a short leash. He has proven when healthy he is a potential ace.
  15. Keaschall, Julien, Clemens, Lewis, Lee, Miranda, Gasper, Martin (to an extent). I get that Lee and Culpepper are the SS depth but there are a lot more pieces. I don't think Lee is going anywhere so he could shift to 2B or 3B as you say which means Lewis, Keaschall, and Julien need to be moved around. I just don't see it happening unless someone is moved or injured. It's a very good problem to have. Jenkins is the same situation, Buxton, Larnach, Wallner, E. Rod, Roden, Outman, Fedko, Gonzalez McCusker all potentially ahead of him
  16. I think Culpepper will be late next year if at all. He is doing very well at AA but has not reached AAA. There are too many in front of him yet. *That could change if they trade a guy or two (Julien, Miranda) in the offseason.
  17. Astros ate the majority of the contract. It would have been a better prospect if the Twins paid the majority. I am not taking away from the player we got he might end up being a very good player for Twins.
  18. I would really hope the Twins don't trade with the reds for a guy who died in 2003 at the age of 83. I am sure Hector was good but feel like it would be a one-sided trade.
  19. They only people that discussed Jax as a starter were the people at Twins Daily. Jax is were they want him and that isn't changing. They have guys at AAA that they would bring up if they sell off any starters.
  20. I wouldn't make that statement. That being said, how they handle the Pablo injury will determine what happens. Eeles can hit and if they fall out of it I could see them trading Willi which would give him a spot. What is with all the Lefty hitters though!?!
