  1. Again, get Gallo totally healthy before bringing him back. Then, play him in the OF and Kirilloff at 1B which gives the Twins their best defense.
  2. The discussion was about Wichita and St. Paul and I think our prospects are hitting quite well - Wallner batting .300 with a .955 OPS, Julien .293 and .931 and Severino hitting .276 with a .888 OPS as a few examples. The biggest reason the Saints are winning is because they have tremendous hitting. led by some of our top prospects. Look at June or the past month and their numbers are even better. If you are talking about high A ball, Seth has mentioned that we have one of the youngest high A ball teams in baseball. Some are doing better than others. Emma Rodriguez below the Mendoza line but does have 7 homers while missing half the season.
  3. 2 HR's, 24 rbi's, .712 OPS compared to Farmer's 3 HR's, 14 rbi's, .668 OPS. Farmer has much more position flexibility (and missed time getting hit in the face). I'll take Farmer.
  4. Tough day for a bunch of hitters who have been hot this week other than Wichita. Keirsey probably deserves to be a July call up (2nd full year at Wichita) to St. Paul but with Gallo and Buxton coming back for the Twins and Celestino rehabbing, that is going to be a full OF, not to mention Contreras out there.
  5. Agreed. I will give Tommy Watkins some credit for much improved judgment on when to send and not send runners home from third base. At least that is my impression when listening.
  6. Julien certainly has some Arraez in him, way more than any other Twin.
  7. Rough hitting strategy today - fastball down the middle, let it go (except for Julien) and changeup in the dirt, swing.
  8. He was free to sign with anyone this winter. I'm glad the Twins got him back. If Camargo keeps this up, I say he's on the 40 man roster this winter.
  9. Yes! Raya went 4 innings and broke his 3 inning ceiling. Good innings as well but not as good as MacLeod. Certainly nice to see that. Our hot hitters are having a great week - Wallner, Miranda, Camargo, Keirsey, Lee, Severino and De Andrade. (some with only one hit today but it continues their hitting streak). Tough week to pick who is the best.
  10. I believe the catcher never gave him a path to home before he received the ball so he would have been safe anyway.
  11. I love Polanco but the wear and tear of playing every day for many years is going to continue to see him on and off the IL. They should have traded him at his peak last summer (which is what Tampa does, trade players just before their performance or health starts going down). Most people on TD disagreed with me. I can see why as he is such a great player when healthy, gives an A+ effort every game and is on the field if at all possible. Even at 2B, he looks like a shell of himself (still better out there on D than Julien though). As for Kepler, time to move on.
  12. The hot hitters in St. Paul and Wichita all stayed hot - Wallner, Miranda, Julien and Camargo in St. Paul and Kiersey, Lee and Severino in Wichita. For Camargo, I was surprised we got him back this past winter after he was a free agent. Not sure we will have the same luck if we do the same this winter (or if we bring him up to the Twins to cover an injury and then try to DFA him). Grace and Lewis moving up a level and still pitching great. Good to see.
  13. Polanco may be going on the IL for the third time (or so it sounded from the radio announcers today), so 2nd base. Otherwise, DH with Buxton on the IL. And I'm an advocate for getting Buxton healthy and playing CF, leaving DH open for a bat like Julien.
  14. Wallner and Julien for now. Later I think Miranda will be ready. He's got 5 multi-hit games in his last 8. Just needs to add that home run power back now. We aren't replacing everyone right away anyway. Wallner and Julien are NOT going to reduce our SO's. I'm just thinking they will do better everywhere else. Can hardly do worse than the current Twins hitting.
  15. Also, let players on the IL completely heal before bringing them back, especially with the more than adequate hitters we have in St. Paul. Again, let Kepler heal until Wallner's hot streak ended for a couple games would have been a good idea.
  16. 5 multi-hit games out of the last 8 for Miranda so this is more than a 2 day streak.
  17. The Saints are a fun team, as most people thought they would be this year. Seems like all the hitters are hot right now, especially Wallner, Miranda, Julien and Camargo.
  18. Hey, the Saints continue to score, 48 runs in the past 6 games. There's this guy named Wallner that is on fire!
  19. I don't either as he doesn't play CF when he plays 90% of the games. Then, we have to choose - guys who can hit but are bad fielders or great defense, in general.
  20. Julien is bad at 2B and worse in the OF and 3B. 1B would be a possibility but you probably are moving Kirilloff (a very good 1B) to the OF where I think he is average. You then probably get worse at two defensive positions. Julien belongs at DH with the Twins with Buxton in CF when he comes off the IL.
  21. Speaking of rehabs, Jacob DeGrom is going to need one for the Rangers as he is having Tommy John surgery. How do teams like the Twins ever afford contracts like that for a pitcher? Probably just wise not to do them if you can't afford to just eat that contract for a couple of years. Glad the Twins didn't go get DeGrom.
  22. Add my vote to have this minor league report on Mondays. Martin playing 2nd base is interesting but probably just to get him back on the field without too many long throws.
  23. Wow, moving day for a bunch of RH pitchers within the minors! Possible moves over the next month IMO: Wichita to St. Paul - Lee, Severino, Keirsey, Enlow (sorry Wind Surge fans), maybe Isola. Cedar Rapids to Wichita - Rosario, Cardenas, Schobel, Jones, Swain Fort Myers to Cedar Rapids - Ortega, Veen, Culpepper, Schmidt I had Grace and Lewis on my list earlier but they already moved up today. Shuffield could even go to Wichita if they need a guy as he goes everywhere (only minor league team he hasn't played for). I'm surprised Ohl is going up. Love his throw strikes mentality but I think he will struggle in Wichita.
