  1. I wonder how much attendance would have dropped if the Twins had not signed Correa this year? I wonder if Mauer hadn’t signed an eight yr. Contract for $184m? To fill the stadium then sign players that fans want to see play. Fans will not pay good money to watch players that may lack skills, washed up or under perform.
  2. How will the 2023 rules of the game change the needs of ss, 3b, 2b, 1b even pitchers? I assume they will have improve reflexes, speed, athletic ability. The changes will affect all 9 positions on the field.
  3. After the deal, the season is over everyone has perfect solution to solve the problem. After reading the comments it seems like the Twins if they traded for Cole, signed Judge, Verlander, Buehler, Correa that the Twins would lose a 162 games in 2023. I don’t go to baseball games to count dollars. I go to baseball games to watch players perform well and as a team. I tend to forget there are 930 baseball players in the mlb and they are all completely different from one another. I will pay good dollars to watch a team with good players perform well but I refuse to pay or go to a game to watch poor players perform poorly because they lack ability or their riding off into the sunset. Let’s go Twins you can do it in2023.
  4. The feeling is mutual as to win. The Twins have too many pitchers whose ability depends which side of the bed they get out bed on. The Twins can ver easily clear $40m off of payroll by releasing Sano~, Pagan, Archer, Bundy, Megill, Columbe, Garlick, Stahek, A. Sanchez, Fulmer, Sanchez, Hamilton, Contrases. Rogers salary will stop on 12/31/22. And they resign Correa at $37m for 5 yrs. with a. 3 yr. mutual option. Then sign FA Contreras (c), Leclerc (rp), Gallo, (of). Then, I would be open to trading Kepler, or Kirilloff, or Larnach and a position prospect to the Marlins, for a starting pitcher. Just dreaming!

