  1. You had to go back 30+ years to find the exception.....not very comforting.
  2. Strange that we ding prospects when they strikeout 30% of the time but the Twins main club is allowed a 40% clip.
  3. I like this deal for both sides. Margot is also a good defender although he may not have the range he once had. He should be a good 4th OF'er type and could replace Buck when needed. The Bums have alot of bats and could use a glove first SS if injuries arise.
  4. Weiss has allowed 8 bombs in 27 major league innings. We better get an X-Ray on his neck from turning around to see them go out so frequently. Boy I hope they saw something in the video they can fix because at age 31 and that track record he looks like a milb invite at best.
  5. Gabriel Gonzalez SEA, OF, 20.3 - Gonzalez' numbers dropped off majorly when he got promoted to High-A. He put up a 149 wRC+ with a 13.7% K% in 73 games at Single-A vs. a 21.5% K% and 83 wRC+ in 43 games at High-A. Single-A was his age appropriate level, but it's not a great sign that more advanced pitchers were able to exploit his extremely aggressive plate approach (6.5% BB%). He's not a toolsy guy or imposing figure at 5'10'' with below average speed, and his groundball rates have been on the high side at 53.4% at High-A. He does hit the ball hard with more power likely coming (18 homers in 2023), and he does have an excellent feel to hit, but it's a profile that is lacking upside right now. Recent scouting report on Gonzalez.
  6. The agents are waiting on the TV deals. Increased cash flow will make the markets more competitive.
  7. Seems like a silly question, of course he's the best. He did things no one else ever did.
  8. Why would the Twins give the 39th best prospect the 25th largest bonus? Sounds like an over pay.
  9. I see Andrew Knizner was non tendered by St Louis and he seems like a solid backup catcher. He is almost 29 but has big league experience and hit 10 homers last year in 250 abs.
  10. I'm from Iowa and my brothers were 8-10 yrs old when the Twins began in 1961 and became big fans. I was born in 1961 and followed their footsteps. The Rec Dept would take a van load of locals to MSP each summer for a game and I started getting to the games that way starting in 1970. We'd also tune into Halsey Hall each night in the summer.
  11. The Twins traded perceived depth when they actually didn't know what they had in Steer yet. Maybe it's me but it seems like the Twins do this often. I wish they would wait on trading prospects till they know what they have.
  12. The problem is the algorithm they use has Gonzalez in the Top 5 so they are not viewing him as a teens to 20 guy. Don't get me wrong I'm with you, but I think they are stuck on their internal rankings and will probably end up moving guys ahead of the high schoolers. I hate when the Twins get cute and elevate a lesser prospect to save some money. When you factor in the higher risk level of that reach the odds of success decrease significantly.
  13. I wonder if they said the same about Jack Leiter
  14. Cody, May I ask what site you got the pitch type data from? It looks very interesting.
  15. Year of the stolen base with 90% success rate and the Twins have yet to attempt a steal. Cmon Man
  16. I don't get moving Gallo, a gold glove outfielder to 1B that seems like you are weakening 2 positions defensively. Plus, that cannon in the outfield controls the run game.
  17. Sounds like Travis has a good head on his shoulders plus the talent to move up the rankings. You have to love the command so far in his journey. Go get'm Travis!
  18. If management is confident in the ACL rehab and recovery I think it should be pursued. If you want to be a place where players want to go, then treating athletes you respect with respect goes along way. I know it is a business, but the team should know the nitty gritty about their stars or potential stars. Reaching out to a player that is going through a tough time and saying we got you, we trust you and let's help your cash flow and buyout those pesky arbitration years.
  19. Salas more than held his own against competition 2-3 yrs older with a 20% K rate and a 9% walk rate. At 18 they expect the power to improve and he has tremendous bat speed. The strong hit tool gives him a higher floor than most prospects. Plus he is from a great baseball family with his dad and uncle playing professionally and his brother. The high baseball IQ probably helped with his great base running, swiping 33 of 34 stolen base attempts.
  20. I received my Twins Prospect rankings from Prospects Live yesterday and this is how they ranked him. They are not kind to Wallner and Balazovic. 1. Brooks Lee, SS - 55 OFP 2. Royce Lewis, SS - 50 OFP 3. Emmanuel Rodriguez, OF - 50 OFP 4. Edouard Julien, 2B - 50 OFP 5. Connor Prielipp, LHP - 50 OFP 6. Louie Varland, RHP - 50 OFP 7. Simeon Woods Richardson, RHP - 50 OFP 8. Marco Raya, RHP - 50 OFP 9. Jose Salas, SS - 50 OFP 10. Austin Martin, SS - 45 OFP 11. David Festa, RHP - 45 OFP 12. Matt Canterino, RHP - 45 OFP 13. Tanner Schobel, SS - 45 OFP 14. Yasser Mercedes, OF - 45 OFP 15. Misael Urbina, OF - 45 OFP 16. Jose Rodriguez, OF - 45 OFP 17. Noah Miller, SS - 45 OFP 18. Jordan Balazovic, RHP - 45 OFP 19. Alejandro Hidalgo, RHP - 45 OFP 20. Matt Wallner, OF - 40 OFP 21. Ronny Henriquez, RHP - 40 OFP 22. Cole Sands, RHP - 40 OFP 23. Danny De Andrade, SS/3B - 40 OFP 24. Aaron Sabato, 1B - 40 OFP 25. Michael Helman, UTIL - 40 OFP 26. Blayne Enlow, RHP - 40 OFP 27. Cory Lewis, RHP - 40 OFP 28. Sean Mooney, RHP - 40 OFP 29. Bryan Acuna, SS - 40 OFP 30. Ben Ross, UTIL - 40 OFP
  21. I agree and with a mid level budget we need to use every club in the bag to improve the team. We cannot afford to ignore the Asian market just because we have had some issues. We must comb every market and every angle to get an advantage.
