  1. Olivar is hitting so well. It's probably time for him to be moved up to Wichita. Cossetti and Cardenas are in deep hitting slumps so that would make the catching situation interesting there.
  2. The runner in the 8th should have been called out for running out of the baseline. You can move three feet from the line you are currently running to avoid the tag. He went from his normal running lane to well inside the grass, more than a 3 foot adjustment. Vazquez is in there for defense and has to play better than last night.
  3. And now a real stinker from Nowlin. Just not enough consistency. Time for Mercedes to move to Fort Myers.
  4. Pitchers win by throwing harder and harder and throwing inside. That's a recipe for more hbp's and injuries. There are going to be a lot of pretend fights where benches clear but also a few brawls as the summer heats up.
  5. I don't often concern myself with the lineup order but as hot as Castro has been, his placement befuddles me.
  6. If we can get something, trade him while he's hot. He's taking up a 40 man roster spot. The Twins have done this before with Steer and Encarnocion-Strand. Just not so sure Severino gets a whole lot in trade.
  7. Would ROY come with draft pick compensation or did we miss some rule by calling SWR up too late? Anyway, I would never have guessed this in April. Great job, Simeon!!
  8. Morris is really trying to be a Zebby look-alike. 9 K's, no BB's, no runs allowed. Another great relief outing by Regi Grace as well. In a couple weeks, I would move Morris, Matthews, and Grace all up to the Saints. Low A ball can have some interesting #'s some days. Fort Myers scored 11 runs on 13 hits. Not that unusual I guess. How about they committed 6 errors, had 8 BB's, stole 8 bases, and allowed 8 stolen bases.
  9. Many on TD were saying this spring that the Twins hold back all of their young pitchers too much, mostly saying Raya and Festa. It's not true. Turns out Festa was only held back in April and probably to save some innings and pitches for later in the year, when he would hopefully be with the Twins. The Twins treat Raya different than any Twins MiLB pitcher I know of. If Raya succeeds, you will see a lot more treated like him. It's interesting.
  10. They won't actually do the transaction until after the game tonight just because the game could affect the Twins plans (injury or someone used for a lot of innings).
  11. It never shows up in his stats but we was great under pressure in the playoffs for Cedar Rapids, 7 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, and maybe 10 K's if I remember correctly. Long-time fan of his since that year and will be rooting for him.
  12. Good to hear a little information about Canterino. What you say is correct IF he doesn't get injured once again.
  13. Henriquez called up. Wonder how long he will last. I'm thinking only until he has to go about 4 innings in a relief appearance.
  14. That is the exact comp I was thinking about. He has a lot of hurdles to clear if he's going to make it to MLB, including perception. Like Shuffield, he may end up being a guy who bounces around the minors wherever the team needs him. Great story! Rooting for him.
  15. This is the type of guy that gets selected in the Rule 5 draft this winter and stashed in a poor teams bullpen in 2025. He has flashes where he's throwing strikes unlike some pitchers who always walk guys (being left-handed doesn't hurt either). Therefore, I think he has a chance to make it to MLB.
  16. He's been improving throughout this month. 8 for 22 with 8 walks this past week. I really want to see him get those walks and yet swing more with two strikes when it's close.
  17. You mean if he hadn't been injured for almost the entire year.
  18. We used to list a couple guys on each team who had cold weeks. I'll be the Negative Nellie: Saints - Anthony Prato, Alex Isola and Chris Williams combined to go 1 for 20 (20 at bats between them isn't much time on the field so maybe not a good sign). Varland and Rozek with ERA's over 40.00 from yesterdays game wasn't good. Wind Surge - Guys can struggle when they hit AA. Cardenas and Cossetti combined to go 1 for 27. Schobel and Ortega were only a little better, hitting around .150. Kernels - Jose Salas and Misael Urbina continue their hitting struggles, combining to go 0 for 24. They are not going to be around forever. Rubel Cespedes with a rare rough week, going 2 for 12. Mussels - Isaac Pena was 2 for 17. Byron Chourio, who started out the year hot, continues to struggle, going 5 for 23 without an extra base hit (batting .188 over the last 30 days).
  19. FYI - This quote is old. They are now 21-58.