  6. I am in on resigning Correa for adding a 3 year extension $37500,000 this would be 2025-26-27 with a mutual option in 2028. That would peg his salary at $36500000 for six years and Correa’s age about 33. I would release Sano~, Sanchez, Fulmer, release 7 more pitchers, salary will be off the books on 12/31/22., and with the 6 players already released has already saved $4,500,000. Total salary savings about $45,000,000. Then adding back FA signings for a catcher for $13,500,000, relief pitching for $16,000,000, then, a trade with the Rangers for relief pitcher such as Burke or LeClec or Martin.
  7. Thanks for sharing your dreams. I would be a little hesitant on acquiring the starting pitchers because they’re past medical history. What happens if Correa doesn’t op out?.Which would be great. I would consider signing Leclerc, Burk, or Martin FA relief pitchers from the Rangers. Contreras a FA catcher from Cubs. Twins do need more of a right handed power hitter to come off the bench. A old pitching saying is; “a low quality starting pitching staff requires a strong bullpen. A good quality starting pitching staff can survive with a weaker bullpen.” I really enjoyed reading your article and sharing new ideas.
  8. I remember my grandpa telling me as a youngster and I quote, “if you live by the numbers then you will dye by the numbers”. Baldy seems to have harder time winning against well managed teams. Because they have the book on him and his tendencies and they’re prepared to a contra move to his move before he makes his move.
  9. The only way I would consider trading Sano~ for Bell strait up. Then, trade Bell for pitching. This could also accomplish by a 3 team trade.
  10. I am not a fan of Snell at this time. I would prefer Clevinger over Snell because I feel his utility is better suited to the Twins than Snell. My 1st choice is with Marlins for Lopez, 2nd choice with the Reds for Costillio or “A”s for Montas. Reliefers are my primary desire such as (1)Marlins for Bass (2) D- Backs for Multipy (3) Pirates for Bednar (4) Cubs for Givens. If you sign good proven relief pitchers, then, you may not need any starting pitchers.
  11. I like Bass & Bednar and they may cost what there worth. That’s ok. The Marlins are looking for position players especially out field. Celestino or Urbina. Pittsburgh (Bednar) may take more pitching and position prospects. Sabato, Canterino & Strotsman. When I look at the Twins current roster promotions and the prospects list I see the named prospects as extendable. I also see Martin & maybe Wallner extendable for a starting pitcher such as Lopez (Marlins), Costillio (Reds), Montas (A’s), Mahle (Reds). Another Marlin pitching prospect who is on the ten day injury list Cabrera is very intriguing to me.
  12. I am glad the Twins are where they are and they find a way to get it done. There are 11 other ALC teams that would gladly change places with theTwins. That’s why we play the game.
  13. Sano~ is a damn if you do and damn if you don’t situation. The current situation about Sano~ is very stressful. How many miles of rope do give a guy like Sano~ to make improvements with no results. Maybe the Sano~ situation is one that will never improve within the Twins organization. Maybe the Twins need to cut their frustration and the frustration for Sano~ too by letting him go.
  14. Successful coaches have something special. If you want a warm body to be your coach that’s ok for you but not for me. Coaching isn’t everybody’s cup of tea. There are so many skills to successful coaching. There is no good road map to good coaching because the road is the map.
  15. I hate to see Wes leave. He is a heck of a communicator, coach. Money is money but collegiate baseball is a completely different culture from baseball. God’s speed and good luck Wes.
  16. I for one enjoy having Correa playing for the Twins. He has brought much needed inspiration to the Twins and the fans.. He is a joy to watch. My hope is that the Twins find a way to keep Correa until he retires. Then, I hope to see his #4 retired and placed on the wall.
  17. Miami I feel offers a very strong partner with the Twins to improve the Twins Issues. And the improve the Marlins issues. The Twins get either Lopez or Cabrera sp and Bass for the Bullpen. Marlins get Martin and Wallner & Cavaco.
  18. The Twins aren’t the only team in the mlb that have players on the 60 day, 15 day or 10 day injury lists. There not the only team that has pitchers that have required “TJ” surgery or had to go the 15 day “Il” or had to miss a turn. But one thing I know today is there are 25 other teams in the mlb that would like exchange position with the Twins in the standings. There is room to improve within the matrix of team and external matrix of the Twins within mlb. But I am damm proud of the Twins and what they have accomplished thus far in 2022.
  19. What value does Sano~ bring to the Twins? A big headache!
  20. I would hold onto Correa as long as possible unless the Yanks want to trade Cole. Kirilloff, Larnach, Kepler, being left handed hitters, then, trading Kepler could make sense. I enjoy having Kepler on the team. Sano~ trade him or release him. I would be very hesitant to trade Urshela .
  21. When you have a manager who apparently doesn’t believe in the consistency or momentum theories? When a player is hot let him play instead of sitting him for a day of rest. Hitters and players like to know where they are in the batting order every day before they get to the ballpark. It’s called pregame preparation.
  22. I to don’t like the 3 suggestions. I would consider both of the following trades. It could be a 3 team trade Marlins-“A”-Twins. Miami gets the “A” centerfielder + player. Oakland get a pitcher + player from Miami. Oakland get Celestino + Martin + Sands + player from the Twins. Twins get Montas & Blackburn. Then, work a trade with the Pirates for relief pitchers Bednar & Stratton to the Twins for #8 Steer, #9 Waller, #14 Sabato, #17 Strotman + player. I agree this would thin out the prospects but with current recent promotions to the big team with limit success and maintaining 8 of 10 top prospects. And a younger set of prospects on the lower end of the prospects for the lack of experience.
  23. The 3 players are good players and Castillo would fulfill a Twins need but at what trade value and at what resigning price? Will #2 prospect Martin, &#16 Sands be adequate and a resigning salary of $125m for 5 years do the job? The relief pitcher market seems to be uncertain and no headliners. The relief pitcher will have to be creative. I would explore a trade with Pittsburgh for Bednar and Stratton for #9 Steer & Strotsman & bottom # prospect. Bednar has good stats, contract control & age & . Stratton is reasonable priced, 5-8 inning relief, ground ball pitcher, age is good. These two trades would improve Twins. The loss of these five prospects can be absolved by the Twins with the way the major league roster is structured with skill and age, and the minors are structured with skill sets.
  24. Nice article. I would consider a trade Bednar & Stratton of the pirates as both ground ball pitchers with good stats, ages 29-27, reasonable priced with controllable years on contracts. A true rental pitcher is Pirates Quintanna, age 33 go stats and reasonable salary of $2m for 1 year.It would probably take something prospects like Martin, Sands, Steer, Strotsman.

Another trade with the “A”  Blackman & Traveno.

A trade with Cincinnati for Mahle who more reasonable than Castillo or Montas of the “A” would be fine. The Padres have several rental pitchers that could pitch but you never know what the Padres will do. The “Debacks, Orioles, Rays, Red Sox have potential, Milwaukee seems to make an unexpected trade.

  25. A trade is a trade. No use to cry over spilled cream. It’s time to get over these trades as a lot time has past. fO Management teams have changed out. The $18m paid to Idorizzo has nothing to do with the trade.
